Ok, so Im not sure what I want to do now. Im going to university for fine arts and education. But lately Ive been taking environmental science classes and Im really liking it. Now Im wondering if I should change my major from education to environmental sicence. But there is another option... I can also do environmental science and get a teacher certification to teach in high school for science/biology. So I have a few options... I can either do straight environmental science; environmental science and education; or stay with fine art and education. Any options? Im talking with my parents and Chris to decide what would be a good option. Any feedback is appreaciated 3nodding

I entered college as a speech and theatre education major. I am graduating in 15 days as a theatre major. I dropped the education part as I found it not worth my time or money. If I do decide to teach, which I'm not even sure of anymore, I'll go non-traditional.

I would tell you to choose the one that really makes you happy, that you can see yourself doing. Don't let your parents, or anyone else, pressure you into one thing or another. My mother wasn't happy about me deciding on being a technical theatre major, but I knew it was what I was suppose to do. But, she has come to realize that it is my life and I'm going to do with it what I want and that I'm actually good at what I've made my practice.

I've switched majors about 3 times...and I almost just went back to school again. Granted it was all somewhat related. Part of me is sad that I'm not going back to school, but for me to go and get my BA, internship and then when I'm ready to start working I'll want to have kids and how much will I be able to work then?

Just sit down with yourself and really thinking about it. Picture yourself in the future with each career. Which will make you happier? How much will changing majors affect future plans like kids, house and things like that. Talk with other people in the career you want, see their views on it. And you shouldn't let something like, "oh i'm going to make way more money" be a deciding factor. Also, give yourself a month or two thinking about this if you can...sometimes it's just the excitement of doing something cool and new that makes you want to change majors and next month you'll feel good again about your current major.

Good luck!

Get your degree in something you enjoy! Life is too short to spend it working in something you don't really like. I have three degrees and they are in a field I hate but I was trying to please my parents. The degrees sit in a drawer. I wouldn't work in that field for all the tea in China. I wasted years.

Thank you for all the feedback everyone heart Ive been really thinking about this. Im going to sit down later today with the course book and look over everything. I can get a teaching degree in environmental science. But Im not sure about teaching is what I want anymore. I would really like to get into working with the Bureo of Land Management or possiably Fish and Game. Im making an appointment to meet with my one professor and discuss my options and what I need to get done.
