It was my impression that we would be starting several generations after the end of the Oblivion War, with slight modifications to its ending, such as the Jedi not going into hiding and the Peace Accords.
The Peace Accords still hold sway, but it may be possible that one or several nations have recently begun secret programs designed to provide themselves with the means to quickly gain a decisive military edge over their enemies. This is possible without going against the Accord because it doesn't have to be a superweapon or something with interplanetary range. It could be some new form of powered armor or some new powerful energy source.
With regard to the Mirai, they never participated in the War, nor did Darth Viscious following the altercation above Yavin. Instead of going into hiding with Zeon, Viscious put himself in stasis and set the Angel-Vengeance to wander through normal space. This eventually led him, aboard the ship, to Mirai space in the Unknown Regions (it would be possible for Viscious's ship to travel that far that fast without using hyperspace because of its Discontinuum Drive).

That's about the gist of it. I'm thinking that the inciting incident will be Sith Stardestroyers being spotted in other territories looking for something they're calling "High Charity." They claim it has very high religious importance- a relic of a Sith Forerunner. While much of the Galaxy is not feeling up to confronting the "School Bully" as they trespass about, tensions between the Federation and the Sith are growing.

Internally, there are two major forces acting against the longstanding isolationist position of the Mirai. Foremost is the growing population. While not actually suffering from overpopulation, the Mirai are very much aware that they've run out of space and are now looking to expand. They would prefer not to have to fight anybody for the new space, though. The other force involved is actually Darth Viscious, who has managed to gain considerable influence in the Empire. He wants to expand the Unified Empire as an Empire. Despite wholly converting to the Mirai philosophies and joining their ranks, Viscious still bears a grudge against Oblivion, which he translates to the Sith nation. This grudge is as much for Oblivion trying to breed him as Sith as it is for failing to show Viscious that there are alternative lifestyles (sort of reacting against being sheltered, in a twisted sense).

I'm also wondering what the situation is with Darth Oblivion. I know we are removing God characters from the storyline, but keeping superhumans in some form or another (although I'm not exactly certain about the specifics of this).

I've given a lot of thought to this. This is really long. Sorry in advance. Darth Oblivion is still a Nosferatu. I'm keeping most of his past (statesman, prince, last of the original Nosferatu).
What I'm changing is that he never brought the Nosferatu back to existence. He feels that just using his own strain of the virus would limit the people. It's better then don't exist versus exist in a weaker state.
Oblivion timeline (no dates, yet)
Born a pure blood Nosferatu Crowned Prince of Erebus Senior Representative to the Republic Republic-Erebian War Survives because he was incarcerated on Coruscant Eventually escapes, discovers the genocide, wanders the galaxy Is taken in by Bane Sith Lord, Darth Nocturne Under Nocturne's tutelage, cultivates his magic and Force powers. Nocturne realizes that he's discovered the truly immortal Sith Lord, and lays the groundwork for Oblivion to create a New Sith Order. Nocturne develops a rare disease, which has no cure at the time. Oblivion places him in stasis, and uses his "Free time" to work on a cure.
four hundred years of wandering. Forgets his original name.
Finds Viscious, and takes him on as his apprentice. He knows that he will never be replaced, but he felt the need for company, more than anything. He trains Vicsious, raising him to hate the Republic. However, he never teaches him Force Harmonics, since he, himself was robbed of the final lessons.
30 years of planning
Oblivion War Battle of Yavin Crushes the Republic takes over most of the galaxy. However, in the final battle, most of his fleet is wiped out by a last ditch effort of the "Free Peoples Alliance" They cause the local stat to go nova. The Sith are so crippled, they have to withdraw to the Deep Core.
five years of Core sieges.
Eventually, no one has the strength to continue, and an armistace is called. Peace accords are signed on New Alderaan. Oblivion retains his title of Holy Emperor, but rules from obscurity, falling into a depression.
During the two hundred years in between, after a discussion with one of his honor guards about his family, Oblivion decided to make one of his own. He turns four children: Saïx, Akatsuki, Kira, and Rena. They become full Nosferatu of his House (which he renames Oblivion to cover up his lost memory).
He leaves the empire in their care, and travels the galaxy in his Sith Infiltrator. This search is for a true companion. In one of his travels, he comes across another Nosferatu Surviver, Jenova. They grow close, and he even considers leaving his empire to live on with her. However, they realize that they only bring themselves pain; the pain of remembering days on Erebus. They depart each other's company. Later on, Jenova would become the basis for the Federation's S-Project.
After a period of deeper depression, he continues his roaming, and finds himself on Korriban. There, he becomes very interested in the subject of Sith Alchemy. This subject launches him on a quest to find, and learn from as many Sith Holocrons as possible. Among the ones found were Bane, Sidious, Exar Kun, and Caedus.
As his knowledge of the Dark Side increases, so does his desire to return to his empire. After almost two hundred years of wandering and learning, he returns. Instead of being greeted with love from his children, they have turned his empire into a warring feudal combat zone. Fairly quickly, he reestablishes his control through his military genius, and ferocious power. The four children are punished severely. They are stripped of their powers for ten years- which, after living as a Nosferatu, would he a complete hell. This also lets them physically mature into their current appearances.
Still unimpressed with the companions he has chosen, he returns to research the mysterious disease that claimed his master. Through an oversight through his children, Nocturne's chamber was neglected, and he died. However, through Oblivion's knowledge of Sith Alchemy, he resurrects his master, and grants him immortality through regular dosages of "The Elixir of Life."
Ten years prior to the start of the RP, he reactivates his children's power, and, under Nocturne, starts to relearn Force Harmonics.
That should be it.

