In the last few months, my hair has grown really long. My hair is now a little bit longer than this http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h185/alchemiotaku/DSCN0779.jpg
The next character I'm cosplaying as is this http://images.quizilla.com/S/SA/SAK/sakurakirachan/1193512015_ave-master.jpg
I want the hair to match the costume, but there's a few problems. First off, I can't cut it. I've been trying to convince my parents for eight years to let my grow my hair out long, and if I cut it now, I'll be forced to keep it short for the next few years. I won't put on a wig either.
A lot of you are more experienced than me in cosplay...how should I go about putting my hair up to make it seem shorter than it really is?

You... can't. There's absolutely no way. I have waist-length hair, and while that opens up options for me, it also creates problems with wigs. Your hair is short enough that a wig like Elie's wouldn't be too much of a problem. Go with a wig. They're not that annoying, and as long as you're not in Florida, heat and stickiness from sweat and hairspray (Ugh, my friend's Kakashi wig after one of our afternoon rainstorms...) isn't going to be that bad. Wigs can suck, if you're wearing a short one (like my Vash wig) but I don't think a longer wig would be as much of a problem.

You would probably be better off useing a wig... That's a fact that's not going to change... For the type of hair your character has It would be very difficult (if not impossible) for you to make your hair look shorter without looking like you tied it up.
If you really dont' want to cut it (I don't think you should chop it all off) and don't want to wear a wig just get it trimmed at the ends so it's rounded off like her hair, maybe get some bangs and don't sweat it! I highly doubt you're going to be mobbed by cosplayers for having an inacurate length of hair. sweatdrop OKAY! Maybe a few mega fans... but that's all. There are people who do characters less justice than having slightly longer hair (Man Fey and Sailor Buba). If anyone hastles you jsut say, "I couldn't cut my hair or I'd have to keep it extra short for ages... If you don't like it then buy me a quality wig!" And that should shut them up! blaugh

Haha. Thanks. At one point, they were underwater and she had her hair in the same style as my avi. I was thinking about just putting my hair in a pony and then using a clip to make it look similar....the wig's outta the question because of the whole money issue.
