It was late in the afternoon when Teppy decided to go exploring. The sun was still shining brightly through the trees in the forest, spreading warmth through the sparse shadows. Usually she stuck to the edge of the forest bordering the clearing; she was too frightened to venture out into the open space while being afraid of the deep mysteries of the woods. But something had stirred the filly into action that day, and now she found herself amongst bramble and branches.
"Why didn't I think of this before?" she asked herself. Nothing was as scary as she thought. The little filly came to a large, rotting treestump. Curious, she stopped to sniff the earthly wood. Odd, spherical shaped lumps grew along it's length. They smelled good too, and Teppy contemplated taking a bite out of one of them.

With wings pullde in close to his ebony and gold splashed sides, the large stallion stepped carefully over roots and fallen trees, old trees that had taken one too many winter beatings. Stopping a moment, the stallion looked at the trees before walking on again. Sandy colored mane and tail blowing a bit as he moved, weaved through the branches that almost made perfect walls. He wondered what did call him to this strange place, far from home, he would find out soon enough he would think.
Stopping once more, ebony ears twitched and pivoted atop his head, he had heard... Something. Pure gold gaze looked around the shadows and trees. Something else was out there. Turning his head, he looked back toward the gold and white lion that accompanied him today. She needed to get out more often, rather then remain at home with her human.
"Dao, scout ahead. I don't think we are here alone." He advised to lion as she rolled her indigo eyes.
Having been pulled from the warmth of the human's teepee and shoved out into the bitter coldness, well to her anyways. Despite her fur coat, the cold always seem to bite where it needn't bite. Ears twitching, and nose sniffing at the air, the young lion had caught the scent of something around. With the advice from the stallion she pulled up close to him.
"You will be following Right?" she asked though only got a nod before setting at a quick trot through the bushes, the stallion behind her.

Just as she was about to take a bite of the strange white things, Teppy heard a soft sound. She swiveled her ears a little to point out where the sound was coming from. Whatever it was, it was behind her a ways.
"Who's there?" she called out quietly. Lots of things could harm an alone and small filly. She drew back behind the stump, hoping that the musky smell would disguise her own scent. Calling out had been a bad idea. What was she thinking?

Loping over a couple of bushes, her sleek coat shinning in the spots of light that managed to break through the foliage over head. Stopping a moment, her rounded ears twitching as she had heard... Something. A soft voice was it? could have been, A grin tugging at the corners of her maw, Dao looked back over her shoulder toward the stallion that followed.
"It does appear that we're not alone." She somewhat growled in amusement, this could be fun.
Having followed his feline counter part to this place, he looked around, not being very familiar with it. The place seemed kinda foreboding to him like there were other things besides him, Dao and this younger sounding voice. Raising his head up, he looked around slowly, though he caught a glimpse of white against an old tree stump, curiouser.
"So it would seem." He pondered, moving closer to where the young filly was hiding. "Stay here." He told the lion whom sighed heavily and shook her head lightly. "I mean it Dao." To this he still got an annoyed reply.
He watched the lion as she slumped onto the ground lazily before he stepped past the trees and toward the filly's hiding place. Stopping at the edge of the trees that surrounded the smallish clearing, if one wanted to call it that. He looked around, feathered wings ruffled at his sides before he cleared the trees letting the sun shine off his ebony and gold coat.
"Hello? I know you are here somewhere." Shihab grinned, knowing where the filly was hiding, though looked off into another direction.

Teppy felt a shiver creep down her spine at the lion's voice. Somebody was there! And that somebody knew she was there too! She flattened herself down in the grass and shrubbery while ignoring the uncomfortable stones against her robin-like belly. One of her hoofs slipped and knock against the stump, tearing away the dead bark with a subtle but noticeable crack. The filly winced, like she was in pain.
A pattern of gold amongst the green caught her eye. It was a stallion, and Teppy could see two feathered wings resting at his sides. A stallion with wings? She thought of her wingless father, the only stallion that she knew. The stranger appeared to be grinning, but for what reason she couldn't tell. Teppy took in a shallow breath and swallowed nervously, trying to keep her breathing quiet.

