"Alright, Ana, I'll just be a couple minutes."
Evie pushed along a shopping cart through the supermarket, looking over her shoulder at her far-taller daughter.
"You gonna stick around by the florist section again?"
Ana nodded cheerily.
"Yep! They've got azaleas today, I just HAVE to go see."
Evie snorted and shook her head.
"Alright, alright. You have fun, kid. Just stay put, I don't want to go looking for you all over the store."
Ana gave a little squeal of happiness and bolted into the florist's section of the market, looking at all the cute little plants and flowers. Oh, the colors!

"Adrian, I can trust that you won't cause any damage to the store and let me get food in peace, right?" Amryx asked as she pushed her cart along the aisles of the store, looking back at her moody, hormone driven monster of a son. On the bright side, he was like that before he grew up, so it wasn't like it was any different than what she had to deal with before.
Which probably meant bringing Adrian into the supermarket with her wasn't a good idea.
"Can I at least have a promise that the damage won't be over my next paycheck?"
"Oh, I can't promise anything, but I'll see what I can do," Adrian smiled, looking at a display of cans that was in front of one in the aisles with a devious glint in his eye. "But I mean, you shouldn't be so worried about petty things like that, I'd be more worried about... oh say, the caloric content of your food. You know, if you ever wanted to fit into these jeans ag-"
"Get out of my sight."
"Of course, mother~!" Adrian all but sang as he sauntered away. Yeah, yeah, he could go and mess with the displays, or knock over some merchandise, or put the live lobsters in the frozen shrimp again or something, but he felt like bringing unhappiness in a new way today. And then he saw the floral section, filled with a ton of brightly colored, fresh flowers waiting to be given to loved ones.
His eye twitched.
"These flowers are too bright. They're going to die anyway. I'd be doing them a favor anyway, who buys these things?" Adrian thought aloud, and with great glee, he grabbed a nearby bunch of azaleas and started to tear the petals off the stems, one by one.

Busily admiring a spray of baby's breath, Ana turned curiously to see another customer destroying the poor plants. Oh, god, the AZALEAS.
"Hey!" she said, looking put-out. "Why are you doing that? C'mon, please don't do that..."

The Scent froze in mid-rip. Caught already? Since when did people in this store actually pay attention?! He turned to go and blame it on someone else, maybe some random child that was wandering around, but...
"... Have we met before? I don't think I could forget a hideous face like yours," Adrian asked, leaning forward and squinting a bit. Actually, that girl... she...
"I REMEMBER YOU! YOU THREW THAT ... THING AT MY HAIR!" He screeched, pointing accusingly at her and glaring. Oh, so she liked azaleas, huh?!
He ripped the one he was holding, just for good measure.

Blinking at the unprovoked attack, Ana fell back a step and stared at the boy's face. Waitasecond...
"You."
Ana's hands balled up into fists and glowed blindingly bright. A dark flush rose in her face and she grit her teeth hard. The pacifist, ready to take a swing? Good lord, what was the world coming to.
"Hello, Adrian," she said, trying to reign her temper into check. The glow lessened to a less painful-on-the-eyes degree, but not by much.

The boy glanced at her curiously when she started to glow, and seemed to take a step back when he noticed that she was glowing in anger, but he did his best to make it look like a cool step backwards and not a cowardly one.
"What, are you radioactive or something? I'm surprised they let you out in public, isn't that a health hazard?" He sneered, smartly keeping his distance from the other Scent. "What was your name again... Ana... Anorexia?"
Actually, to tell the truth, he didn't remember her name. Anna? Ana... belle?

"If I am, I certainly feel sorry for you," Ana said coolly. "Radiation poisoning will make all of your nice hair fall out."
Throwing her hair out of her face, taking a deep breath and willing herself to smile, Ana gave Adrian a mild look.
"It's Anastasia. You were close, I applaud your ability to remember such a long word in either case."

