Kamakura

This world is just one large city that frequently experiences strange killings. Within, there is a race of mutated humans called Diclonius run around loose. This race of mutants can emit a special energy that creates “invisible hands” that can attack the opponent. Lusting for blood and death, these mutants travel throughout the streets preying on unsuspecting humans. Much of these mutants are female but it is said that males can have this ability too after undergoing a horrendous mutation. But, if a Diclonius looses their horns at the top of their heads, they will no longer be able to manipulate the “arms.”

You appear at Kohta's Apartment Complex and exit at the College's Laboratory Basement.

Kurama ~ The Mad Scientist
Mutation ~ User is granted the ability of telekinesis by the horns that appear after the horrible experiment. You will feel complete pain until you train to control, as your newly gained abilities will kill you. 1000 Skill Points
Manipulation ~ Allows you to control your abilities but you are placed into torture to actually use it. 1000 Skill Points (Must know Mutation)

Lucy ~ The First Diclonius
Strength Training ~ Your strikes are harder per strike. Level of attacks gets stronger after repeated training, each level gained means you can life 10 more pounds after an initial 50 pounds. So if you have level 4, you can lift 80 pounds since level 1 carries 50 and the rest carries 10 more. 500 Skill Points (When adding, you place LVL after the name with the amount trained for. Must also know Manipulation)
Arm Shield ~ User can use the arms as a shield to block attacks. Anything that comes in contact will be stopped almost as if it touched a concrete wall. 600 Skill Points (Must know Manipulation)
Latus Touch ~ User can project a hand into the opponent’s mind and break an blood vessel, killing the opponent. Only, the opponent must be still for it to enter and user must have enough reach the get to them. 1000 Skill Points (Must know Manipulation)

Nana ~ Young Diclonius
Reach Training ~ With each level, your reach with the “arms” can reach another yard forwards. 500 Skill Points (Must know Manipulation)
Multiple Arms ~ You can increase the amount of “arms” you can control. 500 Skill Points (User already has one arm to use. Next level has two, then three, and so on) [Must know Manipulation]
Projectile Barrage ~ User throws multiple weapons per the amount of arms they have. 400 Skill Points (Must know Manipulation)

Bando ~ A Strong Hunter
Perfect Aim ~ Using a ranged weapon of sorts, the user can fire a perfect shot at the opponent but it can be detected by the opponent easily of its coming. 600 Skill Points
Auto-Reload ~ User seems to stop reloading all together while the barrage of projectiles just keep flying at the opponent. Only can be used for 6 posts before it stops. 700 Skill Points

Kohta ~ A Boy With a Sad Past
Sympathy ~ If the subject doesn’t wish to mutate in a Diclonius, they can use this technique to halt all use of the Diclonius abilities from all in the users battle. 800 Skill Points ((If you learn this skill, you cannot use any of the Diclonius abilities. Nor can you learn this skill if you have already been mutated.))

Nerubian:

As Nerubian emerged into this universe he immediatley noticed how he stood out. Most of the people here were dressed in, to him, strange clothes(like real world clothes) while he was dressed in the clothes of his home land(Final Fantasy Clothes) not to mention the fact that not only did he have a Sword Strapped to his back he also had a rifle and from what he could tell no one around him even had a fire arm. He ignored most of the wierd looks he got as he found a nearby Card Shop and entered. He saw off to the side of the shop a kid that was dressed as strangly as he was.(Thats you Metal) He walked up to the clerk and asked what kind of cards he had in his shop.

Yusei stood outside of the cardshop as he usually did on most days, although he usually tried to find somethign to do on a regular basis, but today he felt like just staying there. once he had seen the strange guy walk past he smiled, "well i think this is the fate that was coming. my new opponent?" he said as he grabbed a deck of cards from his belt holder. he set them into a little machine on his arm that seemed to be a large metal wrist band with a special purpose. he then began to walk away as he watched a reflection seeing if the man would follow behind him.(he is heading to the underground area, follow him, and also Yusei isn't a kid.)

Nerubian:

Neru had noticed the man look at him and place his deck in a device so he thanked the man at the counter and followed Yusei down to the underground dueling area. As he neared the bottom of the stairs he took his deck out of his pocket and started shuffling the cards in a very fancy way(launching the cards 2 feet from hand to hand before shuffling them with one hand). He grabbed one of the spare devices off of a nearby wall and took position on one side of a open area and said, "kad ouin kysa uh" in Al Bhed and then, "Lets Duel" in English so that his opponent could understand.(Translater is next to the technique for it in Final Fantasy X area if u really want to know)

Yusei smiled as he turned from his D-Wheel and a duel disk was fitting itself uppon his arm. "hmm, fine then." he said as he smiled he drew 5 cards and waited upon his opponent to get ready. the duel disks prepared themselves as he waited for his opponent.

Nerubian:

Nerub turned on his duel disk and as his deck that he had placed inside of it automatically shuffled he chuckled to himself as he drew the first 5 cards that he would need more his duel, "Ill go first since im guest..." Nerub said as he drew a sixth card to begin his turn, "Ill Summon Elemental Hero Clayman in Defence mode(2000Def/800atk) and place two cards face down." then I will end my turn." Nerubian was going to have fun the cards from his universe were probably alot different then the cards from this universe though the rules appeared to still be the same as his.

Odd... I dont remember ever going swimming...

All around her, Furanken could feel water yet miraculously, she could still breath. Yet each breath... Felt cold and unnatural. Was this a dream? No. You could see things in dreams; right now, the blonde saw only darkness. How very odd indeed. The girl remembered opening the door...Entering this new world, and after appearing in an apartment she had left the complex and walked around for a bit... Then, something happened. She remembered losing conciousness and blacking out.

Yet if that was the case... Where the hell was she now?!

Jamming her eyes open then, Furanken panicked as she saw herself nude and submerged underwater... And the thing that allowed her each breath - a mouthpiece connected to a tube. Gazing through the thick glass in front of her, she saw a line of tubes, some occupied filled with water and girls like her, others were empty. Judging from the paperwork and scattered glasses and such, Furanken instantly realised where she was: she was in a lab...A place she was all too familiar with. She had become someone's guinea pig.

Her gaze jerked at the first sign of movement as she saw a man clad in a coat stride into the room. He walked along the various tubes, examining each of it's contents and scribbling something down on a clipboard before moving on to the next. Once he arrived at Furanken's he stopped however, and brought a walkie-talkie out from his side, muttering something that was inaudible to Fura... Apparently the glass prevented her from hearing things that went on beyond the barrier. The next moment however, two heavy-set men lumbered into the room and the scientist pressed a button on Fura's capsule.

Instantly, the water began to drain as the mouthpiece detached from the blonde. The many needles and tubes that were stuck into her then withdrew as the girl collapsed to the ground like a ragdoll. Soon, the glass was raised up and the two men reached out for her, and Furanken, too weak to even resist, only watched as they slung one of her arms over each of their shoulders.

"Take her to Chamber 4... Quickly. The drugs will be wearing off and her vectors will take affect!"

Vectors? What the ******** were those?

Hoo... So this was Chamber 4? Furanken merely looked around, still attempting to gather her senses as the large men chained her to the wall without even bothering to clothe her, and once that was done, they left. As her hair fell upon her shoulders, Fura felt an odd feeling on her head as well. Tilting her neck so that the top of her scalp could rub against the wall. Unexpectedly, she felt resistance. From the corner of her eye, she attempted to view whatever it was, guessing it was some random headpiece the scientists had placed, however she paused as she noticed the tip of something white protruding from her noggin.

...Was that a freakin' horn?!

After tilting her head to the other side, she had confirmed that there was a 'horn' there too. What the hell was this!?

Her attention instantly shifted however as she felt the creaking of metal directly in front of her as a thick, piple-like tube seemed to extend from the wall, pointing directly at her. Her eyes examining the tube, they widened with despair as she realised what it was... A cannon.

"By now, the drug should be wearing off," A voice echoed from somewhere above her, and after some searching Fura spotted a tinted area at the top of the large chamber where she suspected more scientists to be observing. "And the Dicolonius Vector Testing shall commence!"

