Alexander tapped his leather shoes with no particular rhythm against the cold tiled floor of a long hallway. It was so hot in this place! He was pretty sure he enjoyed the harsh weather in Russia over sweating with every motion. With that said, he took off his reindeer skinned hat, playing with the soft furry flaps and combed his dark hair. After getting off the boats, his twin brother Nikolai was chomping at the bit to look around the new school that would be their home for many years. Sasha, as his brother called him, wasn't too thrilled with idea. He was still feeling woozy from sea sickness and just wanted to curl up on his bed. But he didn't want to be by himself and he tagged along even if he was turning into quite the stick in the mud.
So it was that Sasha found himself waiting close by in the entrance of the magic department tower. The space was dim and stuffy with strange aromas that made him uncomfortable. Nikolai was eager to talk with teachers from the magic school. Sasha didn't really have much of an opinion on it. It didn't move him like it moved Nikolai, but he wanted to be with his brother. However, he wasn't going to go room to room with Niki and he opted to just stand and wait by the doors until Nikolai was ready.

The doors of the tower burst open and Alexander's mirror image ran out into the hallway. He turned his head instinctively, knowing where his twin would be standing, and grinned at him excitedly. "Alex, it is wonderful! I wasn't able to find a teacher to speak with but the rooms are so neat. We're really here!" He reached out to hug his brother jubilantly around the shoulders, laughing jovially even though Alex was pouting.
"We'll be able to learn something. To become something! Come on, Sasha... don't pout." He gently poked a finger against Alexander's cheek.

Sasha let his brother hug him like a limp rag doll, patting him on the side. He was glad Niki was so enthused by their new surroundings. Alex was still getting used to it and a bit unwillingly so far. As hard as life was in Russia, it was a comfortable pain they shared for years. But now everything was new, and what if it turned out worse?
But it was okay, he had his brother. "I'm not pouting, I'm...... thinking..." He wrinkled his nose and snapped at the opposing finger, unable to stop the smile that tugged at his mouth. "I'm glad you like it all... I bet we can find a teacher somewhere for you it's like a school right? Have you... looked everywhere?" Alex peeked around his brother and behind. "Let's just keep... walking I guess..." He wasn't too trilled, but if his brother wanted to find a teach, he'd come along. Sasha followed his brother down the hall, each taking a direction at the hallways intersection.
"Well, what about him? Is he a teacher?" Sasha pulled at Niki's shirt and pointed to a man with white hair.

It was...a quiet day in spring. Sunny, not yet too hot, and mild without much of a breeze. The magic master Kyuu Shinji had long gotten his works for the day done, even if it's not that late in the day. Without much things to do in his office, Shinji left the office and decided to take a stroll around. The magic building was not a busy place like the one in science. Shinji liked the quietness, as it allowed him to think with a clear mind, away from any disturbances.
Although every once in a while some lost birds were found wandering into this mysterious realm. Today must be one of those days. Shinji's sensitive ears had picked up footsteps from afar. It didn't sound like Irames nor Javelins. Therefore, he concluded, they must belong to students and, judging from the pattern of the sound, they must be from lower division students, curiously exploring the area.
The master didn't move, but soon enough, the two said birds were close enough that Shinji could hear their voice. He sighed a little, and waited for the two to approach.

Nikolai turned to glance toward where his brother was pointing. A man stood, looking toward them almost expectantly. A brief moment of hesiation and confusion passed over Niki before he raised a hand in greeting toward him.
"Perhaps?"
Niki felt a sudden burst of excitement as he realized he'd be testing out his English on someone who was actually a native (or so he assumed) rather than forcing his brother to speak it with him. "Hello!" Though his voice was warm with his russian accent, Niki was very careful to pronounce each word. "We are to be new students here!" He wrapped his free arm around his brother once more, hugging him close to his shoulder to show that he was with him.

Sasha folded his shoulders forward like a shell, uncomfortable with being called out. He looked up at the man through his purple bangs, his face unknowingly twisted in a glower as he tried to his best not to let his brother push them closer to the man.
He didn't look like a teacher, he looked like he kicked puppies for a living. If this was a magic teacher, he would be changing as fast as he could. Hopefully not everyone was so.... mean looking.
The Russian boy raised his hand weakly in greeting. "Are... you a teacher?" Alex prayed this man was here solely for security purposes. That would actually be comforting.

Shinji watched silently as the two approached. One of them shouted at him a greeting, while the other...well, the other posed a question that came to him as a surprise.
But then again, the boys didn't know anybody here, which was why they were lost in the first place.
The master inspected the two briefly and nodded to Alex's question. "Greetings, and I am a teacher, if by teacher you meant helping students to learn magic." He paused, then added a question in return. "And who might you two be?"

