Nalani slowly wobbled through the woods, towards the ocean where she hoped the cooling waves of the sea could soothe her aching legs. The mare was getting heavier and heavier with each passing day. It was complete shock when she found out about her pregnancy. She felt like it was all a dream. This was what Nalani had wanted since she had became a mare, to find a great mate and build a family.
Although Gal was her daughter, she wasn't of her blood, but she loved her as though the mare had come out of her own womb. Suirien would be a great father to the foals they were going to have and Nalani couldn't wait to see them galloping together across the meadows.
It worried her a bit to tell him. She wasn't sure if he was actually feeling ready to become a father. Nalani hadn't seen the stallion for a few months since she had gone away with her two-legger to visit her family.

Suirien pushed his way through the edge of the forest, nearing the crashing waves of the ocean. Every day, for the last few months, he had 'accidentally' walked out of his territory, hopping to bump into his lovely mate, Nalani, since she had made herself so scarce.
Although he knew she was visiting with a two legger', he couldn't imagine why she was away for so long...And although he tried to distract himself, thoughts of Nalani in potential danger danced through his mind, frustrating the poor stallion terribly.
With a heavy heart, he dropped the bouquet of specially chosen flowers to the ground; every day, for the last little while, Suirien had carefully gathered up flowers in quiet determination to deliver them...but every day, He could never seem to find her.
Distant and quiet, the stars made their way up the sand dunes, lonelier then ever. The sharp blades of grass scratched against his legs, while the still-warm sand cushioned every step.
As he looked to watch the last of the sun seemingly dip bellow the ocean, splashing color reminents through the water, He noticed a figure bellow makng their way to the water.
He stared for a few minutes, his eyes screaming to blink, yet all cries fell on deff ears. He waited to see the silhout more clearly, he waited to see a faint wing-beat or her lovelly unicorn horn...anything that would distinguish this shadowed figure from any other horse.
A stretch of her wings was slightly illuminated by the last of the fading light, making her blue-butterfly wings glow for a second; it was all he needed to confirm.
"..Nalani..." He whispered to the winds, now paralyzed by the one thing he loved and wanted so dearly. A sickly pain splurged through his chest, catching him offguard for a momment, followed by numb legs.
Slowly, he made his way towards her mare, hopping for the best yet still expecting the worse. Nalani was a lovelly mare, perfect beyond any standard, able to have any stallion she wanted...
Perhaps she had decided, he wasn't for her. Time could never ravage his love for her, since Time stood still whenever she wasn't around, but perhaps...her feelings changed.

The mare cooed as the refreshing water washed over her legs as she moved forward into the sea. All the burning sensation on them vanished and her body became lighter as she began to swim deeper, but not too far from the shore. Nalani felt the foals squirm around inside her, their movements made her giggle and it made her wonder if they enjoyed this as much as she did. After a few minutes of bathing in the ocean, Nalani wobbled back onto the sandy shore and carefully lowered herself to the ground to rest. Her large belly made it a bit uncomfortable to relax completely.
A soft lonely sigh escaped her as her mind wandered off to her mate. She missed him so much and it drove her crazy to think that the stallion would be upset if he found her this way. Nalani prayed to the heavens that Suirien would accept her pregnancy and the foals that would be on their way soon.

Whatever must have kept her away, must be terribly important, he silently decided, making his way down the final dune. He paused to watch, even though he was still a little distance away...Something was different.
She nosed her belly every so often.. She couldn't quite make herself comfortable either; the scattered sand told the story.
Was she...In pain?
His legs sprung awake, smashing against the sand and stray shells bellow.
"Nalani!" He snorted, eyes bright as he couldn't help his little smile.
It didn't matter what happened..where she had gone..or what he had gone through; Everything but he and his mate seemed to melt away as he ran to greet her.
"Nalani.." He grinned, only steps away now, slowly closing the gap. His quaint smile quickly disappeared as he noticed her rounded belly.
"Na..Nalani?" He stuttered. Shocked, He lowered his head to inspect once more, then looked to her for clarification, since he DARE not assume she was with foals.