The comment about his hair falling out made the Scent seem slightly paler than he was before, if such a thing was possible, but a scowl returned to his face. Oh no, he wasn't going to let this wench just walk all over him! Especially since he still hadn't forgiven her for the spider incident, and she hadn't forgiven him for... well, god knows what, but Adrian didn't really care.
"Well, you can't expect me to remember the name of a worthless nobody," Adrian sniffed haughtily, returned his attention to destroying the flowers. "You know, I have more important things to think about. Oh, and I hope you weren't thinking of buying these."

Though outwardly Ana seemed unfazed by the teen's comments, inside she was already very hurt. Why, why was Adrian such a nasty person? Her own personality seemed such a polar opposite that to clash seemed the only reasonable reaction.
"Important. Really," she said coolly, taking care to reach out to a plant near Adrian with a brightly glowing hand. "And I was just looking."
She brushed a finger against Adrian's arm, hoping to spook him.

Why was this girl still talking to him? Wasn't it clear that Adrian didn't really want anything to do with her? Unfortunately, his words didn't seem to take any effect, but if Adrian knew most people, he could wear them down eventually. Sure, it might take awhile, but he remembered this girl being some kind of hippy. Nah, she had to have some kind of weak spot.
It was a shame though, because it seemed like ripping apart flowers wasn't it. Didn't hippies have a thing for -
"AUUUGH!" He practically threw himself backwards when he felt something brush against his arm, glaring at Anastasia. "Don't TOUCH ME!" He snarled, clenching onto the ruined plants in his hand as he examined his arm. "You could have left a burn mark or something, touching people with those freaky hands of yours!"

Ana smirked.
"Then get out of the way," she said simply. "I was here first. Not my problem if I fry your skin off."
Aware that people were starting to stare as they milled around the store, Ana cleared her throat a bit awkwardly and wished Evie was there. She'd know what to do to get out of such an uncomfortable situation.
"Interesting choice of clothing, by the way," she said cheerfully. "I think I have that same shirt."

"Actually, I was here first," Adrian moved forward, making it look like he was going to shove the girl out of the way, but he stopped short and just stood his ground, glaring at the other Scent the whole time. A quick glance at his arm didn't show any burn marks, so the glowy crap around her hands must have been for show. "You were the one who decided to bother me."
At her comment about the shirt, Adrian simply flicked his braid over his shoulder.
"Really? I'm surprised, I didn't know they made shirts like this in your size."

"I assure you, I wasn't planning on botherin' you in particular," Ana said dryly. "I saw someone acting like an a*****e, and decided to intercede."
Good lord, he'd even gotten her swearing. Picking up a small potted cactus, Ana examined it thoughtfully.
"No, they don't, actually," she replied mildly. "Mine's smaller. But if you're trying to look pretty, all the power to you. I'm sure it does wonders for the self-esteem."

"a*****e? There wasn't anyone acting like that here, so I don't see what the problem is," Adrian whirled around, moving himself right in front of Anastasia. He was starting to get really annoyed with this hippie, and maybe it was time for her to leave him and the flowers in peace.
"Actually, the only person I see being rude around here is you. I wasn't bothering anyone, I was simply getting rid of some wilting flowers," Adrian huffed, looking down (or trying to) at Anastasia. "So, are you going to leave?"
If Adrian was trying to scare the girl away, it was going to be hard to do it while wearing a woman's blouse and tight fitting jeans.

Ana looked down at Adrian more successfully, seeing as she was a few inches taller.
"You were mutilating living things," she said. "Aside from the fact that you're damaging store property. They could throw you out for that, y'know."
Putting the cactus back and looking consideringly at an African violet, Ana tilted her head to the side. Hmm. Which would look better in that gloomy apartment she and Evie shared...
Speaking of Evie, the girl was finally back from her own shopping and was hanging around in the background. Ana having a conversation with a total stranger was hardly unusual, but the fact that she looked so upset and nettled did. One hand in her pocket holding on to something.... special, Evie watched the exchange like a bad-tempered hawk, ready to spring if it turned ugly.
