I've read the Abhorsen series, and all of the Keys to the Kingdom series so far. They're so awesome! Does anyone like Mister Nix?

I followed the Abhorsen trilogy in my last year of high school, since Nix wasn't and still isn't a publicly celebrated author, even though he should be. I loved the Old Kingdom, it had the right amount of drama and the right amount of magic to really get me into it. I think I finished all three books in the span of two weeks while listening to one of P.O.D.'s albums and now whenever I hear songs from that CD I end up remembering the entire series! Which isn't a bad thing, though the prince was a bit whiny, for longest while I was wondering if he was going to make a move on the girl he runs into (was it Lireal? Its been a while and I have no POD, haha), then it just so happens they're related.
I think that series could have done with some romance. Everyone except Sabriel and the king guy just seemed like a distant eunuch. Oh well, still an awesome series!
I hear Nix has signed a massive contract to write a prequel and a sequel for the Abhorsen, which is awesome! I can finally get away from fugging Sci-Fi, which is the only readable stuff these days. Sadly the prequels release date is 2010 and who knows when the sequel is coming out.
I haven't read the others for the simple reason I didn't know they existed. The book store in the mall has gone WAY down hill with his inventory selection and has crammed all its science fiction in with the fantasy on one 3x5 shelving unit. So I might need to pick up one of the Keys some time.

After the Abhorsen trilogy there is a story abou the prince's friend. It's in a book with a compilation of short stories, but it takes up half the book. I would tell you what the book is called but my friend borrowed it like 2 years ago and I still haven't gotten it back. I got the Seventh Tower volumes 1-3 in a collection, but I haven't gotten to read it yet. I got it with a bunch of books around my birthday and I have been slowly picking away at them. Nix seems to be widely known Lion, I found out a bunch of my friends had read it right after I finished them.

Oh yeah! There is a short story Garth Nix ended up writing about Lireal and Nick in the collection Across the Wall. It hints a little more about Lireal and Nick getting together! biggrin (it's a little like an epilogue) I haven't read the 7th tower series; is it any good?

I have the Abhorsen trilogy, the Keys to the Kingdom books (only the paperbacks except for Lady Friday which came out about a week ago), and Across the Wall. I really should get to reading them one of these days.
I started the Abhorsen trilogy and found it very interesting. I started the Keys to the Kingdom series and found it very bizarre (I didn't get past the prologue-ish part).

My friend OBSESSED over the Keys to the Kingdom when we were in middle school.
I never had the opportunity to get into it, but I've really wanted to ever since!

Mister Nix remains one of my most treasured authors - his books are so original it make my heart glad to know there are people like him willing to write something other than a cliche.