An instant later, the blonde heard a thundering boom! and seconds later, something heavy and solid collided with her arm. The next moment, the air was filled with the sound of shattering moans and the blonde's screams as she writhed suddenly against her bonds.

s**t.

s**t!

s**t!

"WHAT THE ******** IS THIS!?"

The Kakuzu girl shrieked loudly, but of course, no response came. Only another cannonball, which this time, slammed directly into her gut, causing Furanken to cough up a mouthful of crimson liquid - her blood. Several more thunderclaps rang out as round after round collided with her form, soon leaving the girl as no more than a mangled mess.

Yet miraculously, Furanken took notice of something... With each shot that was fired...The ball seemed to be knocked off course several centimeters. Was this intentional?

...No. Something was redirecting each shot.

Nemu had opened the door, and stepped through. Everything seemed to blur for a second, as if it existed twice. Two doors, one over the other, occupying the same space, just slightly apart, barely enough to even notice. The walls had an odd shimmering effect, she wasn't even sure if they were solid. But then, as suddenly as it had started, the effect was abruptly ceased, and things moved back into focus. She saw that she was standing in the lobby of what looked to be an old, traditional inn. The floors were polished to a high sheen, enough
(9)

that she could almost see her reflection in the dark tan wood. There were a few scant decorations on the walls, simple ink paintings that nonetheless had an exquisite beauty to them. There was also a large, and very old grandfather clock at the end of the hall. Walking towards it, she listened carefully, but didn't hear any ticking. Curious, she crouched down and opened the glass door that was in front of the pendulum, that gave access to the gears. The pendulum hung still, not moving back and forth like it was supposed to. She wondered if it just needed
(10)

to be wound, or if the clock was well and truly broken. She was just reaching in to touch the pendulum when a sharp voice rang out behind her, saying to not play with the clock. Startled, she fell back on her rump, and squeaked in pain. Tilting her head back, she saw a young man, approximately her own age, looking down at her with a serious expression on his face. Of course, from the angle she was looking at him, he looked upside down, so the seriousness of his expression was somewhat lost. She got to her feet, rubbing the small of her
(11)

back from her fall. As she did, she noticed the boy's expression change. It had gone from serious to curious, and then it had shifted into confusion. She had finished standing up when the boy asked if he knew her from somewhere, she looked familiar. She thought about it, but had to shake her head. She didn't remember ever seeing him before. She didn't mention that odd feeling of deja vu from earlier because she was pretty sure it was just that, an odd feeling and nothing more. When she said no, the boy looked slightly crestfallen, but then
(12)

he hid that expression and smiled warmly. He welcomed her to the Maple Inn, assuming her to be looking for a place to stay. Once he said it, Nemu realized that yes, a place to stay would be a good idea. She had had no idea what would happen when she had gone through that door, and now that she was here, finding a way to fit in would be very important. One less thing to worry about would be a great help indeed. So she nodded, asking if it would be a problem if she stayed for a while. He asked how long, but she just shook her head, she wasn't
(13)

really sure. She had the feeling that if she were to open that door again, it wouldn't take her back to that foggy place with the doors. So she could be here quite awhile. He nodded his head, ever since about a year ago, more and more people just kept randomly showing up at the Maple Inn, enough that it was more or less expected to see a new face. Or at least a face. Even though she denied it, he still had the feeling that he knew her from somewhere. Even her outfit reminded him of someone, but who? He tried to think back to all the people he'd met in
(14)

the past few years, but nothing came to mind. Sighing, he decided to worry about it later. For now, he should get the new guest settled in. He led her deeper into the Inn, and introduced himself. His name was Kohta. Nemu introduced herself as well, making sure to not mention her ninja background. Until she knew more about her surroundings, it would be better to be careful about information like that. Maybe this land had no ninjas in it. She didn't want to say something that might alienate her, especially so soon after her arrival. So instead
(15)

she just followed as Kohta showed her to her room. Along the way, she saw a girl walking in the opposite direction, who greeted Kohta familiarly. She then introduced herself to Nemu, saying her name was Yuka. Nemu introduced herself once more, and then the three of them moved on down the hallway, Yuka joining the procession. Kohta commented that he was planning on Nemu staying in the Wisteria Room, to which Yuka returned a comment saying she'd actually just finished cleaning it. That seemed to work out well enough, so without further ado,
(16)

they made the rest of the walk in silence. Kohta gestured to a door, inviting Nemu to open it and look around, to see if the room was to her liking. she did so, carefully opening the door before stepping inside. It was a very nice room, everything was freshly cleaned and laundered. The faint smell of soap was still in the air, but undoubtedly it'd go away over the next few hours. She took her time looking the room over, then turned back to face Kohta and Yuka, saying that she liked the room very much, it would suit her just fine. Bowing her head in
(17)

thanks, she heard the two walk away, chattering amiably as they did. Just before they turned the corner and vanished from sight, Kohta called back to her, telling Nemu supper would be ready in three to four hours. Nemu blinked at that, she hadn't realized what time of day it was. It had been earl evening when she left Hidden Slumber, and the boat ride hadn't seemed to take that much time. It must just be because of the difference in the two locations, it was possible it was even just a different time zone. But she doubted it. So she thanked Kohta for
(18 )

telling her, then turned back to the room, her room. She didn't have very many supplies, just a few thing she had tucked away, inside of pockets and pouches and scrolls. Oh my. She unpacked those few objects, leaving any of the more obviously ninja items tucked away. The only things she pulled out for now were a few spare pieces of clothing, some basic hygienic items, and, after a moment's deliberation, a small box. She still hadn't opened it, she had the feeling that she had to wait for just the right time to get it. She remembered all that she'd
(19)

gone through to get it, that had been a very wild time. She was relieved to make it out of there in one piece, after everything that had happened. After what she'd been told, everything had seemed different to her for a time. Now, things had almost gone back to normal, but the odd headache from earlier had set her off again. She couldn't help thinking back to what she'd been told before, and she wondered if that had anything to do with the strange compulsion she had felt to come to this village. She wasn't sure, but it felt like there was indeed a connection.
(20)

If there was, though, it was a hidden one, just like if there was any truth to her feelings of deja vu over possibly being here before. She shook her head suddenly, as if she were trying to dislodge the thoughts, literally rather than figuratively. She finished putting her things away, and sat down in the chair inside of her room. It was very comfortable, just slightly overstuffed and just perfect for lounging in. She yawned lightly, but didn't worry too much just yet. She didn't feel that same, familiar and dreaded falling sensation that usually preceded one of her
(21)

attacks. But even so, maybe a small nap would help tide her over so she didn't have a repeat of the previous night's mishap. So she leaned back slightly in the chair, and wriggled down, slouching slightly as she got more comfortable. She blinked her eyes slowly, and then closed them. Letting her breathing slow, she tried to empty her mind as a precursor to sleep. And it worked, more or less. All the worry she felt over everything that had happened to her lately drifted away as she felt herself begin to sink into a deep, hopefully dreamless sleep.
(22)

And then, she slept. While she did, the rest of the Maple Inn was somewhat active. At the moment, she seemed to be the only guest, but nonetheless Kohta and Yuka seemed rather busy, taking care of the cooking while simultaneously doing some cleaning and setting the table. Yuka even found time to create a nice flower arrangement as a centerpiece for the table. She gathered a few of the flowers from outside of the kitchen window, clipping their stems at an angle to make them more easily able to slip into the spined pad.
(23)

