However, posting a spell you created here makes it easier for us to give credit and/or rewards for very clever or funny spells!

Effects: Creates a pack of meatballs covered in staining tomato sauce. Also offers complete control over them. Wave your wand and the meatballs will fly, somewhat like the muggle WiiMote contraption. It will give you control over any preexisting meatballs in the nearby area, and is particularly useful against opponents who care about their clothes or are wearing white, due to the stain power of the sauce. They taste rather awful, due to the fact that real food can not be conjured out of thin air. This spell takes a lot of concentration, because many of the effects depend on the power and concentration of the witch or wizard over the actual effects of the spell.

The captains and all of Haven will be able to view all the user created spells to get an idea for spells they can use in their duels. Also, it's easier for us to reward creative spells, Note that in order for your spell to be picked as the spell of the week or rewarded it does NOT have to be listed in the Grimoire.

A few more! And in alphabetical order to make it easier for you!

Name: TonksAsKid
House: Hufflepuff

Spell: Aero Reductia!

Effect: A hex which reduces air supply drastically and instantly in a small area for a short period of time. Can cause up to 10 beings to black out. Best done non-verbally or the target can just hold their breath. (but that can be distracting enough to get a 2nd shot in).

Spell: Pectinus Cerebellum!

Effect: The infamous jelly-brain! It doesn't hurt, but it will muddle the target's brain to various degrees, so they will be unable to aim or focus and they will say and do all sorts of things way out of their usual. The effects are quite temporary, but very effective at the right time.

Spell:Wingardia Reducio
Effect: causes anything (or groups of anything) thrown or shot to lose momentum and fall harmlessly to the ground.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 28, 2008 4:41 pm

Name: Katieinthebox
House: Hufflepuff
Spell: Insigne Dentibus
Effects:
Causes a badger made of rock and earth to appear and bite or maul your opponent.

Note: This spell can be used in many ways. You can replace Insigne meaning badger with any animal's Latin name. Detibus means teeth. The creature will form from the element that the animal associates with. Examples: Badgers=Earth, Lion=Fire, Eagles=air, Snakes=water. If the animal has no element, then the element the caster is aligned with forms the creature. The creature formed can be forced to take on another element by including the elements Latin name in the spell for example: I don't want a Earth badger I want a fire badger so I use the incantation: Incendia Insigne Dentibus. The Latin names for the elements are: Fire = Incendia, Water = Unda, Earth = Terra, Air = Aer.

Caligo oculus: Causes the vision of the opponent of darken and disappear temporarily.
Silex amplio: Conjures a large rock.
Toxicum aer: Shoots poisonous cloud of gas from tip of wand.
Decoquo: Shoots blast of magic which melts whatever it is aimed at.

Confuto: Stops movement of physical objects.
Erumpo altilis: An explosion of birds from the tip of the wand, causing confusion and general mayhem.
Bestia fidelitas: Turns an animal's loyalty to the caster.
Culebra abigo: A large, herding snake appears. Yes, a herding snake. I don't know where they came from. Vicious and protective creatures.
Absentus caetera: Banishes objects.
Alienari: Slightly like the Imperious, but only works on animals. Causes a shift of alliances.
Rogus flora:Shower of flowers which trigger previously undiscovered allergic reactions.

has lasting effects.

That is a good spell fourtysecondscarf, but it is not a legal spell here. That would be a status effect that interferes with the DP roll and that is not allowed.

Katie, are you sure? Seems to me its a variation of the family of hexes and curses that includes Jelly Brain and Confundo, Dazzle and Distract, the dazing spells, that give the attacker points while the opponent is at affect, and has to recover. It's not over the fence unforgiveable like Imperio.

Yes, it breaks rule number 9 and interfers with rule 16.

"9. Absolutely no overpowered spells or potions. Example -Any spell with a created effect of doing double damage or more damage then allowed by dice rolls. However turning someone into something, like a frog or pig, as well as status ailment spells are allowed. Status ailments are basically anything that alters the state mentally or physically of your character. Example - Being poisoned or turned to stone or mind controlled or turned into a frog are all various forms of status ailment spells. We ask that you role play how you got turned into it and then how it broke, then continue your turn."

"16. Damage (Losing hit points) is determined by the loss of a dice roll, and happens only if you are attacking and you roll a higher number then the defender. The defender loses hit points of the subtracted roll. "

But I will check with Drake_Keiran. I thought we put rule 9 into place to prevent loss of turns and over powered spells. This spell is basically a loss of turn spell. The defense role would be useless and everyone to be fair should have their defense role chance and their attack role chance. Otherwise people could cast spells like this all through the duel causing the defense role to be useless. As well the effect can only last on one lost defense role. Though I don't think we wrote that one down. Yet again I will message Drake.

Steffyss, Drake, and I have spoken and we agree that the spell may be put in The Grimoire, but it
MAY NOT be used in duels. It was our intention with rule 9 and 16 to eliminate such spells from use in the duels. To remedy any further confusion we have add rules 29 and 30 that cover the two issues specifically. We do not want anyone making a spell that interferes with rolls. The act of rolling alone will determine damage. No status aliments may last longer then one turn. No player shall ever be allowed to attack twice in a row. Sorry for the confusion.
