The pale white figure stood out among the green grasses and the natural colors of this world. He arched his neck as he grazed, well sort of, he would put his head down but that was about it. He was hardly hungry. He didn't even know what he was doing all the way out here. He had never been this far out before, although it seemed faintly familiar.
He let a small sigh escape his lips as he looked to the skies, they weren't blue today. They were grey from the clouds that haunted the sky. His eyes narrowed, what a lovely day. His tail flicked behind him as he moved forward to a small stream. Hungry, no. Thirsty, most definantly. He let himself enjoy the cool waters as he enjoyed the day to himself and not with the others back home riff raffing around.

Rascal wasn't handling the news of her mother's death well at all. She was still so full of rage and wanted to lash out at anyone -- or anything. Though there was always the slight possibility that the mare that was brutally murdered, the rumor that was circulating did fit her mother's description quite a bit and she hadn't seen her mother since her disappearance. It wasn't like her. She'd never go somewhere and not return. In her heart, Rascal knew that her mother was the victim whispered about. She wasn't sure what exactly a Skinwalker was but surely everything could die? She had to find Inmate and Xian and let them know what had happened. Perhaps they would be interested in finding out more about this Skinwalker in question. She was sure that her brothers were better at combat than her as well and she wanted nothing short of that b*****d's head laying at her hooves. What she did NOT expect was coming into the area and spotting a brother she had almost forgotten. If it wasn't for the familiar stripes on the legs, she probably wouldn't have recognized him at all. Hadn't she just been a foal, fresh from her basket when she last saw him?

Ares' ears flicked as he looked up at the crack of a twig. Someone was here and he wanted to be alone, if he was about to tear someone's throat out it'd be for someone bugging him during his time to himself. Water dripped from his maw as he lifted his head to see a dark mare, with stripes like that of himself. Crimson eyes and markings of his father, he shook his head. It couldn't be her, could it? He shuffled his wings, in an uncertain manner. He looked at his skull marking on his leg and then back to her.
All of Ares' muscles tensed as he watched her from a distance. He hadn't seen her since they were born and he still had a feux hawk of a mane. His cold blue eyes widened a bit before he let out a whinny to her, hoping she wouldn't run off. She was his only direct link to his mother. The mother he had missed for so long and dreamt of as a foal. Instead of the loving mother he needed he had the cold hearted Gaia.

Rascal wanted to turn and leave but what would her mother have wanted? She lowered her head and closed her eyes, trying to overcome the pain she felt every time she started to think of her mom. Though they never talked much of her 'other' son, she knew it was because her mother didn't handle the separation well. It was easier for her to forget about him instead of feeling like she failed as a mother.
She knew it wasn't his fault. Their father was the one that took to him and left, right? There was no reason to really blame her brother, but it was hard. Even now, he felt like a stranger to her. The only comfort she felt was knowing that there was some of her mother in him, even if it was only in appearance.
She owed it to herself and to her mother to at least talk to him. She wasn't sure if he even cared about their mother. For all she knew, he could have blocked her out too. It was possible that the separation had equally hurt him. Sighing, the mare started walking in his direction.

Ares didn't know what to do. He had thought about his mother and sister for a long time until he aged to adult hood and figured it was useless to dwell on such a thing. He thought they were long gone. As he watched her face he wrinkled his face and his brows narrowed. She made it look as if it were an obligation to come and talk to him. He didn’t want her talking to him if she didn’t want to. In his mind she was like every other mare, useless until proven worthy. Though if she had information of their mother than perhaps she would prove her worth. He always wanted to see them again, catch up. But it wasn’t a happy family who would get reunited.
He held his head, however as he watched her approach. He stood where he had as if afraid to move. He hadn't felt his heart pound this hard before. This was his actual kin...not Isis and not his father. Someone equal to him. She had his respect for perhaps just that. He felt that there was to be some kind of bond between them for sharing the same parents. The same mother whom he had missed for so long as a foal. Though he had Gaia, she was a unikalona. She taught him how to survive, not to love.

She stopped before him and looked down at the ground. It was hard to bring the words forward. It was harder yet to bring them forward to someone that was almost a complete stranger to her. "I know this is awkward enough for the both of us," she started, taking in a deep breath, "but I feel it's better to just get to the point instead of try to begin with idle chitchat only to get to the negative news later. I know you know who I am as clearly as I know who you are, though I do not remember your name."
She felt guilty at that but she wasn't sure if she had ever known. "I'm your sister, Rascal, and I think you should know...," she paused trying to keep the tears from falling. "You should know that our mom is dead. I know that you probably don't care and all, but I think it's important that you know. I think she would have wanted you to know." The situation was entirely awkward for her. She knew he probably wouldn't care and attempted to prepare for a heartless response but as long as she let him know.. that was all that mattered, right?

