The day was bright, not one cloud in the sky, yet there was a refreshing coolness in the wind. Nalani slowly made her way down the side of the stream, making sure to look back at her basket to see if it was keeping up well. They were heading down to the most beautiful flower beds in the area. The very place her adoptive mother, Jeevita, had taken her when she was just a foal. It was to be a gift to her unhatched daughter.
Ziva bounced, wiggled, and squealed after the sound of her mother's hoofbeats. She was still sealed in the woven basket that her two-legger had placed her in right after birth. It was getting cramped now that she was getting bigger and ready to come out to face to mysterious world they lived in.

Riyaz, a spunky little colt, had wandered away from his momma and siblings on a whim only to find himself on the shoreline of a stream with dozens upon dozens of flowers swaying in the wind.
Of course, being a child (and a boy at that) his mind was only focused on the water and having fun in general. With a loud squeal of delight, Riyaz bounced into the water with a light splash. Spreading his butterfly-like wings wide, he instantly proceeded to prance around and soak himself in the sun-warmed waters.

The mare's ear perked suddenly at the sound of exessive splashing. Instincts took over and she quickly hovered over her basket with her tail wrapped around it, afraid of some sort of incoming danger. Nalani jerked her neck around, looking for the threat that might be closeby. Her sky blue eyes came in contact with a small foal in the distance. He seemed to be playing in the stream, alone. She felt herself worry for him as though he was her own son. No mare should leave their child alone, especially in a place filled with dangerous creatures lurking and waiting for an easy prey. Nalani whinnied softly towards the colt to let him know that she was there and that she meant no harm.
Ziva froze as she felt her mother's nervousness in the air. Suddenly she could sense the presence of her strong mother standing over her and the heat that radiated off of her graceful tail. The foal wiggled uncomfortably in the basket, unsure of what was going on in the outside world. She heard the mare send a greeting out to something, but she didn't know what it was.

The sudden call caused little Riyaz to pause with his ears perked up. Glancing around, he gave a squeaky whinney in return.
What is Momma? Nah, it didn't sound like her.
Spinning around, Riyaz paused and stared at the adult watching him. He squinted...no, that wasn't Momma; though the lady had pretty wings like she did, momma was pink. This lady had something called "earthy tones" and a purdy unicorn horn.
Giving another whinney of greeting at the lady, he eagarly left the water with loud splash and ran towards Nalani. After running for a few moments, he skidded to a stop and looked up with a silly grin on his face.
"Hi Lady! Imma Riyaz!"
He didn't see the basket, Nalani's leg and tail were blocking it from view.

Nalani tilted her head and chuckled at the foal's cuteness. He was so bright and just plain adorable. She smiled warmingly at him as he introduced himself. "It's a pleasure meeting you, Riyaz. I am Nalani." The mare stared at his beautiful wings, the unique markings caught most of her admiration. She also noted how shiny his little rump was, it made her giggle. "You are a very attractive looking colt. I bet a lot of fillies love to play with you."
Ziva started getting anxious since she could do nothing but constantly wiggle. A squeaky greeting in the distant grabbed her attention. She was curious as to who it was. The sound of splashing got louder and then the voice was heard again, but closer than ever. Whoever it was, it was speaking with her mother. The foal heard the stranger say his name and then heard her mother say her own. Ziva squealed loudly, a bit upset that she had been forgotten all this time.

Riyaz laughed, violet eyes bright and excited at making of a new friend. His wings fluttered rapidly in response, the light glimmered off of them and onto the grass beneath their hooves.
"Thanks Nani!" He cocked his head in a cute manner at her next words. "Really?" He turned and looked at himself for a second before returning his attention to Nalani. "I don't look that different from the others."
About to say something, he was cut off a loud squeal that caused him to jump and spin around; his neck started to hurt as Riyaz looked left and right, up and down to located the source. "Whowhatwherewhenwhyhow?!"

She shook her head and smiled once again, "Everyone is unique in their own special way. I'm pretty sure you have something completely different then the others that you speak of." The sudden reaction of the colt to her daughter's high pitched squeal made her laugh. "It's alright, dear. It's only my baby girl." Nalani moved to the side to reveal the dark blue basket that she had hidden with her tail beneath her.
The foal wiggled more inside, content that she finally had everyone's undivided attention. Ziva cooed softly to her mother and the stranger who had been frightened by her squealing. She stuck her tiny muzzle out of the basket and sniffed the air around her, taking in her mother's calming smell and the uneasy scent of the colt in front of her.