Shihab's grin seemed to vanish a little before he turned and stepped carefully over toward where the young filly was laying and lowered his head down to her level. Ebony ears turning forward as his pure golden gaze watched her closely. Sandy colored mane fell in waves at his side. he just watched in silence, curios as to what she would do, but raised his head back up, still looking down toward the filly.
"Well hello there little one." He spoke warmly, his dark and gold head tilting itself to one side a little. "Didn't mean to frighten you." He apologized closing his eyes for a moment before opening them once more.
Being the one that didn't lay silently in the shadows watching her bond mingle with those lesser then himself. The loin slunk away from where she was told to remain and sat atop the tree stomp looking down upon the young bag of flesh and bones. Her white and gold striped tail twitching behind her, wondering why her bond was speaking to it... True he had a soft spot for those of the baby age, being that he was a father of five and all have grown and moved on.
"this is what you made me remain behind for?" the lion protested gesturing with a paw toward the fill. "Shihab, please, it's not like I would hurt such a thing, after all I 'was' there when 'all' five of yours were born after all." She glared tiredly looking older them she was.
Shihab flinched inwardly as the lion came up beside him and looked toward the filly as well. He wished Dao had more manners then that. Surely she would scare the poor youngin' even if she didn't have any intent one harming it. Though he gave a stern look toward the Lion before swatting at her with a wing.
"The reason was, Dao, that the young one might not have seen a lion before." Shihab rolled his eyes looking back toward the filly, hoping she wouldn't run.

Though the stallions voice was kind Teppy was frozen to the spot. She let out a little whimper and drew her legs closer to her body. Nevertheless, she couldn't help but peer up at him with bright, cyan eyes. Perhaps he wasn't so scary. He did apologize, after all.
But then Dao spoke up. What a strange creature. A potentially dangerous one too, Teppy thought as she eyed her paws, no doubt concealing sharp claws in their velvet sheaths. At least the creature said she wouldn't hurt Teppy. "You're a lion...?" she whispered more to herself than Dao or Shihab. It was true; she had never seen a lion before.

Dao turned her head, ignoring her bond to look at the filly again as she seemed to shrink lower into the ground. Tilting her golden head to one side she let her claws nit into the wood of the stump that she sat upon. Rounded ears turning themselves forward as she thought she had heard the filly say something, sounded much like a question of some sort.
"What was that?" Dao asked as her tail twitched behind her and over the side of the stump some.
"Dao!" Shihab snapped slightly at the lion making her jump and her claws digging more into the bark.
Shihab glared at the lion as she unhooked her claws from the wood and silently slunk off a bit before leaping up onto his back and laying down between his wings. At least there he knew she couldn't make any trouble without him knowing before hand. He loved the lion, but sometimes she was frustrating. Shaking his head he looked back toward the filly, she seemed scared out of her wits, was he really that scary? Surely a skinwalker and Kalona would have been worse, he hadn't the pleasure of dealing with them personally, but that was all from his hearing of rumors.
"You can relax little one. No harm will come of you." He said trying to reassure the filly. "What's your name? Mine's Shihab." He bowed his head slightly. "Don't mind Dao, she's harmless for the most part. Her mew is worse then her bite."

Teppy had gotten to her feet and shivering, had prepared herself to run at the lion's question. But something had delayed her, and as she stood there Dao had lay down on Shihab's back after being scolded by him. Now that she was up, Teppy took a few tentative steps forward. "O-okay, I'm Temperance..." she said shyly, given her full name politely. She avoided looking directly at them, studying her front hoofs instead. "B-but everybody calls me Teppy." Talking to him didn't seem so scary anymore. Teppy's fear quickly turned into embarrassment. "I thought you two were monsters..."
