I'm sure we've all seen the Original Movie that started it all, but now we have two more movies.
Stargate: The Ark of Truth continues the Ori storyline and chronicles SG-1's mission to serch for the Ark and destroy the Ori once and for all.
Stargate: Continuim has the team, along with fan favorite Maj. Gen. Jack O'Neill attending Ba'al's funeral, finally. But When Vala and Teal'c disapear it's a race against time to reset the timeline.
Here you can discuss all the movies, what you like and don't like, fav moments, characters, etc.
Ark of Truth came out on March 11 in the US and is out in most other countries. Continuim comes out in July.

I first saw Stargate when I was 8. My parents took me to see it in theaters. Although, I didn't understand it, I liked it.
Egyptian mythology always fascinated me. Plus, it was set in space just like Star Wars was. I don't really remember my first impressions of it. I watched it again after really getting into the series during the seventh season. I had watched the series ocasionally on Fox on the weekends and thought "Hey, I remember that movie, this must be a continuation of it", but I didn't have Showtime so I couln't watch it regularly until it came to Scifi for season six. Even at than I forgot to watch it on Friday nights until season seven. Seeing the movie as a teenager, I loved it. It really became one of my favs. It had action, adventure, love, comedy, what more could you want. I cheered when Daniel and Jack sent the bomb to Ra. I liked James Spaders portrayal of Daniel, and thought Micheal Shanks did a good job matching it in the ealry seasons. But I didn't like Kurt Russel as Jack O'Neill. He smoked, cursed, drank, all things Jack in the show didn't do. And he didn't get a sense of humor until half way through. I'm not a big Kurt Russel fan, so that could be why. He was slated to play Han Solo in Star Wars and now I'm glad he didn't.
I finally saw Ark of Truth over the weekend and loved it. The opening scene with Teal'c, Vala, and Daniel was hilarious. I just love her and how she teases him. I almost screamed when the replicator beamed on. I wanted to kick Marrick's a**. But yeah for Morgan following them and helping them. She is so cool. I feel sad for Tomin though, to find out that Vala was right and then to loose her to Earth. But I'm a Vala/Daniel shipper. The only thing missing was Jack.

(wow it's been a while since I last came here....)
Sadly I haven't seen Continuum yet..... (neither of them came out in my country yet...).
I liked the first one, in spite of goa'uld thingy is different from the series... and Ra was one... (and the paper tissue sending from the first episode of the series was hilarious and made sence still...)
Also liked the Ark of Truth... still need to get my hands on Continuum to see it...
Like you, Padme, egyptian mythology always fascinated me so I was also attracted to Stargate for that fact too... but I was hocked to it from episode 1 of season 1.....

I recently saw Continuum online. My roommate found in for me ona Japanese website. I had to watch it with Japanese subtitles, but it was great. I think the site was toudo.com.
The movie was a little angsty with the whole Sam and Jack stuff, but I think AT did a great job with it. I would have liked to have see a little more interaction with the two of them, but that will have to wait for the third movie that is in the works.
Also, there is an Atlantis movie in the works as well.