He watched the ebony mare spill everything he didn't want to know, out. His cold hearted eyes grew pale, and for the first time...he felt heart ache. He didn't like it either, for the first time he was sad. Emotions were supposed to be for the weak, he wasn't weak. "Dead." he said as he narrowed his eyes. "She can't be dead." he stated matter-o-factly. "She was young when she birthed us she..." his face fell as if it came to his mind. He said nothing.
"Ares." he responded when she questioned his name. As her head went to the ground he nosed her cheek so she could look at him. "I'm sorry." he replied with complete sincerity. She was closer to his mother than he ever was, she was getting the brunt of it. Though knowing he would never know his mother truly saddened him. She was getting him to apologize, something he was taught never to do but he truly meant it.

"She was killed," the mare stated matter-of-factly. "We have a guess as to what but we do not know exactly who had done it. I haven't seen her.. I was told.. it was horrible." She didn't want to pass on all the information she had learned. That the body was so mangled, ripped to pieces and strewn about the clearing she was left in. With her mother's absence and what description could be passed on, there wasn't any room for doubt. It had been her mother's body.
"From what information was gathered, we are sure it had been a Skinwalker of some sort. It's possible it could have been a Kalona as well, but we are fairly certain that with the amount of.. damage, it's most likely one of the cursed creatures that can turn into animals." The b*****d would pay, she silently promised. In some way, that creature would pay for his or her crimes. "Ares," she repeated after a moment. It was familiar. Perhaps she had once known it as a foal and had simply forgotten it over time. "At least you have your father," she added dryly. Perhaps it was a bit rude, but she still held a little resentment towards her father. Ares did not know their mother so it wasn't hard for him to deal with. On the other hand, if their father had been the one to die, she would have had it easier since she didn't know him. It didn't make her feel less hurt though.

He had never known either of his parents all that well, had never been close to his brother, had never known of the half-siblings he had out there... somewhere. But as he happened across two Soquili speaking, a wave of familiarity washed over him, and he paused for a moment, watching them, taking in their appearances, their mannerisms. Did you need to know your family to recognize them? The skull-marked stallion moved forward a few steps, not wanting to intrude too much, as the breeze carried snippets of their conversation to his ears to give him the idea that they were discussing something quite serious. But there was something about the two that simply drew him forward, and he made a soft sound to announce his presence formally. What did he say? Calmly, he nodded his head to the female, and then the male.
"I don't mean to encroach upon your conversation," he said after a moment, "but would it be too rude of me to ask who you're discussing?"

Ares' eyes weakened for a moment, he listened to her. Perhaps he could get information of said skinwalker from Isis' skinwalker lover. He now sort of spited them, the skinwalkers. He knew what they could do and what they were capable of. "Oh forgive me then." he hissed back at his sister. His eyes narrowed as his normal expression came across. "I thought maybe sometime in my life I could meet our mother and sort of catch up." he kept his eyes on her. "And what father? Erik? Thats just a bit of a joke, since he didn't know how to raise a foal and was to lost in himself to even care. My mother was a unikalona, she adopted me and I was hers until I could take care of myself." for once he had let himself go off the deep end and spill his life into someone that wouldn't even care. "Sure he was an irresponsible father, I hated him for awhile but you don't hold grudges. That will kill you faster than anything else." he didn't want her pity and he didn't care what she thought. Well, he did at some level.., but if she wanted to play you have this and I have that game, he wanted no part.
He let his ebony braids fall in his face as he looked up to see another stallion, marked with the same skull. He looked to the stallion. He stood their in silence at the male, he didn't know him. He may be son of his mother, but not his blood father. Perhaps Rascal knew him?

((I'm just a little bit confused since I roleplayed Jailbait as having known Xian and Inmate, since she was their mother and was the one to raise them. I know they didn't roleplay, but it's usually assumed that unless stated otherwise, a mother raises her children? Especially nice parents such as Jailbait and Tai Shan? It doesn't make sense that she'd just abandon them, it's not her nature. So yeah, I'm a little lost since it goes against what I've been playing Rascal/Jailbait as. surprised ))