So how exactly do Nosferatu compare to humans and what is meant by "immortal"? I ask because I God characters arose from immortal or otherwise superhuman characters in the past, as I recall. (ooc: Probably best to answer this in the main discussion thread.)
And I will relate what I have so far of Viscious history with prologue:
**Prologue - Picocytes are a form of strange matter used by the Mirai. More specifically, the term is used to refer to any number of strange matter particles used in all aspects of Mirai technology. Therefore, not all Picocytes are the same and the term Picocytic is more common as a reference to any artificial matter developed and used by the Mirai.
Also, Thoth is still a part of the Guild, but not as The Living Force. He is a powerful entity known to the Mirai in legend who traditionally has only shown himself to the Lord Mirai. He is more or less a God, so far as the Mirai know, and is capable of wielding the Force and of greater feats that seem to have no connection to the Force. He is also believed to possibly be the one who first taught the Moriath Force Weaving. As a rule, Thoth takes no action amongst the mortals. This rule has been broken on few occasions (all but the most recent, the one involving Rhane, being the subject of some myth or legend). Traditionally, Thoth is seen as a Holy adviser to the Lord Mirai and appears in legend primarily as a sage or wise man rather than the subject of the legend.**
The Angel-Vengeance wanders into Mirai space, about 10 years before the roleplay(yes I'm just taking that from DA's timeline), and they dispatch a ship to investigate. The Mirai are unable to detect any lifeforms as Viscious is in deep stasis (it's been over two hundred years and at this point he is still human so advanced stasis is necessary for him to have survived without aging significantly). They do, however, detect the Force Presences of Dorian and the crew of synthdroid-like EXNAMAS that Dorian has created to maintain the ship.
Due to the military organization of the Mirai, Dorian takes them to be hostile and resists the Mirai boarding parties. However, the A-V is at minimal power so Dorian and the EXNAMAS are the only defense, ship defenses are inoperable. The result is the destruction of all droids, including Dorian, and the revival of Viscious.
Upon awakening, Rhane kills four Mirai Marines, two Moriath, and a Budoka (combat specialist/supersoldier, I'll explain the different groups soon in the Background subforum). Rhane would have continued to fight, but is personally stopped by Thoth, who also prevents the Mirai from retaliating. Thoth instead convinces both parties to ally.
Rhane undergoes an accelerated Budoka training program at the invitation of Thoth. Upon completion, he is accepted into the ranks of the Moriath. Rhane is intrigued by the process the Budoka use to artificially create Force Potency and from it develops a technique to replace all his organic tissue with picocytic constructs. This radically alters his appearance and he adopts the new name, Dimer Morcel.
Dimer's military skill and the favor of Thoth gain him enough position for Dimer to rise to power in the Empire. He does this by combining Stargate technology, which has been used for decades, with antiquated Beam-based Teleportation technology that was abandoned when the Stargate was invented. The combination reduces cargo transport costs in time and resources and provides Dimer with a substantial economic standing in the Unified Empire. He also develops new, Stargate-based, manufacturing methods.
Using his affluence, Dimer convinces the Lord Mirai to grant him the task of expanding the Empire and staving off the growing population problem. Dimer intends to use this opportunity both to further the Empire which has taken him in and to seek revenge on Oblivion or his descendants.

I think this is a question primarily directed at DL and DA, what exactly will be the situation with the Imperium of Man at the start of the Guild? Will they be as yet unheard of in the SW galaxy, still in search of the lost human colonies, or will they already have established a small stronghold in some isolated sector?

I am think a single planet in the unknown region of space would be a good starting point. A planet that people rarely hear from anyway so them no getting any communication is normal. That will be my base of operations and from their I will launch out to enlighten the rest of the galaxy.

DarthLoki 13 I am think a single planet in the unknown region of space would be a good starting point. A planet that people rarely hear from anyway so them no getting any communication is normal. That will be my base of operations and from their I will launch out to enlighten the rest of the galaxy. Sounds similar to the Black Fang's position, except the Fang's home planet was discovered 30 years prior to the story's main events. On a side note, I really need to get back to working on the Black Fang stuff...