It was amazing how the mare didn't break her neck with such quick movement. The smooth, rich sound of Suirien made Nalani jerk her neck around to face him. She was filled with such joy at the sight of him that her pregnancy was forgotten as she jumped up to greet him. Her smile slowly faded as she saw her mate eyeing her rounded belly.
"Suirien...I've missed you so much." Nalani blushed slightly, a bit embarrassed at her state of being, and she lowered her head. "There's...there's something I have to speak with you about, love." The butterfly-like mare used her tail to gently wipe off the sand off of her belly. "I'm....pregnant."

Love... The sound of her speaking such affectionate words was enough to make his heart melt...Though when she mentioned she had something to discuss, his attention immediately returned to her.
He stared in her eyes for a moment, trying desperately not to get lost.
He watched her tail, somewhat in a hyptonic fashion.
"Pregnant?!" He snorted, although he already knew... It was just the shock that kept him from making the 'link'.
"Oh Nalani... thats wonderful news!" He cheered, Almost bucking with excitement! "I knew there was something different...-" He wondered what it must be like, to have your body go through so many changes without any ability to control it, and understood her slight embarrassments, though wanted to reassure her, "You have that motherly glow.. Its unmistakable.. "
As she lowered her head, he playfully nipped a bit of her wavy wet mane and tugged her upwards, "Nalani.. you'll make a wonderful mother...And I'll be here every step of the way..If you let me" He assumed the foals were his, though her mysterious disappearing act tugged at his mind, though she never told him otherwise.
He looked down, nosing his muzzle softly against her belly, hoping the foals could feel him. He wanted them to know he was there, as much as he wanted Nalani to know.
His life had gone from feeling empty, from being nothing but a hallow heart, to having his wildest dreams come true within seconds.
A momment of silence passed as he lowered his face to hers and pressed it tenderly, their mythical horns slightly resting on each other as he whispered, "I love you.."

All the nervousness and fear left her in a flash at his words. Her eyes were bright with so much happiness. Suirien did not reject after finding out the news of their foals to be. Nalani nuzzled her mate, "Oh I love you with all my heart and soul, Suirien. You have made me the happiest mare in the world." She chuckled softly, "I was actually afraid that you would be unhappy about all this. Love, I know you will be the most amazing father to them."

Suirien was afraid of the future, Afraid of the hurdles to come... Of their foals future...He wanted to be the best father possible...though didnt want to smother them. It would be hard to keep such an impossible balance between the two, But with Nalani by his side, he felt as though he could conquer the world.
He laughed softly, standing there in the moonlight with his mate.as the turbulent waves crashed around them.
An unusually warm wind swirled around them, sending their manes dancing in a tangle.
And all the while, he dared not break eye contact with her. He stared into her glowing blue orbs, watching their love dance within them.
"I Don't think the stars have ever shown this bright..." He said softly, noticing the sparkling reflections in her eyes.
He looked up above and was greeted with thousands of brilliantly sparkling stars and constellations, and saw a shooting start jet by.
"Make a wish!" The usually calm stallion said in an excited tone.

Nalani was so hypnotized by the handsome features of her mate that his excited voice greatly startled her. She quickly looked up to see what all the fuss was about and saw the rocketing star fly across the night sky. In her heart and mind she wished and prayed that her future with Suirien and their foals would be glorious. The mare giggled and began to prance around her mate in utter happiness. She playfully nipped at his side, "Come with me, love. Let us celebrate the coming birth of our children." Nalani made her way across the sandy shore in a lively trot.

He couldn't help but wonder what she had wished for. He looked up at the night sky; it always made him feel so small...There was just so much..Out there.
He glanced over at his excited mate, whom he noted was also contagious; within seconds Suirien found himself splashing at the edge of the sea, whinnying while bucking and kicking...What a sight!
He then quickly ran over to his mare to see how exactly she celebrated, catching up and nipping at her tail as his strong laughter echoed with the sand-dune crickets.

Nalani watched her mate jump about happily and it made her laugh. She wished she could do the same but her pregnancy kept her from doing so. The mare whinnied into the night, calling forth her butterfly friends who danced around the couple with delight. Soon they would have foals to play with just as they had played with the mare in her youth.
The night was so beautiful, the moon light beaming down upon them as if giving them a great blessing. Nalani was about to jump into the waves when suddenly a painful cramping hit her. She came to a complete stop on the shore, waiting for it to start again, but nothing happened.