"I am Nikolai Ivanova, and this is my younger brother." He placed both hands gently on his brother's shoulders, pushing him forward and in front of him. They were very near faultlessly identical, even down to their height. "Alexander Ivanova, but you should just call him Sasha." Niki smiled as he hugged around his brother's neck from behind, resting his chin on Alex's shoulder.
His eyes brightened with intense interest at the mention of magic. "You teach it? Magic? Perhaps I will be seeing you in your classes, eh?"

"Ah..." Sasha stumbled forward and inclined his head meekly to the teacher, totally pissed off inside how touchy-feely his twin was with him in public. It made him feel like a baby. Though he really did act like one most of the time.
"Are... you the only magic teacher?" Well that was a silly question. A boarding school full of students, he doubted they would leave it all up to one man. "Ehm nevermind, duh..." He looked up at his brother like 'shoot me now' and decided it was best to let Niki do the questioning. After all this was the field he wanted to go in, Sasha was just following along. "Do... most people go into magic?" Would this field be too competitive? He wasn't sure how willing he was to work for something he wasn't that passionate about.

"If you are intending on studying magic, yes." Shinji raised an eyebrow at Nikolai's question. The twins looked exactly the same to him (other than the color of their clothes), but they certainly had different personality. The master wasn't sure which one he liked more (or which one bothered him more), for now though, he was just going to stay neutral.
"And no, to answer your question, Mr. Alexander. There are two other teachers in this department. I believe you will have a chance to meet them as well if you frequent this place. As for competition..." He paused, and looked around intentionally. "I'm afraid there's not much around. For now, and for you humans, the issue is 'can you use magic at all' instead of 'how well are you able to use it'. It is rather clear cut, and you can worry about how skilled you are at it much later."
The master paused again and looked at the two with a curious expression. "Now what brought you two here?"

He let go of his brother, able to sense some degree of ire building within him. "If you mean the scool then it's because we were invited... if you mean here here, then to see if we could meet any teachers." He rocked back on his heels, giving an infectious smile. "At least for me. What magic do you specialize in, Professor?"
He nudged Alex's side lightly with an elbow, glancing over toward his twin encouragingly. Sasha was far too shy for his own good. If he had questions now was the perfect time to ask them, they had one of the teachers right here in front of them!

Sasha literally growled when his brother nudged him for the third time. His polite face twisted in pissyness and he elbowed Niki right back. He whipped around to glare at his twin.
"You're the one who is interested in magic," He whispered not very quietly, "I'm just following you so if you have any questions ask them. I don't have any..." The little boy turned back around, pulling on his blue shirt, and let his face fall back into a soft neutrality as if their little sibling spat had never happened. They both knew he would probably be moody the rest of the day, but he tried not to show it in front of the professor.

Hm, interesting interaction between the two. It seemed like the longer he talked to the twins, the more difference Shinji could be able to pick out from the two. He raised an eyebrow. "I see." The mere comment was more toward himself than to the twins, but it served both purposes. "I do invest my knowledge in every kind of magic known to our race." He continued to answer Nikolai's question. "I don't specialize in a particular kind of magic...or you could say the other way around. I specialize in all kinds of magic." The master of magic tilted his head a little. Did his words sound too ambitious?
"At least, good enough at them so I can teach others." He eventually addded, balancing out the pride hidden within the past few sentences. Turning to Alexander he smiled a little. It was not the first time he had seen students acting the way Alex did, they were still children compared to himself, after all.

Nikolai gave a soft oof as his brother elbowed him back, reaching up to hold his ribs where the damage had been done. He gave a sour look over toward his brother - if Alexander wasn't going to take the chance that he was so carefully and kindly try to give him then it was his loss. Besides, if he pushed hard now Sasha would only turn even more into a pouty-face sourpuss.
His eyes widened, his posture straightning in respect for the man that stood in front of them. Awe tinged his voice as he spoke, "Kakoi klosnii! How long did it take you to learn?" Somewhere in the back of his mind he had made the firm decision - he wanted very much to learn under this Professor, no matter how difficult or how many hours he had to dedicate to studying.

Sasha lowered his grey brown eyes from the professor, his own mouth twitching into the smallest of smiles despite himself. Smiles were always contagious and especially at the worst times. He hadn't meant to snap at his brother, but he really didn't want to be here all day. He got cranky when he was paraded around by his brother. Alex wanted to do his own stuff too, even if his brother thought he needed to get the stink blown off him. He really just wanted to go back to his room and read or something, by himself.
Alexander played with the cuffs of his shirt, stubbornly avoiding his brother's gaze. Ugh, the incense in this place was killing him. He rubbed his sleeve over his nose, taking in a clean breath of air.
