Hey there! I haven't been able to read much but if someone has read some of the Star Wars books, I'm up for a chatter about them. I've read the "Courtship of Princess Leia" & a small book where Leia's children discover a downed TIE fighter while attending Jedi Academy on Yavin 4. 3nodding Can't recall the name of that small one for some reason... sweatdrop

I just picked up the first book in the Knights of Myth Drannor series of the Forgotten Realms books. I read the first couple chapters last night. I'm a little dubious, since the last time I picked up an Ed Greenwood book, I got about a third of the way through it before I decided it wasn't worth finishing.

I've been looking all over for the knights of myth drannor book 1. Everywhere seems to have the second but not the first...I was looking forward to reading it because it ties in with the Elminster sereis which I'm currently halfway through.

I haven't heard of those books here but then again, I've never been much into books in recent years. I was an avid reader back when I was a kid though... sweatdrop

Well, a few chapters in. It's not bad so far, but a little dry. We'll see, I guess...

In other news...

They canceled the sixth Songs and Swords book!!! gonk Cunningham couldn't pare it down to a single novel length and still have it make sense in time. Which, of course, means there is a lot of material about Arilyn, Danilo, Elaith, and Browyn that will now never be told!

I'm going to go and weep, now... And write fanfiction...

I just started reading Elminster in Hell, the fourth book in the quintet. It has a very weird flow because for a lot of the time the story is told through Elminsters memories, which are being taken away from him by a demon that has manifested itself inside his brain. Though as with all the other books of the quintet I enjoy it very much.

Berz, fanfiction is definitely the perfect fix for an unfinished novel. Works wonders and means you get things to work out the proper way you imagine.

... although I think I would have bawled if I didn't get to read the final ending for Harry Potter, His Dark Materials and other such long followed novels.

Well, the good news is that the fifth book had enough of an ending to be satisfying, even if it still left a whole bunch of stuff open. The important thing is that Danilo and Arilyn aren't very damn likely to split up (yay for hopeless romanticism!). The biggest thing bugging me is that I'll now never get to know if what I think is going on with the Moonblades is what's really going on. I won't bore you all with specifics since it doesn't sound like anyone else here has read the series.

Ed Greenwood in Swords of Eveningstar
Below Horaundoon's newly pointed chin, the bulk of the hargaunt had molded itself into a pair of decidedly feminine - and decidedly attractive - breasts.

Oh, gee, what a relief. For a moment there, I thought I wasn't actually reading an Ed Greenwood book.

C'mon! Really!?! Bewbs!?! That's what he chooses to concentrate on!?! scream

Always, with this man. Honestly. He needs to see a therapist or something.

Again it seems I'm the only one using the library thread... whatever.

So I read Breaking Dawn...quite a while ago actually...and it was just as good as the others in the series. I'm still waiting fo rthe third and final book(or 2 part book possibly) in The Inheritance Triliogy and next month The Pirate King( the second book in the Transtitions Triliogy) by R.A Salvatore should be coming out. Though right now I'm in a bit of a reading gap. This meaning for once I'm reading absoloutely nothing confused .

Heh... another way in which our reading tastes differ quite a bit, I guess. The very premise of Twilight makes me want to vomit, myself. And, to be perfectly frank, a lot of the concepts freak me out in a "how is this okay by you or any other member of non-deviant society?" kinda manner.

I just finished a book by Kristine Kathryn Rusch called White Mists of Power. A corny name for a corny book, really. But it was a nice change from the heavier stuff I usually read. It had a lot of very interesting premises that in and of themselves made the book enjoyable, but that just kinda fell flat, in the end. It was possibly due to the shortness of the book (it was a nice, light, 300-some pager with fairly large type). I was able to burn through it pretty quickly.

If you want an enjoyable, fairly brainless read, I can recommend this book. Though not one of the great works of literature, it was just... I dunno... fun, I guess is the word I'm looking for. I had figured out the thing that was supposed to be the big "ohmygawhedSURPRISE!!!" by the end of the first chapter. But the manner in which it was ultimately revealed was still a fun romp.

I'm trying to decide if I want to go back to trying to slog through the first of the Knights of Myth Drannor books or move on to greener pastures. I have a copy of The Tolkien Fan's Medieval Reader staring at me from my shelf that has been calling out "read me! Read me!" for a couple months now.

Aye, well the differing tastes might have something to do with the fact that I'm about 14 years old...though usually that doesn't seem to matter.

Anyway I still havn't read the Myth Drannor books though admittedly, Ed Greenwood's books can be rather slow moving. I read them more because I enjoy his writing style.

Then there is Salvatore and his Drizzt books. In my opinion they are amazing, though I'm not sure what direction they're going in right now, I actually just wish they were longer because at this point I'm waiting a year between each 300 page book.
