((Note: The important sections to read in the Dark Clan include the 'introduction and history', 'general landscape', and all the stuff highlighted in bright red over in the profiles section. The other stuff is here for you to read when you need more information.))
It is 500 years in the future of the cat demon world. Many things have happened to the Dark Clan over the course of that time. The clan prospered and the population grew. Many more structures were built in the area to accommodate the growth and technological advances. Things grew too quickly, and eventually the Dark Clan invaded the Shadow Clan area and drove most of the residents away from their home in order to gain more territory and resources for themselves. And not too long after they lost control of the territory to a large group of demon wolves.
While the Dark Clan was creating technology to gain faster access into other areas, a few of the Shadow Clan people planned an attack to get revenge against the Dark Clan. Eventually the Shadow Clan people assaulted the Dark Clan, damaging buildings and destroying technology as they went. A few even went to try to sabotage the portals for their own gains, but instead they caused the portals to malfunction and open up the gateway to Hell.
Many Hell spawn flooded into the Dark Clan area and caused even greater destruction. They killed off many Dark Clan people as well as the Shadow Clan people who were there, including the Dark Clan leader. Both sides fought viciously in the battle, but the Hell demons had the upper hand since the energies of Hell caused the technology of the Dark Clan to shut down. In a last ditch effort, Zero took his position as leader again and commanded Loki to take the Dark Clan people to safety through one of his portals. While many of the Dark Clan people escaped through the portal, the portal was closed off quickly and the ones who left weren't heard from again. The remaining Dark Clan people either sought shelter in Zero Tower or continued fighting.
Zero was one of the few who continued fighting amongst the unimaginable number of demons, chanting the entire time he was battling. As he finished his chant he unleashed his Holocaust attack, wiping out much of the horde and was hoping to destroy the portal. Unfortunately, the portal wasn't in control anymore since Hell's aura forced it to remain open, so his attack did little more then distort the portal for a second. As a side effect of using the Holocaust, he was unable to continue fighting, much less move.
When the fighting subsided, Dusk declared himself as the leader of the Dark Clan and found Zero lying on the ground. Dusk, in one of his devious ideas, offered a small section of the Dark Clan that would be off limits to the Hell demons so that the Dark Clan people could continue living without the worry of being attacked, and in exchange Zero would have to serve under Dusk. Zero, being a person who puts others before himself, agreed to the arrangement.
So now, the surface of the Dark Clan territory is occupied with demons from Hell and much of the land and its life has been distorted by the mutating effects of the portal. The refugees or survivors now live below the surface or within Zero Tower because those are the only safe places for them to live.