A long moment later, supper was finally ready. Kohta and Yuka, while not professionally trained chefs, were nonetheless rather skilled at it, having cooked many a meal for the people who stayed at the Maple Inn. So the air had a delicious scent wafting through it, sure to get anyone's taste buds ready for a very good meal. Kohta went to tell Nemu that supper was ready, and knocked lightly on her door. There was no answer, so he knocked again, slightly louder. And again, there was no answer. So he carefully opened the door, and announced
(24)

his presence before looking in, just in case. When he finally looked in the room, he saw the reason there had been no answer. Nemu was dozing lightly in the armchair. He walked a little closer, struck by how familiar she looked. He just stood there, looking at her, trying to think of why she looked familiar, who in the world could she be? Something about that hat... He almost reached out to grab it, but stopped himself. And just in time, too. For only a second later, Nemu finally woke up. Perhaps it was because she senses someone was standing
(25)

close to her. Or maybe the scent of supper spurred her on. but either way, she opened her eyes, yawned hugely, then began taking in the details around her. Only to gasp in surprise when she finally noticed Kohta standing there, staring at her. She squeaked in surprise, and he quickly apologized, saying he'd come in to tell her supper was ready, but found her asleep. He had been debating trying to wake her up, but she'd awoken before he'd had the chance to decide. It took Nemu a short moment to calm down, suddenly seeing
(26)

him standing there like that had given her a start. But she thanked him, and said she'd be there to eat shortly, she just wanted to wash her face first. Kohta nodded, and gave her directions to the washroom. Which was good, because until that moment, Nemu had no idea where it was. Thanking him once more, Nemu got up and began stretching. After he'd gone, she finished her stretch, and then went to wash up, as she'd said. Once finished, she went to the dining room, rather than returning to her own room. Koha and Yuka wre just setting
(27)

the last few details out on the table, and Nemu couldn't help but admire the work they'd done in putting it all together. She may not have been an expert on flower arranging, but she'd had some lessons. That, combined with the vibrant colors of the food balancing the no less vivid colors of the flowers, created a style that she liked very much. With that, the three of them sat down to begin their meal. The table was easily big enough for ten or more, but since there were just the three of them, they sat clustered near one end of the table.
(28 )

As they ate, they enjoyed some small conversations. Nothing much, just the same sort of every day topics that pop up when people are content with their lot in life. It was quite enjoyable, and only made more so by the excellent food. Nemu began to really like the Maple Inn, that strange sense of foreboding and deja vu from earlier vanishing almost totally. Not absolutely gone, but enough that she wouldn't think about it unless something happened that would seem out of the norm. And she fervently hoped it wouldn't, she wanted to just enjoy a new, peaceful life for a while longer yet.

After several long minutes, the girl could finally see 'it'. It appeared to be a transparent arm, that floated in front of her, yet remained connected to her... It almost reminded the Kakuzu girl of a serpent. "So you're the thing that they speak of..." She whispered weakly, her voice faint and hoarse as she stared at the arm. Perhaps this was the thing that the scientists had been speaking of, Vectors, as she had heard them address them by. <********' arm... You're the reason they're putting me through all this s**t? You'd better be worth the pain!

Oh my... Was this insanity? Talking to a long, floating transparent arm? No, no, of course it wasnt. If she was talking to herself then they could call her crazy. Yes. That was the fine line.

She snapped back to attention however as she heard the clicking of the cannon moving back into place. The second barrage was about to begin...And so was her plan to escape, as eagerly then, the blonde looked around for any sign of escape. There was little else other than the thick metal doors that they had brought her in through and the tinted windows that was secluded in the wall of the room to overlook the entire chamber. Weighing the pros and cons then, she made her decision: in her current state, breaking through the double doors would be chore...She lacked the chakra to break them, and on top of that, escape this ******** hellhole. Thus, it had to be the windows... And a second later she felt the thundering boom of cannonfire.

I'm ready this time, ******** she lacked the ability to proper control her vectors at this point, she managed to send the singular, invisible arm to lunge forward, slowing the iron orb, managing to toss it aside a second later as Furanken finally activated her chakra pull, an audible scream coming from her back as the masks awoke.

"RAITON, GIAN!" The blonde kunoichi bellowed as the mask on her back instantly released a burst of energy into the pale wall behind her, blowing her body forward and easily shattering the chains that bound her with relative ease. As her tendrils slithered out from beneath her skin, they began to stitch her body together; even if they wouldnt exactly heal her wounds and bones, they would at least keep her body together long enough for her to escape, and at the moment, that was really all that ********' mattered.

Ignoring the sound of the blaring alarm, Furanken activated another mask, "Fuuton, Atsugai!" As with the Raiton Spirit, rather than actually seperating from it, she allowed the mask to remain rooted within her as it released a preassurized gust of air into the floor, sending the blonde's lithe body shooting into the air... Directly into the windows. She hardly even winced at the feeling of shards of glass cutting into her skin from all angles - compared to the cannonballs, these didnt even amount to 'bee stings' - and only smiled as she was greeted by the stunned expressions of nearly a dozen men in coats. Oh how she longed to merely kill them all... However, she had no choice but to shoot past them as she broke through the door and continued on down the halls where she disappeared...

---

Several ours later, Furanken winced as she limped down a flight of stairs, a trail of blood following her ragged form. She had once again regained control of her possessions, her torn labcoat clothed over her was dyed crimson - the result of her constant flow of blood. How she had escaped that godforsaken building, even she was fuzzy on the details... But she wasnt about to ask questions as she opened the door to another seemingly abandoned room, watching as the exit vortex appeared before her, causing her eyes to light up as she made a feeble lunge towards the portal, feeling her body get sucked off to another realm... Home.

After a while, the three of them were done with their meal, and began cleaning up. Nemu offered to help, but Yuka waved the offer off, saying that she was a guest, and to feel free to use the bath before going to bed. Nemu's eyes lit up at that, a nice hot bath sounded wonderful right then! So she thanked Yuka, and hurriedly went in search of it. Perhaps too much of a hurry, as she was already out of earshot when Yuka turned back to tell her where the bath was. That didn't phase her in the slightest, though. Nemu loved baths, and she'd use that
(1)

love to zero in on it. Like a bath radar or something. She smiled at the thought, imagining her moving around haphazardly, making deep pinging noises like a submarine. But then the promise of a hot bath overrode her imagination and she set the silly idea aside for later. For now, there was a bath to find! And sure enough, she found it almost without trying, like she'd known precisely where it was. Maybe she did have bath radar? How else would she know precisely where to find the bath, inside of an inn that she'd never been to before? But regardless,
(2)

there it was right in front of her, why was she wasting time thinking silly thoughts when she could be thinking silly thoughts while enjoying a hot bath? No good reason came to mind, so she bounded inside. The bath's outer area was pretty much normal for an inn, big enough to accommodate several people. Again, it seemed somewhat odd that she was the only guest at the inn, it was such a nice place to stay, from what she'd seen. Maybe it was haunted? No, that was silly, there were no such things as ghosts. Probably. Either way,
(3)

she couldn't help but take a closer look around her, as if a ghost would suddenly appear just because she thought about it. Why, if she had that kind of ability, she'd be finding baths all over the place! And beds, too! Laughing a little, she shrugged off any worry about ghosts or spooks, and began to get ready for a dip. She began filling the luckily larger than expected tub with hot water, and began changing out of her clothes. She folded them carefully as she disrobed, finally standing there in just her hat and a towel wrapped around her. She reached
(4)

up tentatively to grab her hat, she knew she had to take it off. But she still didn't want to, what if something happened? But finally, she closed her eyes, and quickly pulled the hat off. She'd already taken off her ninja band a while ago, and never put it back on. That hadn't bothered her too much, but taking her hat off like this made her head feel kind of naked. She rushed to the bath, to slip into the water and try to relax, to not think about anything that might go wrong. First she washed up, dousing herself with cold water, and scrubbing shampoo
(5)

into her hair, building it into a lather. She continued washing up quietly, her mood slightly soured while she dealt with her hair. She rinsed herself off, then set the towel aside as she slipped into the water, wincing slightly. The water was very hot, but to her, that was a good thing. She hadn't been all that active lately, but even so, she could feel the fatigue and stress almost literally being sucked right out of her. She leaned back in the tub, letting her head loll back against it's edge. She stared up at the ceiling through a slight layer of steam
(6)

from the hot water, and sighed. At moments like these, she sometimes felt in the mood to think profound thoughts, at odds with the silliness of just a few moments ago. Sometimes she found a deep thought to ponder for a while, other times she just got sleepy. She'd napped not too long ago, so it looked like thinking was the current order of business. Some of the same thoughts she'd pondered how many hundreds of other times came bubbling to the surface, despite her best attempts at thinking of safer things. Why was she different from
(7)

other people? Why did she fall asleep so randomly, and not remember anything during that time, not even dreams. Why did she get that strange urge to come here to Kamakura, even though she'd never even heard the name before? Why, why, WHY?! There were too many questions, questions that she didn't have answers for. She sighed and snuggled deeper into the hot water, trying to shelve those bad thoughts. Finally, she felt relaxed enough, and slowly got out of the tub. Water dripped down her body as she began drying herself off.
(8 )

