A nopperabo is Japanese ghost concept. It is a faceless woman. Legend has it that when you see a nopperabo, death will follow you. You will die soon. A nopperabo is a woman who had a very deep grievance committed against her. 3nodding

They also have the red man in Japan. (You *do* learn things by watching movies. Ju-on.)

I'm not sure how much of any ghost story is true or how much is pure imagination. Of course, a strong enough belief that you're going to die can kill you.

I learned about the Nopperabo from an anime magazine. They did this feature on Japanese ghosts once, as a Halloween special. They have a rich folklore.

I do believe that I read somewhere that they attack mostly men.

That's because women are scarier dead and men are scarier alive. mrgreen

BTW, I got those facts about the Nopperabo from Questor.

Probably because in history many women have died for love in tragic ways, or by great pains, or unustly. Liek the whole witch trials...

'Tis unfair, more women seem to die more tragic deaths than men. crying

A-ha! I thought they sounded familiar! surprised

But the Nopperabo stories that Questor published are obviously fakes. But still, pretty good. 3nodding

More than just women have been persecuted in trials against witchcraft...
and really, most tragedies are made up, when you referr to tagic death of women. Tragedy does not descriminate in gender, I assure you.
