Movie: Bunraku (2009)
Gackt has this to say:
“People think that my take on the role of Kenshin Uesugi in Fuurin Kazan has actually set a new standard as to how the role should be portrayed and how the world should perceive such a historical figure. In this new project where I’m starring with Josh Hartnett, I am actually bringing bushido sensibilities to a futuristic world that doesn’t seem to have barriers of any kind.
When the director came to Japan and told me how impressed he was by my performance, I was touched and found myself willing to work with a passion on this project. While the Hollywood offers are coming in, I have to remind myself that I still have a lot of things to prove where my art and talent are concerned. In the meantime, I am expecting a great many things of myself and, with dignity and grace, will face the challenges willingly.”
