yeah...so we have a Light vs. L thread, but I also wanted to talk about Mello and Near....
In your opinion, who do you think was better, or do you think that they were really equal??
In my opinion (as much as I love Near,) Mello was the best. He was the one who took all the risks and action...even though he really didn't think at times, if it wasn't for him, Near would have most likely died and Kira never would have been caught. (Why did you hafta die Melloooo?!?!?!?!)
Not to mention, Near was too dependant on others....and Mello was just....Mello.... xd personally, I think he could have cracked the Kira case on his own without Near.....

I totally agree, Near had his agents out in the field doing all his work while he sat safe in his headquarters playing with toys. Mello was actually out in the world doing the work himself, He did have some henchmen but they didn't do very much.
Did you se the episode of Death Note on saturday? Nears voice sounded right on, but Mello had kind of a "Dude!" voice. It wasd kind of anouying. mad

Yeah, I saw it....I didn't think that Mello's voice was bad or annoying....it just didn't suit him at all...
but Near's voice OMG, it was just as perfect as L's voice was heart
but yeah....I really don't think near did anything.....if it wasn't for Mello and Gevanni, the fake notebook thing wouldn't have worked......all Near really did was look at tv monitors and find out that Mikami was working with Kira.........he was still useful and interesting....but Mello..........he's just.........wow.....(plus mello is bad@$$ cause he was with those mafia dudes xd )

Although neither of them where ever quite as good as L himself. They were good, but if they had to solve the case from the begining, I don't think that they would have gotten as far as he did.

Mello and Near are like horrably flawed L clones that can't aren't even half as good as the original. They didn't even have half the guts that L had!
Matt was only in like 2 episodes and then was killed by a couple hundred bullets to the torso! whee

Quillish Wammy failed xD the only reason they even got as far as they did was cause Mello took action....
and they were only barely up to par with L cause they had to work together....>.<