General Landscape The Dark Clan territory lies in a nearly secluded area of the world. To the West, it is connected to the River Clan territory and swamps make up much of the area between the two territories. The North and East are bordered by the Ocean, and to the South there is a river that separates its borders from the Earth Clan. On the Dark Clan side, just across from the Earth Clan, there are a few golden trees which is called the Golden Divide. When you are within the area, you can see that some areas are covered in thick patches of fog and the temperature is cool. The main source of light comes from the pulsating red area in the center of a swirling black mass of clouds which floats directly above the portal to Hell. The plants, creatures, and land closest to the portal are more twisted and nightmarish than most of the other parts of the Dark Clan due to the demonic aura radiating from the portal. Near the center, and not too far from the portal is the Castle of Murals. Next to that is Zero Tower. Further East is the gladiator arena and armored center. The city is built around the portal, and much of it is dedicated to the military and manufacturing plants. There are many machines and droids that are powered by the souls of those who were victims to the demons (though technology here is slightly different from the rest of the world, it's not as advanced as having lasers and the like). On the outer portions of the city lie the ruins of old buildings, wreckages of old machinery, and scattered bones.
Normal beings (those who aren't denizens from Hell) are at high risk if they enter this area without some form of protection. Being exposed too long to the demonic aura from the portal can cause mutations, though certain spells and artifacts can certainly negate the effects of the radiation from the portal. There is also a high chance of an attack from the demons. And of course, normal machinery will have little to no functionality within this area due to the demonic aura from the portal.
Machine Yard This is a pit-like area where the old, broken down machines of the Dark Clan are dumped and then refurbished to function the same way as the technology from Hell.
The Golden Divide This refers to the line of glowing, golden trees that stretch along the Dark Clan border just across from the Earth Clan. So far there seventeen trees that are like this, two of them are in the area of the ruins and dangerously close to the city. The trees' gold color and bright sparkles that come off of them make them extremely difficult to miss within the darkened landscape. They have the power to nullify the effects of the demonic auras and even have the ability to reverse mutations. They also cause pain to demons who wander too close to them, and if the demons stay near the tree for too long they would change into humans. Unfortunately, the power can only extend to a few feet beyond each tree. So a person who leaves the shelter of one of the trees puts themselves at risk against the demons and the aura. Those who have been returned to human would once again be in danger of the mutating effects of the area. And demons who were turned into humans by the trees, if they returned to the areas where the demonic energies are, are capable of making a slow recovery back to their original demonic forms. Travelers who aim to cross into the demon territory may wish to use a twig or a leaf for several hours worth of protection against the radiation, though doing so has very little effect as a demon repellent unless a person equips themselves in a cloak made of tree bits. Even though their abilities are not well known, the trees are capable of communicating and are able to instruct any passerby on what to do. The trees were burned down by Zero due to Dusk's orders to destroy them.
((Go here for more background information about the trees: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?page=1&t=12433437#150844906 ))
Refugee City There is a labyrinth of tunnels and catacombs far below the city, enough to keep it safe away from the harmful auras which has enabled the more basic robots to remain active. Holy artifacts are kept near the electrical generators to repel demons from that equipment and also for an extra layer of protection against the outer radiation. There, drones work to help build homes and maintain equipment so that the people living below the ground can live relatively comfortably. ((this description may be edited later))
Zero Tower Zero Tower is nearly a shadow of its former glory. The aura has caused it to lose much of its technological functionality. Within the tower are several floors, and a make-shift elevator to get to each floor. Each of the floors has an ample amount of rooms that one can reside in or hide in if needs be. On one of the upper levels there is a large holy-type artifact which has protected some of the rooms around it against the effects of the demonic aura as well as being a deterrent for demons to come near those few rooms. There is a small generator near the artifact to provide for basic power to light up the rooms of the tower and allows some of the basic systems to remain functioning within that limited area. It is also there where the smaller holy-artifacts could be recharged. A description for the old tower can be found here: http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/viewtopic.php?t=10155301 ((this description may be edited later))
Castle of Murals This giant structure is not too far up North of where Zero Tower stands. Outside, its ornamentation resembles something akin to a gothic cathedral. It stands out from the rest of the landscape, being formed from a special stone that has the appearance of pearl but has a soft, wavering glow that gives visitors an eerie feeling from just looking at it. There are four entrances with large double doors, one to the North, South, East, and West sides. Upon entering the structure, the first thing visitors will see is a hallway that is large enough for a giant to walk through it comfortably. There are pillars that line along the walls that look like dead white trees that reach up to the ceiling, whereupon the branches become a tangle of roots that curve in an arch-like fashion to support the roof. These pillars also radiate a soft glow, lighting the hallways. Between the roots along the ceiling, an illusion of a night sky filled with stars can be seen. When one looks down at the walls, they can see murals depicting war and death, but instead of a stationary mural it seems to have a life of its own. Trapped as part of the paintings are the souls of those who have been defeated by the demons, caught in an eternal battle against other condemned souls, though none of the souls remain dead and return to battle and kill others who are trapped, putting them in a futile struggle. The floor is made from plain marble tiles that give the illusion that they are sinking beneath you if you stand too long on them. When one ventures further down this hallway, the white tree pillars gradually appear to be oozing blood, and the pillars down further stare at you through bloodshot eyes and bare their gnashing, dagger-like teeth. These hallways often change positions without you realizing it, making it easy to get lost and trapped in this place. And even worse, there are several giant hell spawn who roam about these enchanted hallways in search of lost travelers to devour. However, if a visitor were to brave feeling the pillars or the walls, they may find one of the many hidden tunnels shrouded by the spell, and which do not have the same nightmarish appearance. They appear to have been built with the same design and material as the exterior of the building. The tunnels are the only way to get from place to place within the castle. The first few rooms that one will most likely encounter is the armor room and hall of paintings. Further on are entrances to the council room and individual meeting rooms. A flight of stairs has to be used to get to the the living quarters, dining hall, kitchen, and the like. And further up are the personal rooms used by the leader. These top-most rooms that the leader uses are magically sealed off and can only be opened by the leader and those he allows, or for those who know the right incantation. However the highest floor in the building can be accessed by anyone. It looks similar to a forest, filled with white trees, much like the hallways below. However, Along the walls are giant mirrors and between every other mirror there is an open window that gives you clear sight of the dark clan's landscape from a bird's eye view. The mirrors give anyone in the room the capability to spy into any place that is exposed to the aura from the portal as well as the ability to have two-way communication between the throne room and area viewed in the mirror. In the center of this room is a large throne that sits on top of a mound of giant vines, high enough in the room where the person sitting on the throne can see much of the landscape through the windows. The vines can be commanded by the leader to rotate the throne to view the landscape from a different side.
Gladiator Arena It is about the size of a baseball stadium with seats inclining on risers that surround the battle ground. Off on one side there is a special viewing area for the leader and special guests, and has lavishly hand-crafted seats and servants to tend to every whim of the people who have the privilege of being in such a special area. There are two domes, one giant dome made of various metals that umbrella the spectator areas as well as the center, and has various blazing balls of light set in the dome that give the area the appearance of being stuck in a place that seems like it's going to burst into flames. The battle grounds are also under another dome, which is made of bullet proof glass so that the spectators remain safe and clean from all the messes of the battle. This area is mostly used to pit rebels, prisoners of war, victims, and the like against each other in a battle to the death. The corpses are gathered as food for hell demons and the souls of those who are slain are collected, either to be tormented further or to be used to power the hell demon's machinery. This place is heavily protected against the demonic auras so that the victims retain their original face. Below the arena is a large prison-like structure to hold victims until their time has come.
Hell Hell is in a dimension between the worlds, and it is on a large, thick disk rather than something spherical like our world. So it can be said that there is a bottomless pit that you can kick someone into, if you can kick them far enough away from the edge so that the gravitational pull doesn't reel them back in. It would take a person several years to travel from one edge of the disk to the other, even if they traveled by some sort of vehicle. One side of the disk is constantly cold and it always seems like night. Even though it seems like a place where nothing would live, the ground is always writhing with life that lives beneath the surface, almost like an ocean of worms. There are a few pillars and trees that are stationary and aren't effected by the swarming life below. These pillars and trees are used to anchor the floating buildings to Hell's surface. In fact, there is one large building about the size of a small continent that is being held down. There is a giant web that acts as the roof for this building and contains the same orbs of light that are contained in the gladiator arena on the other side of the portal. Large poles hold up the web, and below are various types of areas, most of which are used to perform evil deeds to the souls that were condemned to this place from other worlds. There are also other smaller buildings within this one, though they are more scattered about rather than being set into large communal clumps. The walls of the large building are made of tall, thorny vines with very few gaps that can be considered exits out of the place. Those who try to traverse the moving ground below will most likely get eaten. On the other side of the disk, the landscape is flooded with lava flows and high rocky mountains. There aren't a lot of demons who live on this side since most of the residents are giants who are not picky in the things they eat.