She wrapped herself up in a towel once more, tucking it securely in place to prevent any embarrassing incidents, then gathered up her things and slipped out of the bath. She was just on her way back to her room when she saw one of the others approach her. She quickly fumbled for her hat, plopping it on her head as quickly as she could. Hopefully they hadn't seen! But even as she did put her hat in place, she could see their eyes, Kohta's eyes, looking her over. She blushed and held her clothes a little more in front of her chest protectively,
(9)

she was wearing only a towel and felt suitably self-conscious. A moment later, he realized he must have been staring and apologized, turning away. Nemu stammered out a reply, then walked past him nervously, hoping he didn't watch her as she walked away. She didn't dare turn back to look, but it felt as if his eyes were burning a hole into her back. She blushed deeply, hastening her steps as she paced back to her room. She didn't slow down until she was safely in her room, with the door closed behind her. She stayed like that for a

long moment, leaning against the door, letting her breathing return to a more normal tempo. Finally, she sighed, and set about choosing her clothes for the next day. The clothes that she had been wearing before went into a pile, she'd have to ask about a washing machine later. As for right now, right now she was getting sleepy. Even with her nap, she knew she should get to bed at a decent time, and now seemed like the perfect opportunity. She'd just taken a bath, so aside from the brief surprise of seeing Kohta, she was feeling pretty relaxed.
(11)

She slipped into her pajamas, and without further ado, slipped into bed. It was comfy, even more so than the armchair had been. She snuggled under the thick blankets, and soon was fast asleep. While she slept, her dreams were a jumbled mess. Some were the same nightmares she'd had so many other times that she had been terrified of falling asleep. And considering she was a narcoleptic, that meant she had been scared almost constantly, never knowing when she might go under. But in the end, the dreams had grown less terrifying, she'd
(12)

had the bad dreams less often, and more normal dreams more often. As for this night, it was a mix of the two. She'd have a more or less pleasant dream for a while, then stir lightly in her sleep. And when she settled back down, the dream would have shifted back to the bad kind again. Her expression changed just as quickly, mirroring her dreams as she occasionally smiled or frowned. This whole back and forth dreaming went on throughout the night, until finally morning rolled around. Unusually, Nemu awoke early, at least early for her.
(13)

It was only a little after eight in the morning. The sun was fully visible, already well on it's way to it's highest point in the sky. She looked at it through her window, enjoying the warmth it was shedding down on her. She got dressed, adjusting her clothing slightly as she tidied up the bed. From there, she gathered up her things from the night before. She wanted to ask about a washing machine, she didn't want to leave her clothes dirty if she could avoid it. So she left her room, and was strolling down the hallway to the kitchen. Along the way,
(14)

she nearly bumped into Kohta, who was coming around the corner from the opposite direction. They both blushed and looked away, before Kohta managed to stammer out an apology for the night before. Nemu shook her head, it had been an accident, he didn't have to apologize for that. Just then, Yuka came up, wondering what was taking Kohta so long. When she saw the looks on the two's faces, she glared at Kohta, demanding to know what pervy thing he'd done now. He frantically looked at her, waving his hands in front of himself as
(15)

he denied doing anything. But it was too late, Yuka's open hand was already rocketing towards his cheek. SLAP! He reeled from the blow, and staggered back a few steps. Yuka turned to Nemu, who flinched instinctively, after seeing Yuka's power. Yuka smiled warmly, asking what 'that pervert Kohta-kun' had done to her. Nemu blushed furiously, and tried to stammer out that nothing had happened, he'd just seen her after her bath. Then she realized that that sounded much worse than what had actually happened, and tried to amend it,
(16)

but it was too late. SLAP! Kohta fell back against the wall, bearing two red hand prints on his face, one on either cheek. Yuka dusted her hands off, then turned back to Nemu. She asked Nemu to come with her and have some breakfast. Nemu tried to ask about Kohta, but seeing the steely expression on Yuka's face made the words die in her throat. She was... kind of scary. So she followed quietly, trying not to do anything to set off Yuka. They arrived at the dining room shortly after, where there was already a simple breakfast set out. They
(17)

sat down to it, enjoying the simple yet robust flavors. After they'd eaten for a while, Nemu tried to broach the subject of Kohta again, but it was no use. It seemed Yuka was still pretty mad at him, even though nothing had actually happened. Just then, Yuka looked at the clock and saw what time it was. The small clock in the kitchen, not the broken grandfather clock in the hallway. Exclaiming, she leapt to her feet, and called out to Kohta, her anger forgotten. She shouted that they were going to be late if they didn't leave right now. Turning back to Nemu,
(18 )

she made an apologetic motion, and pleaded if she could clean things up. She and Kohta had to get to school, classes were going to start any minute now, and they couldn't be late. Nemu blinked, then nodded. She could do that, it would help make her feel like she wasn't too lazy and doing nothing all day long. Yuka thanked her gratefully, then rushed off to get ready for school. Kohta followed suit, every once in a while gingerly touching a finger to one of the hand marks on his face, only to wince and pull it away again. Then they were gone,
(19)

leaving Nemu by herself. She sat back down and finished eating her meal, then enjoyed the quiet for a moment, letting her stomach settle. Once she felt like moving again, she got up, and began cleaning up. She stacked the dishes up, and took them to the kitchen, to put the leftovers in the fridge, and then wash the dishes. All of that took maybe an hour or so, and by the time she was done, the sun was quite a bit further along on it's trek across the sky. She set the dishrag back down and washed her hands, then walked out of the kitchen.
(20)

She had finished cleaning the dishes, now to decide if she was ready to tackle a bigger chore. The floors could use a good scrubbing, so she set about getting a bucket of soapy water. She'd only just gotten set up to begin scrubbing when she felt a familiar dropping sensation. She didn't even have time to do more than dodge the bucket before she fell asleep in the middle of the hallway. Time passed quickly as she continued to doze, until finally, late in the afternoon, Kohta and Yuka came back, unaware of where Nemu had chosen
(21)

to fall asleep. Not that she'd actually chosen that spot, mind you. So when the two walked in the door, and saw her sprawled messily on the floor, they cried out in shock, thinking she'd been hurt or worse. They both rushed to her side, only barely avoiding knocking over the now cold bucket of sudsy water, and checked on her. Yuka put her head close to Nemu's mouth, listening for her breathing, while Kohta checked her pulse. Both checked out okay, so they somehow managed to move her to a chair not too far away. Setting her
(22)

down in a hopefully comfortable decision, they took turns keeping an eye on her, waiting for her to wake up. Yuka returned to take her turn, telling Kohta there was a freshly brewed pot of tea in the kitchen if he'd like some. He thanked her, and went to get some. Yuka sat down where he'd just been, and let her gaze fall on Nemu. Such an odd girl. She was a complete stranger, both to her and to Kohta. Yet it felt right that she was here, like she belonged here, somehow. It was an odd feeling, it was almost like she'd expected the
(23)

girl to show up and had been waiting all this time. Even then, she felt a slight wave of irritation, mostly focused at Kohta, at what had possibly happened between him and the girl. Didn't he know how she felt about him? Was he really that oblivious? Okay yes, he was actually that oblivious, but even so, he really should have noticed by now! Yuka was so lost in thought that she almost didn't notice when Nemu finally began to wake up. When she did notice, she sat up straighter and watched as Nemu slowly opened her eyes, looking
(24)

