"In addition to the cut of your jib, I also likes the sound of your town"

Greetings from Murfreesboro TekkeN!!

ok... so we left south Florida on Tuesday for a couple of days in Gainesville to see a few friends before heading on the main trip all the way to Oregon. I packed the car with all of our s**t that we could possibly fit in it still making room for a tv and 2 cats... I ended up having s**t sitting on my lapm and below my feet in the passenger seat by the time we left so i had to reorganize when we got to Gainesville which was a ******** nightmare because of how loosely organized i had to pack the trunk with s**t strewn all over the place. We thought we were going to be able to sleep on a bed when we got there because they told us they had an extra bedroom for us.... turns out we were sleeping for 2 nights on a hard a** floor before heading out on a long ******** road trip in a cramped a** car... so we head out on Thursday for our first stop in Georgia and we got there just fine, got settled into the hotel room... then we woke up the next morning and turned on the tv and theres a ******** storm sweeping across the country complete with dozens of tornados and the middle of the ******** is headed right for our next stop, St. Louis. So we decided to spend another night there, just to be safe... so we sat there the whole day in a shitty hotel room bored as ******** in Kennesaw GA... woo hoo. We planned on getting up whenever we felt like it and heading out from there at a pretty relaxed pace, however we both were up most of the night coughing and when my wife woke up this morning she started throwing up in that way that only a stomache bug can make you do. We only made it a couple of hundred miles today due to having to stop every 30-45 minutes and the fact that i was really starting to feel like s**t too... so now here we are in an overpriced hotel room in Murfreesboro Tennessee.... YAY... and thats this trip so far

You driving your VW? That car's barely big enough for you in the first place.

It's good to hear from you. cool

yeah we are driving the jetta, which is why its so cramped with damn near everything we own in it... we used those space bags for the extra clothes, which helped a lot, but it's still pretty tight. we're feeling a little better but i think we're going to stay here another night just to get over this s**t for sure before we just head out again...

I remember driving in the mid-west. It was nice and sunny one moment, then the next it was raining so hard my truck was leaking. You were wise to avoid that area during s**t-storms. Get ready for a few hundred miles of not-a-goddamn-thing-to-look-at between St. Louis and the rockies.

I work at a barbecue restaurant now. On a completely unrelated note I now weigh 175 pounds (last time you saw me I was 165).

even though you're having a bad roadtrip, at least you have some good stories to tell people when you get back.... where in florida do you live? I used to live in winter haven (a s**t town with a ******** huge orange for a building and a mushroom statue. also home to the chain of lakes.)

the shitty trip was worth it. we both still have colds, but we're in the new apartment... and it is the s**t. it's and old vintage brick building, it's a lot bigger than we had expected it to be, and it's walking distance from just about everything we need including an awesome, reasonably priced mexican restaurant(that was a big concern), a concert venue, and indie movie theater and a pretty awesome ne and used book store. I actually feel like i can be myself here and i belong. I don't get shitty looks from people when i walk around like I'm the ******** antichrist, it's refreshing. I've been getting a lot of exercise too because of how much i've been skating around to run errands, plus we only have stairs and we're on the third floor, which i actually like because it forces me to not be lazy. I don't think a place has ever made me so happy, and i haven't even gotten to really explore the neighborhood that well.
