I will be there . . . and greatly look forward to it! Unfortunately, it is my first con ever, so I can't give an honest review in reference to others. I just wonder if others will be there.

Well, back from the con . . . and disapointed.
Perhaps I went in with higher hopes than could be realized. Perhaps my inexperience let to my downfall. I was expecting booths of art and conversations. Mecca for transformer nerds to come together and have a wonderful chat and time! Instead I got a flea market.
A decent sized room was stuffed full of little more than a handful of display cases, and a deluge of stands hocking transformers and kit bits galore. I could not make it on friday, so all the exclusive figures were gone well before today. I literally spent two hours and was done. Nobody wanted to talk, and though there was an occasional announcement for a seminar, they actually amounted to walking out of the room and standing in line for an autograph. Which you had to pay for the privelage to get.
Now, don't get me wrong, it was a wholly negative experience. I managed to pick up a Masterpiece Megatron, and the RID Scourge in japanese box. My lady also insisted on getting me a Botcon shirt, which I like, but such is where the beneficial times end.
All in all, I am glad I went. If for no better reason than to know never to go again. crying

When I went last year, it was fairly much the same thing. I got to see Peter Cullen, they had the movie truck, and the custom stuff was cool to look at but that was about it. I was lucky though I was able to get the four Suvenior toy. I had to wait forever to get Apha Trion and Weird Wolf, but I eventually got them.

... Ouch... I was hoping one day I would go to the botcon... I was telling my co-worker about that since now I have 3 weeks vacation and I was telling him that one time in the future I will venture out to one of the Botcons and see. After hearing this maybe I should save up that time and go else where as it doesn't sound very interesting at all and even the stands don't sound like anything more than a mobilized walmart toy aisle... confused

The Masterpiece Megs and RID Scourge are great . . . and I have never seen either in stores here, despite years of looking. They make the trip fairly worth it . . . but at the risk of disillusioning others- Don't go too far out of your way for Botcon unless you get in on the first three hours and have a skidplate full of money to spend. Other than that, it is more of a wash.
I expected to see a large area full of booths that sold their wares (which there was), where discussions of all things Transformers went on (which there was not). I wanted to see the guests on a platform, likely at a table with mics to answer questions or perhaps give interviews to rows of fans. Instead it was just a toyshow for kitbashers and collectors.
I am unhappy. I am . . . disappointed.

Magni Prime I wanted to see the guests on a platform, likely at a table with mics to answer questions or perhaps give interviews to rows of fans. Hey they did have those you probably just missed them. I paid close attention to the announcements and got to see Peter Cullen.
I agree the Botcon wasn't everything I was hoping it to be either, but heck finding toy's I've been looking forever for, seeing the voice of Optimus Prime, and seeing the movie truck made it worth it in my opinion.
Thank to the Botcon I have a G1 Ractet, and Goldbug.

Most of the announcements were for door prizes . . . and I did listen. Towards the end of my visit they had an autograph session with David Kaye, and the voices of BB and Sari from the new series. No Q&A, though.

Wow, that doesn't sound awesome at all. Not even a Michael Bay Sparkler of awesome. Well, I suppose maybe a Michael Bay Firecracker of awesome because you found Mp-04 (I think it's 4) and Scourge.
I've heard Mechacon is more of what you expected. Maybe you should try going there next year?

Went with a friend to stay with another friend and it was pretty fun!
I bought a Revoltech Starscream, a Japanese Bumblebee toy, little Bumblebee and Soundwave chibi toys, and light-up Energon cubes as well as some neat TF clothes, including a BEAUTIFUL pair of pajama pants with TF symbols all over it!
I also laughed hard with my friends when we posed with fans dressed in Transformers costumes (I tried to flirt with one disguised as Starscream, BTW.)
It wasn't a bad trip at all! 3nodding