around in confusion. When Nemu talked out loud to herself, berating herself for it happening again, Yuka got confused. Did something like this happen to her before? Was it something serious? So she finally risked drawing attention to herself, and called out to Nemu. Nemu hopped a little in surprise, but adjusted quickly enough, stifling a yawn as she turned to look at Yuka. She greeted her, and asked if she'd been sleeping. Yuka nodded, and asked what was going on. Nemu sighed, and told Yuka what the problem was. She had narcolepsy,
(25)

which meant she could fall asleep pretty much any time and anywhere. Yuka gasped at that. Narcolepsy wasn't a terribly common illness, there weren't too many people who were all that familiar with it. It must sound pretty disturbing, knowing that you could just up and fall asleep, with no control over when and where. Yuka felt a strange compulsion to go over and give Nemu a hug, but didn't. Nemu yawned again, and asked what time it was. Yuka told her, and Nemu frowned. She said that meant she wasn't able to do any more cleaning
(26)

than the dishes before they got back, and frowned again. Yuka laughed a little, was that all that Nemu was worried about? Compared to her actual problem, that hardly seemed like a bad thing at all! She told Nemu not to worry about it, she didn't have to do any more than what she did, so it was okay. Nemu still looked a little bothered, though. Yuka sighed, and tried to think of somethign to say to make Nemu not worry about cleaning up while they were gone. Just then, Kohta came into the room, and noticed Nemu was awake. He asked
(27)

how she was feeling, and she replied that she felt fine, but a little tired. Kohta and Yuka exchanged glances at that. She'd just been sleeping for how many hours, and she was still tired? How much sleep did she need, anyways? Yuka noticed the time, and said that she'd get started on making supper, but after that, Nemu should go right to bed then. Nemu sighed but nodded, knowing Yuka was probably right. She felt kind of useless, not being able to help just because she might fall asleep again without warning. Kohta said he'd be
(28 )

back in just a moment to check on her again, then he followed Yuka to give her a hand. When they were both in the kitchen, they got started making a quick supper. Not as complex as the meal the night before, they were focused on getting it ready quickly, so that Nemu could get to bed sooner. As they prepared the food, they started talking, trying to find a possible idea that might work, to take care of Nemu during the day. A babysitter was just ridiculous, but they didn't want to just drop her off somewhere, either. The only other
(29)

solution left after that was take her to school with them, but that had it's own share of problems. even so, it was probably the best solution they'd be able to think of for the moment, so unless another idea came down out of the blue, they'd probably have to go with it. That's assuming that Nemu agreed to it of course. If not, well in that case, they'd have to think of something else. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that, though. Nemu seemed like a good girl, she wanted to help them clean, even with her problem. So if they asked if she'd go along with their plan, hopefully she'd agree with it.

Hido strolled sighing lazily through the large College's Laboratory Basement in Kamakura. He continued through playing little games with his shadow before him, molding it into different shapes. He turned it into a dog, making it stroll along side him, then a cat lurking as if waiting to attack, it turned into a bird soaring across the ground, tethered only by a small line connecting back to Hido before it snapped back into place resting alone into his original shadow. He looked around, admiring the beakers, the tools, the different devices these people used to achieve whatever goals they had. He reached over a nearby counter top plucking up a silver device resembling scissors. He rolled it around in his hands questioningly opening and closing it until he was satisfied. It opened like an alligators mouth, annoyingly difficult and required a good deal of strength, yet it closed with at least ten times the force it took to open it...Its also serrated and seems to have fragments of what appear to be bone of some sort, maybe horns from the color. Either way the tool was a marvel to Hido and he continued playing with it examining the two knobs in the back that determined pressure needed and pressure used, the different sizes, and even how muffled the snap back closed was. He turned it over and noticed a strange engraving on the inside of the devices clawed teeth. He sat on the ground extending his shadow and using shadow sewing to bind it open while he read in the inside. 'Warning in case of Diclonius attack, stun them, and remove their horns.' He removed his shadow cocking his head oddly. "What the hell is a diclonius..." He asked aloud to no one in particular. "What's a-a-a-a diclonius y-you ask? Well how about I show you." came a strange voice. Hido snapped around placing his hands together readying his shadows to penetrate through the mans heart and lungs when he noticed the man was merely holding a book. He seemed highly non-threatening and in fact was wearing a lab coat. Hmm I guess he works here Hido thought to himself stepping forward to look in the book. He immediate saw a picture of two naked women standing side by side. They had small nubby horns on the tops of their heads and seemed to have six arms protruding from their backs. "So...these are Diclonius?" He looked up asking the man. "Why yes,yes they are, diclonius are a race of beings created halfway by science that we have found to be near perfect life forms. They control these things, called Vectors, the arms on their back, to be used however they please. They are bloodthirsty vicious creatures of immense power. One of these small girls could kill an entire army...the vectors are fast enough to protect them from gunfire, and when used as a weapon can cut through the strongest of metals. If you make a Diclonius mad...your only choice is death...or become a Diclonius yourself...since they are creature of science they were created by us...we know how to make beings into Diclonius but...the only issue is its very painful...the rewards on the other hand are well worth it...I saw your trick with the shadows. I think that if you would accept my proposition I could turn you into a diclonius and make you into a perfect specimen, you could master it in a very short time. The power of Vectors is a once in a lifetime opportunity...all I do is inject you with this small amount of liquid..you will change grow the horns, and it will be up to you to train your first vector...The pain up until then will be immense but if you focus hard you can end the pain by training it quickly." The man said pulling an empty needle and a vial of a strange black liquid out from behind his back. Hido looked over the man carefully considering this option... "So these vectors...they grant immense power...easily enough to crush nearly anyone I come across...the pain would be worth it...the power would be worth it...it would help me become a perfect defender...it may even make me get rid of the voices in my head.", "Why old chap why would you like to get rid of all of us, I find our conversation not only enlightening but quite bolly, a rousing good time indeed. Though on the aspect of power these vectors do seem to be quite the extraordinary development, extra arms, not fully attached to your body but attached enough for you to control as a weapon or as a defense, and if they are as powerful as this man says than by god they would be quite an amazing thing to have in your arsenal. I mean think about the fight with that healer hyuuga not too long ago, if you had these vectors you would of utterly destroyed him in close and long range fighting, I mean honestly an invisible extra set of arms would be a perfect ace in the hole. You wouldn't have to reveal them, just have them there, use them as an accessory to your already wonderful power. You could fight with shadows, trapping them, then pummeling them in a rousing fisticuffs display just by thinking, you would never raise a hand again. Or you could make them openly known, using them as a shield to stronger foes by displaying a large power that is close to unmatched. You could become a god to people who weren't these Dicoloniomobobs and then stick it in anyones craw that upset you...you could of used them to save art.", "SHUT UP YOU OLD CODGE you don't know anything about that, it was a damn trap even with this I wouldn't of been able to save him...he saved me, I created each of you as a part of his personality...a different section of him, you the intelligent kind one, the General as his fighting sense, he was an amazingly crazy fighter, the aussie as his rugged life style, and the drunk as his sense of humor...I use yall as a means to recreate his life, and eventually I will make him be reborn...just as I remember him...just as strong even if he's reborn weak...I WILL have him back.","I see old sport..well if you feel that way then even these will help you in that matter with the power granted by these wonderful 'arms' you will crush anyone that stops you...you obviously wont get rid of us because you need us to get him back, I thank you for the importance you've granted us...now accept this mans gift before you seem rude.", "Alright." Hido looked up at the strange scientist, his conversation in his own mind finished and nodded. "Alright, ill do it." He said bowing his head and waiting. "A wise choice my friend...a wise choice." He said laughing. Immediately the syringe lifted out of the mans hand drawing both a mix of his own blood and the black liquid, and then shot towards Hido, the young ninja opened his eyes wide as the power of vectors was truly revealed to him and the needle punched all the way to his heart, injecting his lifes stream with the diclonius power. Hido fell over screaming in pain, the bones in his skull cracked, snapping into themselves. The skin in his head split, as two black stubs poked through and then grew forming small horns on the top of his forehead. He writhed on the ground and immediately felt everything about him explode into pain, his skull was on fire, his spine had turned into acid and was dripping down his back. His own shadows was screaming a strange hiss coming from it as it whipped around, bladed tendrils responding to his pain. The strange doctor grinned watching his pain and rejoicing laughing at it. "You have to train your first Vector to escape the pain my friend, only after that will you achieve the true power of a Diclonius" He barked laughing maniacally his voice penetrating the very fiber of Hido's being. Hido stopped spittle flying from his mouth as he felt a strange presence burning through his back and behind him. He saw a strange clawed arm extending from his back and gasped. "M-My vector." He gasped as the arm instantly responded to his commands. He got up onto his hands and knees and another bout of pain assaulted him. His mind became clouded and all he thought about was hurting the person who had done this to him. He looked up at the doctor hatred in his eyes and the vector responded catching on to his dislike for the doctor. The arm whipped around smashing two chairs in the lab and then reached over plucking a whole desk instruments and all, off the ground like it was nothing. The arm flung the desk at the doctor, who held up one hand deflecting it with his own vectors and grinned. "Well can't you tell the pain is subsiding, you've started to use your vector... now you will feel its power instead of its pain. " He said simply. Hido's eyes widened as the doctor's words sunk in and he realized it was the truth. He looked back and realized all of the pain was gone, all there was now, was the ignorant bliss of power. He stood up and stretched working out the vector and amazing himself with how controlled it was since it had only responded to him once. "Good good, now I leave you, with two pieces of advice. One, A vector is like any other appendage of your body, the more you use it, the better it becomes, the stronger, faster, longer...you get the idea. Basically the Vector can be trained into an ultimate weapon...The Second piece of advice, is that you don't have to limit yourself to one, as you saw in that picture you can have many many vectors, almost as many as you would like. The more you have the better you have it. I myself have a number more than one that I will not disclose to you...I leave you now, to ponder this and train your newfound gift." The strange doctor said somehow disappearing into the the very air as if her had never existed. Hido looked around and then at the vector floating eerily along side him. "So I can train you...does that mean if I just focus my chakra into you...that you'll get stronger...and that more of you will grow...well let's test this theory shall we." He said to himself pressing his hands together. He withdrew his shadow completely saving his stores of chakra for the challenge ahead. He focused all of his chakra, all of his energy into his vector focusing on growing more, or making it stronger. Immediately there was a tearing pain throughout his body and he was on the floor again. His vision was fading as he felt tears in his chakra ripping from his soul as more and more vectors grew from his back. He turned his head as his vision went back and counted four arms, four beautiful vectors sprouted from behind him. His vision completely blacked out and his head hit the hard linoleum. "Well old chap I do believe you've quite OVER done it in my minds eyes, though the vectors are quite amazing especially what that doctor did to you, a simple puncture to your heart which is already completely healed over...yes indeed it was wonderful procedure...I do believe you should wake up now dont want to risk someone ELSE stumbling across the scissor things you found and removing your very stylish horns now do you?" Hido woke up and set up against a nearby table rubbing his temples. He reached up touching the horns on his head and his eyes widened. "That really did happen..." He said to himself aloud gasping. He didn't expect that the whole thing happened. He thought it was merely another figment thing but lo and behold here they were four largely protruding things from his back. He stood up and started resetting the room to the way it was supposed to be, he wasn't a brute after all and then stepped out of the door leaving. As he walked he absorbed the vectors back into himself hiding them from view. He untied his headband from around his arm and placed it right above his horns covering them with the fabric and wearing it with the metal plate showing the leaf insignia sideways. "Well let's go show off" he said grinning as he left the area.