I'm having trouble deciding which clan to join. Which clan is right for me? While I can't answer that completely for you, it's best for you to go around and see what the other clans are like. You can usually tell what the atmosphere of a clan is like by reading the first few posts in each clan thread. The one that suits your interests the most will be the one you join. However, you are free to join as many clans as you wish, but please keep in mind that all the clan threads are part of one world (so that means you can't create the same character with different profile attributes in the other clans).
Can I participate in the other rp threads? Yes, you can. Your character can be from the dark clan, and travel to and participate in the other clans. Just make sure you know the landscape of those areas before you start posting in those threads.
Are all the people in the Dark Clan evil? No, not actually. Some of us will be extremely evil when we play our characters, but that doesn't necessarily mean that we're really like that in real life. Remember, these are 'role play' characters. Try not to take it too seriously, the rp's are here for good ol' made-up fun.
Hey, I have an evil character, can I butcher someone? You can certainly write about how your rpc (role-play character) killed another character, just make sure that you aren't writing about killing an rpc that is being played by someone else.
I still don't understand what god-moding is. Can you explain? God-moding takes several forms, and every single one of them is not allowed: -killing another person's rpc without their permission -giving your character/weapon insanely powerful abilities -giving your character/weapon way too many abilities -invincibility -always dodging/evading without getting a single scratch -infinite instant healing -auto-hitting (this means taking action (eg punching, kicking, stabbing, etc.) against another rpc in a fight without giving that person a chance to react. A good way of avoiding this is to write what your abilities would do to another person's rpc if that rpc were hit, eg "If the punch hit its target, it would cause so-and-so to get knocked to the ground") -taking control of someone else's rpc -defying natural spacial limitations (eg talking in one place then appearing in another within an instant even though the character doesn't have teleportation abilities). please describe how your character got to a certain place, even if they do have teleportation. -defying time limitations. things like...saying that from one post to another, there is a gap of several years with zero explanation or without the consent of the other people in the thread. try to be realistic about the way time flies. -having instant/infinite knowledge when your rpc doesn't have the capability of doing so (eg knowing another rpc's name without anyone telling your rpc, knowing what happened in some other rpc's past without being told, knowing what's going on in another rpc's head, etc.)
The list goes on, but that should give you a basic idea of what god-moding is.

Up in the white castle and within the throne room, a very frustrated Dusk paced between an opened window and his throne. Finally, he stopped in front of the view of the landscape before him, peering down at the city and the area beyond it. There in the distance he could see small golden dots that stuck out in the grayed and blackened background, never wavering but giving an unfaltering light similar to a star in the night sky. He knew well what they were and he also knew the consequences of letting such an invasion on his own territory to continue. He needed to stop this enemy, but the demonic weapons and attacks upon the trees have always had very little effect on damaging the plants, as if the trees had some sort of shield spell to protect themselves.
Dusk didn't want to go to deal with the problem himself, and preferred to have others do the dirty work for him. Of course he was playing around with the idea of using one of the former Dark Clan people to eliminate the invader since he saw one of the world's native residents approach a tree and cut off one of its branches with no trouble. The trees must have had a spell to allow the native residents to do such things.
He went back to his throne and sat down, with a grin gradually forming on his face, "On second thought, this could be entertaining."

