Yes... I agree, no one could ever replace L... EVER! scream
But the fact is, L will have a successor. stare
Which one do you think is better for the job and why?
I pick Near... even though he's a lot cold-hearted than L, he seems to have what it takes to catch Kira. In my own opinion, Mello's emotions may cause everyone to be killed... including himself. rolleyes

Both. It makes sense in the manga, so I say both.
But on a coolness factor, Mello is off the charts. Leather, motorcycle, guns, religious objects but no faith..... He's quite handsome. My favorite character, really.

Near! He was the smartest in the Wammy's House before he left and I think Mello's emotions will get in the way.

I think that it should be both. L wanted both of them to take over because they compliment each other.

And yes he is emotional, but come on have you seen how much chocolate the guy eats, is there really any wonder. Plus he is just the pinnacle of awesome evil-good guy

id pick mello, because his emotions did get him the death note, his methods for doing things, are really efficint...except for the whole him dieing thing stare but near is just way to emotionless, it creeps me out and all of his toys makes him look like a spoild brat mad while all mello has all the time is chocolate!! non-exspendsive chocolate!!

No one can replace L!!!! NO ONE!!!!!!!! I prefer Near thoug. I mean Mello's cool and everything, but Near is just...... different.

I prefer Mello over Near but I think that Near is the better sucesser of L. Mello is...dramatic and emotional and it would, and got in the way gonk

L can never be replaced. but the fact being until lights death he was voted to be the new L near is only the american L. Near is alot like L he even wears the same clothes!! So near would be the best choice. besides mellow is evil.