Hido walked back into the familiar lab and noticed that it hadn't been too long since his last visit here. There was still the desk that he had thrown at the mad scientist, the scratch marks in the ground of when he had learned to control his vector and the clippers that he had established were to remove the horns of the Diclonius. He walked in and sat down whipping out all four of his vectors and waiting, knowing that the good doctor was around here somewhere, watching waiting to see what would happen. He entertained himself again, though this time no with shadows, he reached out fine tuning his control of his vectors, menially grabbing items off of tables. Beakers, Vials, Scissors, Horn clippers, bunsen burners, aprons, keyboards, and even the kitchen sink. Nothing was out of his reach with these new powers. He had all but mastered the pain and the light stinging in his head was starting to make him dizzy when he noticed the scientist walking back inside of the room. "Well hello there Hido, I see you've been making good use of those Vectors, I knew you would enjoy them, and you've developed so well, I should reward you...I have an idea, I can train you, just for a little bit, for the sake of science. it would both increase your power, and increase my test results. You were a great host by the way, perfect training methods, good results, good time I must say quite fast and you even developed up to four vectors in a single day." He said chuckling to himself. He reached out with his vectors wrapping them in power letting them have a hazy red outline. "Alright, now then wrap your energy around your vectors until their outlines appear, this is so that we can see them more easily and it will allow us to train them better. Now what I'm going to do is reach into your mind and activate your subconcious vector control this will triple your speed with them and allow you to match mine, then I will assault you rapidly making your vectors fight to defend you this will increase your control without you having to do anything at all." He said reaching forward with two vectors. He reached one inside of Hido's head and immediately an effect was seen. Hido felt the strange warmth and then pain as the doctor reached his vector into his mind, something in his head snapped and he slumped forward. He felt everything around him as if he had floated away from his body, leaving himself as a separate consciousness. He watched as the doctor assaulted his body, swinging so rapidly the red vectors were a blur, and somehow his vectors responded fighting back, even returning the blows on occasion. He watched all of this intently when he felt a strange pulling sensation back into his body. He felt himself yanked back into his body immediately and his insane speed and skill with his newfound power disappeared. He took the next blow hard in the stomach and blood shot from his mouth. His blood sprayed across the tiles as blow after blow came in smashing his organs and breaking his bones. He fell over, blood already pooling next to his head as the doctor sighed rushing over to him. He placed his hands upon hido and a strange glow emanated from them and immediately all of his wounds were healed. Hido stood still coughing, a few specks of blood flying from his lips as he looked up at the doctor. "So what the hell just happened. Why did I snap back into my body when I was supposed to remain out of it the entire time. You almost killed me." He yelled agrily his vectors whipping around starting to smash up the lab. The doctor merely glanced at him and shrugged. "Well it's quite possible that your vectors responded to the stress by pulling you back into yourself...if this is true then you haven't fully mastered them and will need much more training...either way the results of this test are invaluable to me thus I thank you and yet again take my leave..." The doctor said fading away again in a way that was still his own. "I do believe old chap that that mad doctor was intending to smash you a good one, I would engage him in rousing fisticuffs round about. I was indeed such a rabble rouser in my day and age oh yes, many a village boy took the slam down at my expense. Ah what wonderful times back when I was in my prime, I did enjoy a rousing sport or two, cricket, polo, fisticuffs, ah I was such and adventurous lad. Hmm I even knew how to Crochet and needle point.", "...if you were created by me in my imagination how did you do all of this exactly? I mean the bounds of my imagination are only o much and though yall do appear in my dreams I don't think ive had a dream of you being sportive and powerful...", "Well...in an abstract concept of sub-concious thought anything developed by me is immediately developed by you thus creating a perfect back story, including my rough housery that is in the back of you mind but only activated while I the conceptual thought is doing quite well. I do that sometimes and oh the romance you have created for me. I mean, a kiss could be the perfect ending to this perfect evening with her our lips locked in an embrace that says things lips can only say when they're not speaking. One single kiss, filled with passion to the point where our very souls are overflowing with it. It would be perfect. Or, it would be not so perfect.","...stepping away from an imaginary love life between an eighty year old man and a young woman in my mind...gross...I think that the bedamned doctor actually did something for me...I feel more in tune with my vectors and I think I almost have the hang of controlling them properly.", "Well thats smashing good ol chap now you can crush all those who oppose you with the swift hand of gods, I do say this power is a gift from god ol chap.", "...there is no god...I'm starting to wonder why I never got rid of you specifically...", "Because on occasion I do prove to be an intelligent conversationalist and I keep your other minds in check.", "Ah that's what it was...back to how you were."