Reinji petted the prisoners head affectionately she did not know her name but that was not necessary for she did not come to her for small talk. Reinji smiled revealing her fangs The short haired blond human girl that was chained to the wall before her cringed and a tear slid down her cheek. Reinji held the girls face still by her chin and ran her tongue up the side of her face consuming the salty liquid.
"please don't kill me I'm only 16 just let me go i would do anything just don't hurt me" The girl said as the sobs came that she had been holding back.
"shhhhhh....what i want you to do is die it will not hurt that ill spare you" Reinji said as she lowered her hood.
In a flash the girls face was forced to her left side and Reinji's fangs sank in. The girl didn't scream she never had time to. Instead she simply panted and appeared to be blushing. It looked as though Reinji's words where true the girl didn't seem to be in pain her eyes very slowly began to close. Reinji with drew from her meal moments after the girls eyes locked shut. Reinji sunk down to the floor breathing very slowly her eyes half closed the virgin blood coursing through her body was having a profound effect she was ridding on a roller coaster as if she had just taken a hard drug and was going along for the ride.
Reinji finally snapped to her senses an hour or so later the sound of a rat scurrying about woke her from the daze she had been in. She placed her thumb in to her mouth and pushed it into one of her fangs pricking it then she began drawing a large circle with symbols in her own blood. when she finished the wound closed on her finger and the marking glowed dark red. She stepped into the circle and vanished along with the circle itself.
A glowing dot appeared on the floor of the throne room beside the window and began forming a pattern onto the floor once it was finished Reinji appeared the blood magic transportation circle on the floor began to vanish.
Reinji gripped the sides of her dress and pulled them up slightly and she curtsied bowing her head and keeping it down she remaining as still as a statue.
"Sire I am at your service, I killed one of the prisoners i was hungry so i drained her dry or you angry with me my lord?" Reinji said in a almost teasing fashion.

Dusk had been in deep thought and was caught off guard with Reinji's sudden appearance in the throne room. He was in a slouching position during the time that she had come, which he knew was bad composure for someone of his caliber, yet he remained in the same relaxed position. He felt no need to be formal in front of someone he was familiar with, "Heh, it is their fate to succumb to death anyways. Though I wish you could have invited me to watch your victim squirm and cry."
strands of his hair moved to cover his face as he sat back up. He brushed them behind his ear before he leaned forward, now more alert and feeling appreciative for the distraction that Reinji's presence caused, "So what brings you here? Are you seeking a task to perform?"

Reinji stood up and smiled walking over to dusk as if infatuation was getting the better of her. She reached out slowly seeking the side of his face with her hand but did so in a very slow fashion if Dusk moved away her hand would reseed back down to her side.
"I am always seeking to please my lord who's vary name marks the end of the light and the coming of darkness. If you have a task for me state it and ill do my best to please you. I feel like stretching my legs as it is." Reinji spoke in a flirty voice with a sly smile.

An idea sparked within Dusk's mind as Reinji spoke. He allowed her to move her hand towards him, almost as if to say he were welcoming it, "Yes..though I was hoping that I could get one of those Dark Clan people below ground to do the task for me."
He stood up, moving his arm around Reinji's waste and pulling her closer to himself. His face came closer to hers, and he could smell the scent of blood drift from her face, which pleased him, "I do have an interesting task that I think you will be capable of performing without fail. Since you already have access to the prison, why don't you make use of a few of those prisoners and have them kill those golden trees. You can do whatever you please with those prisoners afterwards."

She rubbed her cheek against the side of dusks own cheek slowly. She then lowered her forehead to his shoulder and gripped onto the front of his shirt gently.
"Sire that task could prove difficult to perform. The prisoners speak amongst them selves they know that we can not venture to closely to the trees. Once they or with in the tree's purification field i would lose a large measure of control over there actions. I may need you to provide me with a little motivation to shed some light on the obvious problem. I could formulate a plan." As Reinji spoke her face tilted slowly until she was speaking against his neck.
She gripped tighter onto Dusks shirt as she stared at his neck filling her self with desire.

Dusk glanced to the side, intrigued that Reinji remained in hold of some self-control. He knew it must have been somewhat difficult for Reinji to be so close to his neck and prevent herself from trying to sink her fangs into it.
He smirked wickedly, "Try chaining them at their ankles. If they refuse to cut down the trees or try to escape, you could drag them back quickly by the chains and give them a few heavy lashings. Unless you can think of something more interesting."
