Okay, hi everyone. First let me start off by saying that I apologize for being nonexistent (work and then school ate me, like they do), and it's highly likely that I'll be around more often from now on. On to what I know about the current state of the guild (feel free to correct me or something if I'm wrong anywhere). I didn't receive any information about this ownership change thing, but after a bit of poking about, here's what I think is going on: 1. Judging by the name change and lack of outfit, Terra may have quit Gaia completely. Which would explain the transferral of the guild. 2. She tweaked the name and names of the subforums before she left (because I sure as heck didn't and Phydur (the only other mod) seems to be just as confused as I). 3. If the first two are true, then no, it's not a hacker. Only the captain has control, and I'm inclined to believe that it was ACTUALLY Terra (since her new name has an FFVI ref in it, too). 4. Apparently I'm in charge now. Oooookay. I was noted on DA, which brought all of this to my attention (thanks again for that note), and the above is what has happened to the best of my knowledge. I have decided to retain captaincy and will be rebuilding the guild as quickly as my schedule will allow (meaning rather slowly, but it's the best I can do). However, if someone else feels that they would be better than I in charge, please EMAIL me or NOTE me on DA (odds are I won't notice PMs) with the reasons why and I will make an executive decision. I'll open a new thread later for suggestions as to the rebuilding process; until then I'm open for questions, comments, observations, complaints, suggestions, whatever. If anyone has any questions for me, I'll do my best to answer them. HOWEVER! I will respond MUCH faster if I am either emailed (NekoKatsun (at) gmail (dot) com) or sent a note on DeviantArt ( http://kaioshinluvr.deviantart.com).

(4/30) I've updated the subforum names slightly to reflect what they previously were.

Thanks, Phy. I missed it around here.
I believe that as the thread where you originally posted it is still here, I can just gank it from there. Although I wonder if perhaps a new banner might be in order, as the guild is pretty much starting over? Perhaps a new splash page, as well.
Would you happen to know offhand about how many active members we've got at the moment? Or would it be easier to start a roll-call thread and ask everyone to hit it with a single post? We do have a decent number of people, but I don't see much activity... and so I wonder who all is here.
Also - a question. As for the guild's name, should it remain as it was, or should we pick a new one?

Right now the guild's name is "Under Construction". That should get fixed ASAP, and have the "Under Construction" notice elsewhere. As for the active members, current members should be notified about the guild since they might have forgotten about it and lost hope when they found it abandoned by its former leader and inactive. Perhaps the members might provide some additional feedback and ideas that might bring the guild back up, and attract new members?

Thanks for the input, Lair. I suppose that means that the name of the guild ought to remain the same, hmm? I can whip up a quick splash banner announcing that the guild is under construction, too (although that will probably have to wait until after ACEN).
Contacting members sounds like a good plan, although that also will likely have to wait for a week or so. I need time to just sit down and do all of this... I don't know about others, but I personally would have checked in once I noted that the name had changed. I was really just wondering who all was active right at the moment; who all I have at my back right now. I do hope I can count on your support?
I do have ideas about how to re-energize the guild (or at least attract a bit more interest), though. Yes, they're contests. If anyone can think of something more original, let me know.

well, once the guild 'died' that is, changed to "under construction" pretymuch everyone left. me and perhaps 2 or three other people have posted, but i cant remember who... right now i'm busy with finals, so im not going to bother, but normaly i'd look up who those people where. obviously lair is one of them. still, i think a thread in the registered guilds fourm to promote our guild would help, but im too fried to think clearly right now.... well i need to get back to work. geh. i dont want to.... crying good luck reviving the guild, i'll try and be more helpful in the future, but right now, i dont realy have time.

(5/19) Stole some time from my homework overload to post in the "Arts Showoff" thread; go and look. It's an animated banner you can put in your signature. I also put the old guild minibanner back up.
I'll likely be working on a splash banner at some point if I can steal more time (probably not this week, but who knows).
I think also that major promotion should wait until the guild is fully back on its feet, and until I (and Phydur) have the time to actually keep up with upkeep.

im going to make a GGN advertizement for our guild, to hopefuly attract new members, but before i do that, do you think we should clean up the guild? maybe move some of the older posts to a archival sub thread? how, if anything do you think we should clean up the guild? also, i think the idea of having a guild mule to be able to send out guild newsletters to members was good, what do the rest of you think about making a shared guild mule for offical guild stuff? maybe dress him/her as a FFVI character, or something. can we even still do guild news letters?
Other things we'll need to talk about is how to keep memebers interested, and active. perhaps the crew could work together, and give small prizes to the most active guild memmber for maybe some sort of group project?
i think part of the problem is that we dont have anything specal to offer, anything to distiguish us from all the other FF guilds out there, and various other guilds that would make people come here. part of it is that it just needs to be more active, and have people come here freqently to keep it alive, but also, a dedication from the crew to make sure that people keep coming back, as well as a healthy influx of new members... another problem is that the sinor members have little time, or are loosing free time to work on the guild... no matter what, this guild, and gaia as a whole is only a recreational passtime, that is given up when we become to busy to take the time to get online. so, while i dont think theres a way to solve that last one, i think getting more active members is a good place to start.

Yay, the guild isn't dead! *A* I was really worried for a while, but then I noticed there was a new post from a few days ago, and got excited. xd
You should definitely clean up the guild more before trying to put out an open ad for the guild. You'll end up with new members, some of which might add more junk to clean up inadvertently, and it'd be even more work for the mods. Plus, it doesn't look professional. xd Not that we need to be, but if the guild looks nice and organized, then all is good. 3nodding
Old posts/threads, instead of facing deletion, could be archived in a separate thread where regular guild members cannot access them. You'll probably have to make a new RP, or just restart it, depending on how many of the older members of the guild return. Just getting the place more organized could help a lot.
Guild newsletters sound like a good idea, and most guilds will have a mule either to hold onto prize money/items for contests or messaging purposes.
Phydur has made some good points about our guild and what it offers versus other Final Fantasy guilds. A lot of them, including the FFVII one I moderate in, are technically the same. We may focus on a different game in the series, but we are still essentially the same, if you were to change names of characters and locations and such. What I've seen there that keeps people posting are usually threads that are considered "fun". You want threads with topics that will keep people talking. An active RP that is interesting helps to boost activity among members. You could have a main guild RP, and then let other people make their own (with mod approval), so that if the main RP doesn't suit their tastes, they can make one that they will like.
There's a lot of stuff we can do, so to speak, but the best thing would be to stay active, even if it's just the mods. If a person joins a guild and feels like the people who are running it aren't around, then they'll lose interest and leave.
We could always hold contests (bimonthly or monthly) and give away something nice, like a MC or something. Just something for the members to look forward to, and one that they can enjoy.
EDIT: Oh, by the way, I'm not sure if all of you know this, but Kefka has been confirmed as appearing in Dissidia, that Final Fantasy battle game for the PSP. I wonder which character they'll have him face, since it's the main character vs. the main villain (such as Squall vs. Ultimecia, Warrior of Light vs. Garland, etc...). Alas, the main website doesn't have any Kefka screens yet, though. D: I wanna see how they'll make him look, sound, and fight...