The cooking went fairly quickly, while Kohta and Yuka discussed their idea a little more. They tried to see if they could think of anything else, but it didn't seem so, the only option that made any sense and seemed like it would work would be to take her to school with them. Now all that was left was to ask her if that would be okay with her. They finished setting the dishes on the table, and Kohta went to let Nemu know it was time for supper. Half expecting her to be asleep again, he was slightly surprised to see her wide awake. He
(1)

coughed lightly to get her attention, and told her supper was ready. She nodded and got up, following him as he went back to the dining room. They arrived a moment later, and with that, the three of them sat down to a quick meal. Even though it had been prepared quickly, possibly even rushed, it was still quite good. Nemu apologized again for falling asleep earlier, saying that she would do better tomorrow. At that, Kohta and Yuka exchanged glances, that seemed the perfect opportunity to bring up their little idea, run it
(2)

past her, see what she thought of it. They exchanged glances a moment longer, silently trying to decide which of them would bring it up. Finally, Yuka sighed, she'd do it. She set down her utensils, and waited until Nemu was looking at her. She explained how her and Kohta were worried about Nemu, how if she could just fall asleep like that she needed to be somewhere where she could get help, especially if she fell asleep in a dangerous location. Like on the stairs. Nemu's cheeks flushed at being confronted with her problem,
(3)

she felt like apologizing again, even though at some level, she knew it wasn't her fault. Yuka noticed her method of bringing up their idea was backfiring, so she stopped, telling Nemu it was okay, they didn't blame her for it, but they had to think of something to do to keep her safe. Nemu nodded, wondering what they had in mind. When Yuka said she wanted Nemu to come to school with them, Nemu blinked in confusion for a few moments. Her, go to a school here? Was that even a possibility? She asked if that was really
(4)

possible, even though she didn't have an ID or anything. Yuka frowned slightly at that, why wouldn't the other girl have an ID? Even more curious. But she nodded her head, saying she was sure it would work out. Nemu seemed to think about it for a while, wondering if it would really be okay. She was a guest here, even more than what Kohta and Yuka knew about. She had no idea how to get back to her own world, or even if she could get back. So her best bet was to do what she could to stay safe and not call attention to herself.
(5)

And that meant going along with what Kohta and Yuka said, since they knew more about what was proper in this world. So finally, she agreed, nodding her head. Hopefully she would be at least somewhat familiar with the subjects, enough that she wouldn't make a fool of herself. Any more than what she usually did, that is. With that settled, they returned to their meal, and after a moment, a brief conversation. By the time they were done, it was getting late, though, so Yuka suggested Nemu turn in for the night, and she'd help her
(6)

get ready in the morning. Nemu nodded, already feeling sleepy again. Covering her mouth, she yawned hugely, then thanked the others for the meal, and got up to wash up before bed. Just moments later, she was snuggled under the sheets and fast asleep. Yuka and Kohta stayed up for a while longer, they had a much more normal sleep schedule. After the dishes were done and everything was cleaned up, they moved to the other room, and sat at the low table, both with a cup of steaming tea. They sat facing each other,
(7)

enjoying the quiet of an early fall night. Finally, Yuka broke the silence, asking something she'd been wondering for a while now. She asked Kohta if Nemu seemed familiar to him. Kohta looked surprised that he wasn't the only one to feel that way, and quickly nodded, saying he felt like Nemu had been here before, but he couldn't remember her. Yuka nodded, it was more or less the same for her. The fact that they both felt that way made them think there was possibly something more to Nemu than what she'd told them. Although, come to
(8 )

think of it, she actually hadn't told them all that much about herself. That was just one more question they had for her. But how to ask, without making it seem like an interrogation or something? They talked a little more, but in the end, they weren't able to remember anything more about Nemu, aside from the fact that they felt they should be able to remember her. So they called it a night, and went to bed themselves. Morning rolled around, and Kohta and Yuka woke up when their alarms went off. Predictably, Nemu hadn't
(9)

even set an alarm, and she would have slept right through it anyways. So while Kohta and Yuka made breakfast, they tried to wake Nemu up. It was a harder task than they might otherwise have thought, but in the end, they managed to wake her up with enough time for her to get ready and go with them to school. Nemu quickly, for her at least, got dressed and went down to the dining room. Like something out of a cartoon, she only had time to grab a piece of toast in her mouth before they had to leave. With that unusual way to
(10)

block talking, Kohta and Yuka found themselves unable to find a way to ask Nemu to tell them something about herself. So the three of them set out for school. Luckily it wasn't too far away, they could get there in time if they walked a little faster than normal. They wouldn't have to run, but they would have to pick up the pace a little. Eventually, they did make it, over the course of their rush, Nemu had finished her toast. But even after she had, Kohta and Yuka hadn't tried asking her, they had to focus on getting to school on time.
(11)

Just a few moments after they reached the school, they were inside, seated in the classroom. It was a more or less ordinary college classroom. The floor lowered layer by layer through the seats, and the lowest level housed a podium and desk for the teacher. Kohta and Yuka took a seat maybe two thirds of the way back from the front of the classroom, and a moment later, Nemu sat down next to them. Since she obviously didn't have any books or completed homework or anything, Yuka told her to just pay attention
(12)

for now, and hopefully she wouldn't have to answer any questions or anything. Nemu nodded, doing her best to look unobtrusive. Which was rather hard for her to do, since she was still wearing that same cap, the bright colors of which naturally drew the eye to it. They had only a minute or two of waiting before the teacher walked in. He was middle-aged, maybe a little older. He was fairly solidly built, he had the look of someone who was not unaccustomed to physical labor. His eyes had a cold intelligence in them,
(13)

and he had short dark brown hair. He looked around the room at all of the students who were already seated. Nemu blinked as she felt his eyes pass over her, lingering over her for a fraction of a second longer than what might be normal. She watched him, but he didn't look at her again. He greeted the class, welcomed them back to lessons after the weekend off. Without further ado, he immediately began getting into the lesson, something about relevant social experiments and the impact of foreign species into closed
(14)

environments. It wasn't terribly complicated if you had taken the lessons previous, but of course Nemu hadn't done that. So she tried to keep up as best she could, as well as fighting off any compulsion she might feel to fall asleep. Of course, if her narcolepsy flared up, she'd have no say over it, but she tried nonetheless. The lesson went on for well over an hour, it didn't stop until the air inside of the room had begun to get that stale quality from too many people breathing regularly, and no open windows. The room's temperature
(15)

increased as well, going from just slightly chilly to muggily warm, the perfect temperature to make one drowsy. Nemu tried to fight it, but failed, and had to stifle a huge yawn. Her eyes were closed in the process, but just as she began to open them again, she could have sworn she saw the professor looking at her. But as soon as she noticed, he was already turning his head. In a completely natural way, it looked like nothing more than chance that he'd been looking in her direction at the time. Class didn't go much longer,
(16)

it was only a two hour lecture for the day. There was no chime or bell to signal the end of lessons, they were over when the professor said they were over. Which he did then, setting down the book he'd been reading from with a slight thud. He dismissed the class, who began to get up to leave. But just as they were leaving, he called out to Kohta, Yuka and Nemu, beckoning them to come closer. Kohta and Yuka exchanged worried glances, but they tried to act like there was nothing wrong. Nemu followed quietly, getting
(17)

a bit of a bad feeling about what was about to happen. When they reached the lowest level of the class, the professor started with some small talk, checking up on Kohta and Yuka, making sure they had understood the lecture, checking if they'd completed the last assignment. They both replied in the affirmative, and he nodded, pleased with their answers. Then his gaze turned to Nemu. His eyes narrowed just slightly, barely enough to be noticed. He asked Kohta who she was, and he stammered for an instant before
(18 )

