The crowd stirred in anticipation for the GZW World Champion. The GZW was in need of some fire after roster cutbacks, and Christian Cage was given the ball to run with. Christian Cage was a notable individual in this whole situation, as he has been on a constant streak of momentum since his arrival. In the darkness of the countdown up on the screen, his name would flash across the screen, cueing smoke and strobe lights to go on. The silhouette of The Instant Classic would be seen making his way out onto the stage, before the lights focused down on him, the GZW World Championship wrapped around his waist, underneath that open, custom-made hooded coat of his. Cage had plenty of reasons to be smiling at this point. However, inwardly, he was disappointed that he practically won the title uncontested. Tonight would mark one of his first true challenges as he took on the man who seemed to have put Marxx out of action, Fox. My Last Breath by Evanescence continued to play out through the arena, as made his way down to the ring. Arriving at the steps at a corner of the ring, Cage made his way up the steps and ducked into the ring. Walking over to one corner of the ring, Cage pulled himself onto the second level and opened up his ring jacket, allowing his Peeps and all GZW fans alike to take a good look at the World Championship. Lowering down to the canvas, Christian walked to the opposite side of the ring .. raising his hands up in that 'CC' formation overhead, watching a number of the fans in the audience do the same. Slapping his hand across his chest a few times, he'd point out across them as he stepped back to a corner, removing his entrance attire as he awaited Fox's entrance.

So Fox wanted a verbal duel? Cage wasn't about to back down from one of those, not ever! Stepping off to the side, Christian motioned for a microphone, taking it and measuring Fox up for a moment.

" I see that match you had just now with that vanity mirror was a hard fought one .. and it warrants a World Championship match. But it's a shame that mirror is broken and shattered, because I know it IS a much more deserving #1 Contender than you are right now. "

Christian paused to let the crowd react to that one, before raising the mic to his mouth again.

" And forgive me for a second if I've forgotten who you are and what you've accomplished. The only accolade to your name that I seem to remember .. is being a multi-time Women's Champion. "

Was he intending to strike a nerve? Sure was. A hush of "OHHH!" ran over the crowd, as Cage let Fox reply to that one.

" That's right, you have .. then let me go ahead and add that you are a REIGNING .. and DEFENDING .. GZW Heavyweight Jackass of the World. "

That's kinda what happens when you give Christian Cage an opening like that.

The time for talk was now over. It was done the moment that Fox had thrown that kick into Christian's midsection. Cage doubled over with a grimace and dropped his own microphone as the referee signaled for the bell in a rush. Stuck in that front facelock for the DDT, however, Christian put the brakes on that, wrapping his arms around Fox's waist as he attempted to bumrush the challenger back into the corner. If successful, he'd go to work, looking to hammer right hands into Fox's ribs, then up into the side of his head!

Forced off backward by the referee after that five count, Christian kept his eyes glued to Fox. Waiting for the referee to step aside, Cage moved back in at Fox, looking to plant his boot against the throat of the challenger, blatantly trying to choke him out!

The punch to the back of the knee would connect, and Cage would step back off the choke with a brief wince .. shaking his leg out a bit. Putting some distance between them, Christian beckoned for Fox to move out of the corner!

Cage watched as Fox left the ring as the crowd jeered. Cracking a smirk across his face, Christian hung back for now .. waiting for Fox to return. At this point, the referee began to administer the 10 count.
