The sun had risen high into the sky, and though it was still spring Gaven felt as though it was summer. He was not use to this heat, he only felt it in the dead of summer at his home in the mountains. He trudged tiredly to the edge of a nearby stream after a long morning of rigorous play and crashed into the glassy surface. The water was cool and refreshing on his pelt. He waded into the stream until all that could be seen of him was his head. He gave a sigh of relief and began to relax.

"ACK!" Octavia shied back from the river's edge, mouth still dripping from the water she had been drinking. She had just been getting an innocent drink after a busy day of documenting how far bugs' guts could spread when squished, and all of a sudden, the water was creating odd shapes on the surface! It looked suspiciously like a horse's head.. "Hey, are you a river spirit?" Octavia asked, arching a brow curiously. That would be interesting, wouldn't it?

Gaven giggled a bit at the mare's response to him being in the river. "I'm no spirit, I'm just relaxing." Gaven said with a slight chuckle as he rose a little out of the river to reveal that he was just a normal soquili. "It's a hot day and the water feels great." He then realized that he had probably interrupted her, which wasn't something he had intended. "I'm sorry if I startled you, I didn't mean to."

"Really? Well, that's disappointing." Octavia sighed, light red eyes looking over the unfortunately normal Soquili. "I had hoped to discover something amazing, that would preferrably grant a few wishes for me." She pouted, moving back to drink again from the water, not really disturbed like some females might be that there was a body in it. She watched him, not really trying to hide it, and raised her head after a few moments. "Who are you, anyway?"

"Sorry to disappoint you," Gaven said quietly. "My name is Gaven." He walked up the side of the bank and out of the stream, not even bothering to shake the excess water from his coat. "If you don't mind me asking, what sort of wishes were you hoping to get granted?

She watched him, eyebrow arched at the dripping coat. She would have said something, but since it wasn't her that was going to be rather chilly in a few moments, she decided against it. " Octavia." She replied, mentally filing away the stallion's name. Gavin, eh? "What sort of wishes? Oh, I dunno. I hadn't thought that far yet." She shrugged, a small smile curling the corners of her mouth. "What would you wish for, given the opportunity?"

Gaven blushed at his thoughts. "Well, my wishes have basically already been granted." He turned and put his hooves back into the water, the feeling refreshing beyond words. "Cooler weather and someone to talk to is what I would have wished for. The water took care of the weather wish, even though the weather never changer. And you are talking to me, so that takes care of the second wish." Gaven explained sincerely.

"Your wishes aren't very far-fetched like some, eh? You must be a very down-to-earth guy." Octavia grinned, finding that rather amusing. She wasn't exactly a dreamy airhead herself, but still, she wasn't as bad as making wishes such as that. She would have wished for something like power, importance, minions... Something like that. "You're interesting. I like you." She said bluntly. She never had been one for beating around the bush. "You have family around here?"

"No family here, no family anywhere. Dont know or remember what happened to my parents, but I grew up alone for as long as I can remember." Gaven shrugged. This was the time that most people would start saying how sorry they were for that. It had never bothered him, but the reactions by others is what always made him uncomfortable. "You have to be down to earth to survive."

"I see." She paused, taking in the information he had just given. He was quite open about it, wasn't he? "Not many people are so open with their histories." She blinked, watching him with inquisitive eyes. "Do you down to earth Soquili not feel the need to be mysterious? Is your outlook more along the lines of just to have it all out in the open?

"It's a fact, why hide it?" Gaven said almost cheerily. He was relieved she hadn't offered any sympathy for his history; as far as he was concerned, he didn't need it. "I don't know about other 'down to earth' soquili," He said down to earth with a little more emphasis. He had never been called such before, and though he knew it to be more of a complement for someone like him than insult, he wasn't use to it. "But I know hiding things as simple as that usually causes more problems than it's worth."

Octavia had never been one for emotions, especially not those of sympathy or pity. She was more one for the facts, which he seemed more than happy to supply. Her eyebrows raised in slight surprise at his words, a smile flickering across her features. "Ah, how very logical of you." She replied, a hint of tease in her voice.

"Are you expecting a 'Down to earth' soquili to not be 'Logical'?" Gaven teased right back, flicking his tail and splashing Octavia with the excess water. With a smile he turned and slipped back into the water. He was in no way use to the weather here.

"Of course not. There's no way that a down to earth soquili such as yourself wasn't logical. It just... Wouldn't be logical." She grinned, squinting her eyes shut as water was flipped up on her via Gaven's tail. "Hey!" She exclaimed, unable to retaliate due to the rather dry nature of her tail. She was used to the warm weather, yet with a careless shrug followed him into the water.

Gaven gave a soft chuckle as he tried to splash Octavia again. "So what about you? What's your story?" Gaven asked before taking a drink from the water. He turned back to Octavia with a soft smile after his drink and sunk into the water, letting his buoyancy keep his head above it. "No need to tell dark secrets if you don't want to though." He added, not wanting her to be uncomfortable. He knew he was pretty open about his past, but assumed not everyone else was.
