The park was located somewhere in Barton Town. All one had to do was follow a few marked signs and a bit of sidewalk and you were pretty much there. The park was a small, modest affair with a tiny playground and neat little paths throughout. Trees and flowers grew in tidy little patches and the trees were of fair size and arranged just so here and there.

It was a pleasant enough place to bring one’s child, and that is just what the one-eyed man did. Pales had brought his daughter to the park for her to practice her wriggling and crawling since she seemed to have a much harder time of it on solid ground at home or anywhere. The man had made a mental note of such things and planned to build a sandpit for her.

Pales sat on a bench under a venerable old oak tree that sat near by. He was keeping a watchful eye on the nagaling as she wriggled and pushed the sand about. She had already performed a couple of accidental face plants before and didn’t wish to repeat the experience since it seemed mildly unpleasant to have sand in the mouth.

Still she seemed in her element here, happy to be in sand as she is happy to be in water. Sand flowed and moved just as easily as water so that might explain why she hadn’t come to hate the sand despite the first couple of bad moments in it.

"Come now, shhhhh, don't cry!" D did his best to soothe the little fussing child in his arms, trying his hardest not to regret the decision to go out. The afternoon had begun well enough, that was until they passed a petshop window. The little puppies and kittens in the window had intrigued the baby, and all had been well . . . for the first hour. Not daring to bring the baby in, else keep him enraptured even longer, D had finally continued to move on.

So much for a glorious afternoon.

After that, the baby had fussed, cried, howled and thrown a fit. No food would placate him, no pets, no toys, nothing. Anytime D tried to pick him up, the little baby bit and smacked and overall drew the attention of the entire city to them! D felt like like a criminal - it was bad enough he had called in 'sick' to work when he wasn't but now looking like an awful parent?

It was going to be a very long afternoon.

The pink haired businessman eventually scooped up his fussing son, wishing and hoping he'd exhaust himself from such a fit. A baby could only cry for so long before they gave up, right? That was the rule D reminded himself each and every night. Either was he was the worst parent in the history of parenthood or Faolan was just that damn fussy. Perhaps he'd talk to a few other guardians to see if they struggled. He hated to admit it, but sometimes D wished Faolan could just go back to being the wisp within the wand.

At least he'd have some peace and quiet.

Step by step, the man reached the edge of the park. Faolan's fussing had quieted down to occasional whines and squirms, though the sight of the park was beginning to work its magic. Two furred ears had pricked and two large golden eyes stared out at the world, investigating the newness of the place.

While D was thanking the gods silently, the little baby caught sight of another person and something in the sand. It wriggled some and Faolan couldn't help but be drawn to it. . . Reaching out, the little one made grabby hands and fussed, his lower lip trembling as threat.

"What is it, you?" D asked, planting a kiss a top the mop of sandy blond hair. "What do you . . oh." There was another pair not far ahead, one planted on a bench beneath a tree, and another young one in the sand before them. Not wanting to cause another fuss, D made his way over to the group, quirking a brow ever so slightly at the sight of the sand child.

Was that a . . . . . tail?
It was a baby, wasn't it? Obviously. But a . . . tail? Yes, Faolan had a tail; he had claws, fangs and ears too! But somehow, regardless of everything around him, D couldn't help but continue to be surprised by the oddities his world produced. It wasn't easy being completely normal in a world of the strange.

"Grwahg!" Faolan promptly announced, still making grabby hands at the baby in the sand.

D smiled over at Pales, though there was apology within his blue regard. He hated hassling people, but if he didn't allow Faolan a good look, there'd be another explosion of howls, cries and overall agony for the cities ear drums. "Apologies . . .you've seemed to capture his-" and D gestured to the baby in his arms with his chin "-attention far more effectively than the swings and slides do."

Kaveri held herself upright on the sand using her palms. Her head tilted back toward the squirmy, fussy child-thing and stared at it with wide amber colored eyes. Sure it was being held at the moment, but still the nagaling gave up a charming little smile over her own toward the child and his guardian.

She couldn’t quite support herself in an upright position just yet, having a tail instead of just legs made balance and other things a bit of a larger issue. Still she could sit on her rump and that is what she did with a sort of shift in position and the use of arms she managed to sit upright in the sand with her tail coiling limply off to the side a little.

Pales gazed at the man and his charge through a singular jade colored eye and smiled in a friendly fashion, "Nah, don’t worry about it. Feel free to place him in with her if you like. It doesn’t seem like it would cause any harm."

Meanwhile Kaveri made a small sound of her own, greeting the infant in turn, "Haaaaiiii-eeee!"