replying that she was his cousin, she had come into town over the weekend to stay for a while. The professor tsk'd in his throat, but didn't ask anything more, just mentioning that if she wasn't a proper student, she'd need a guest pass from the main office. The Professor turned to walk away, but they could just barely hear him mumble, that Nemu looked a lot like his brother's daughter. Kohta's eyes widened, he looked to Nemu, who just shook her head in negation. He frowned, why would the professor say something like that,
(19)

especially if it wasn't true. Did he perhaps know something? Should they try asking him about Nemu? But not now, at the very least, some time when she wasn't there. He looked over at Yuka, unsure if she was thinking the same thoughts. Either way, they couldn't just stand there, it was almost time for the next class. So the three of them filed out of the room, making their way to the next class. The rest of the day went fairly quickly, with only one or two mishaps. Nemu did end up falling asleep in the middle of the first class
(20)

after lunch, after having a full belly and listening to the instructor's somewhat droning voice, Kohta couldn't really blame her. She woke up easily enough, thank goodness, so they avoided getting anything more than an irritated glare from the instructor. Once classes were done, the three of them left the college, intent upon heading straight home. Since they weren't in as big of a rush as before, they didn't hurry home, just walking at a casual strolling pace. Kohta debated asking Nemu about earlier, but decided to wait
(21)

until they got home safely first. He just felt it would be a better idea to ask something like that when there was no danger of anyone nearby happening to overhear them. As for why he felt that way, he wasn't really sure, it just felt important to him. Call it a hunch. He decided to go with the feeling, because there was no reason not to, and if nothing else, if something inside of his head did recognize her, then perhaps that was what was causing him to have this feeling, too? It was a troubling thought, all the more troubling because
(22)

he couldn't just say it was all in his head. Yuka felt this way too, so there had to be something more to it. That was that, they'd have to ask Nemu to tell them a little more about herself, if she was really sure they'd never met before. His reverie had distracted him, so much that he nearly walked right past the Maple Inn without noticing. Were it not for Yuka's shout out to him, he would have just kept walking, embroiled in his thoughts. But she did, so he snapped alert, and turned back to come inside of the Inn they were staying at. It wasn't
(23)

really theirs, it was Yuka's parents, but they were letting them stay there while they attended college. It certainly beat having to pay for dorm rooms! Admittedly, when they had first started staying there, there had been some outcry. A young man and woman living together under one roof, without anyone to keep an eye on them? They were cousins, true, but even so, cousins only meant vaguely related, and cousisn could still marry. Then there'd been the third person- Wait, what? Kohta furrowed his brow as he tried to think.
(24)

There had been a third person staying in the Maple Inn back then, hadn't there? But why couldn't he remember them? Not even a vague idea of what they might have looked like, if they were young or old, male or female. Nothing. He frowned again, and then sighed. If he kept thinking about it, he'd just drive himself crazy. Setting the problem aside inside of his mind, he looked around, and noticed they were all gathered in the dining room. There were three cups filled with tea, just slightly steaming. He must have been wrapped
(25)

up in his thoughts for longer than he had thought. He apologized, and asked what was that that Nemu had said last. She smiled slightly, and asked if something was wrong. Kohta shook his head, saying that no, there wasn't really anything wrong. Then he glanced at Yuka, who sent him a look that he could clearly read. It said that now was the time to ask Nemu more about who she was. He sighed, then spoke again, saying that that wasn't technically true, there was something that was bothering him. Nemu looked concerned,
(26)

and asked what the problem was. He said it wasn't really a problem, just that, well, he and Yuka didn't know anything about Nemu, but they felt like they should. Nemu's eyes widened at that declaration, she couldn't help herself from saying that she had felt it too, but that she couldn't remember ever having met either of them before. Kohta frowned, he'd been hoping that she would have been able to shed some light on their problem. But no, apparently she was just as much in the dark as they were. Yuka took that
(27)

opportunity to interject with her own request. She asked Nemu if she could tell them anything about herself, they hardly knew her, but it felt like they did. Nemu was torn. She wanted to tell them, she really did. They were nice people, and she was virtually positive that they weren't from a rival ninja village. As a matter of fact, it seemed like there were no ninja in this land at all,so she could probably tell them anything she wanted about her homeland. But would they believe it? Something like that seemed so different from this land, she felt that they'd either think she was joking, or lying.
(28 )

She really doubted either one of them would believe her. She didn't want either of those to happen, but she had to tell them something! She didn't want to lie, either, but then, how much could she tell them? She stayed silent for a long time, and finally Kohta seemed to make the decision that she wasn't going to say. He sighed, and was just about to tell her it was alright, that she didn't have to say, when she started talking. She started slowly at first, unsure of what to say, how many secrets to divulge. In the end, she basically said
(29)

that she came from a very rural village, and she didn't really know exactly why she was here, nor how long she would stay. Just that she felt there was a reason to come here, as well as a particular connection to the Maple Inn, and to Kohta and Yuka. They exchanged glances, she hadn't really told them all that much, but it felt like she wanted to. For one reason or another, she felt she couldn't. They trusted her, so they assumed there had to be a good reason. Kohta let the matter drop, and asked Nemu if she'd like
(30)

to help them make supper. She quickly agreed, glad they were going to let her help. Yuka asked if it was a good idea, but Kohta said it would be fine, as long as Nemu kept a chair or something handy in case she felt like she might fall asleep. Nemu agreed, that was fine with her. She was finally going to be able to help. Yuka giggled lightly, Nemu was approaching this almost like a young girl, finally being allowed to help her mother in the kitchen. The last part of that idea made her blush slightly, if that meant she was the mother,
(31)

did that mean Kohta was the father? Her blush deepened, and she quickly got up to go to the kitchen, allegedly to begin preparing supper. In fact, she was just going out there to calm down. Matters weren't helped when Kohta went to follow her, and in turn he was followed by Nemu. But in the end, she did manage to calm down, and the three of them began making supper. With three of them doing the various tasks, they decided to cut loose a little and make a more complex dish. Nemu handled the preparation of the various
(32)

foods, chopping and peeling vegetables, setting water to boil and things like that. Kohta's job was to handle setting up the plates and dinnerware, along with pulling out the pots and pans. And finally, that left Yuka with the main task, the majority of the actual cooking. They worked pretty well as a team, and soon supper was well under way, and almost ready to be served. Only moments later, they were kept busy as they moved plates and platters, cups and cutlery, bowls and other dishes, setting up the dinner table with the same
(33)

flair from the night before last. Yuka even made a new floral arrangement. It was somewhat similar to the last one, but only enough that they could be compared favorably to one another. With everything in place, they all sat down to eat. The awkwardness from before had mostly gone away with the concentration that had been required to make the meal, and they turned to lighter matters, talking about how Nemu had found the college, if she wanted to keep going with them. Nemu said she did, it had been fun,
(34)

and a new experience. Neither Kohta nor Yuka had any problems with it. They all studiously avoided mentioning the Professor, at least for that point in time. They went back to eating, and finally, some time later, were all finished. Nemu insisted on helping clean up dishes, so Kohta and Yuka had no choice but to agree. The three of them cleaned up the mess from supper, doing the dishes and cleaning up the table and counter. After that, the only thing left on everyone's schedule was a bath and bed. Since all three of them knew that
(35)

Nemu would be the first to fall asleep, she was told to take her bath first, so she didn't fall asleep waiting. She thanked them, and went off to do just that. Not too much later, she emerged from the bath, once again making the mistake of wearing just her towel. This time, though, instead of encountering Kohta, she found Yuka, and quickly put her cap on once more, mentally vowing to put it on before she left the bath next time. Yuka blushed a little when she saw Nemu's state of dress, or lack thereof, enough that Nemu felt
(36)

embarrassed and tried to move on to go to her room. Yuka almost stopped her, but in the end let her go. Nemu slipped inside of her room, and spent some time organizing her things. She only had one more clean set of clothes, she'd definitely have to wash the others during the day tomorrow. Or rather, when they got home from classes. She felt glad that she'd have the opportunity to go to college with Kohta and Yuka. It seemed to be fun, and she would hopefully learn all kinds of new things. Smiling contentedly, she changed into her pajamas and slipped into bed, falling asleep within just a few minutes.
