The wolf tore at the ground as he followed the scent. He had been trailing it for a couple hours now and he could tell it wouldn't be much longer. The scent was growing stronger. His green eyes glowed eerily into the night and his muzzle quivered with the growing need to tear at flesh.

Too long had he been in hell. Too long had he gone without giving in to the basic need to kill. He followed the first scent that came to his nostrils since he had stepped out of that Demon Tree. All he wanted was to tear flesh from bone and to savor the taste of a new kill. The more he thought about it, the more rage he felt. It would not be a good day for the creature behind this scent. Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, he thought to himself while obvious insanity danced within his eyes. It would not be a good day at all.

Several minutes had passed and he found himself running at full speed. Once he came over the hill, he saw the owner of the scent. It was a dark mare and she seemed completely unaware of his presence and the danger she would soon be in. Even from the distance, she was beautiful but perhaps because she would be his first victim in this land.

His claws tore at the earth as he ran and before the mare even had a chance to turn, he leaped at her neck and clenched tightly with his canine jaws.

The mare stood still for a fraction of the moment. The attack was so spontaneous and unexpected that she was in complete shock at first. Then her instinct kicked in and the mare buckled back and forth in an attempt to get the animal off her. She could feel the teeth tightening in her neck more with every struggle she made. Just when she felt like all hope was lost, she was able to swing the animal off her and he went rolling onto the ground. Her wound was deep and she felt dizzy.

She struggled to regain her balance and turned her head to look for the dark creature that had attacked her but he was already gone. No sooner did she realize it did she feel another bite into her back side and feel the claws tearing at her side. Again she struggled to fight the best she could but it was impossible to kick the creature off at that angle and she was too weak to shake him.

Oh he loved it when they fought back. Her blood was delicious and the more he had a taste of it, the more he wanted it. He was surprised that the wound at her neck hadn't killed her instantly but he could tell that it was affecting her ability to think and react well. He could feel her muscles relaxing as if they are already giving up the fight. It was an awesome feeling. He loved how powerful it made him feel. He loved being in control of the lives of others. He loved watching the life fade from their bodies.

She was indeed a beautiful mare. What a wonderful welcome gift she was. He couldn't have asked for a better first meal. Within moments, she had collapsed upon the ground and her breathing was becoming weaker. He let go of her rump and padded around her body, making sure she could see him. Her eyes had trouble staying open and thanks to the wound at her neck, she was unable to speak but he knew that he had her complete attention.

In one swift move, he willed his body to change from the form of a wolf to his true form, that of a Skinwalker.

"You are so beautiful," he sneered as he lowered his head to lick her face. "I find nothing more beautiful than a mare clinging to her last moments of life. It's a pity you cannot talk as I would have enjoyed your begging. Be aware that I will at least enjoy eating you. Hell, I may start before you're even dead. I find myself curious what you are thinking in your final moments though. Are you thinking how pitiful you are in this very moment?" The scent of her blood was so appealing. He found it hard to torment her in his usual, sadistic ritual.

What the Skinwalker did not know was that Jailbait was thinking of her children. She was pleased with how Rascal, Inmate and Xian had come out. Her sons and daughter were so beautiful and she was thankful to have them in her life and her experiences with them. She was also thankful that they were fully grown and able to take care of themselves. She wouldn't have been able to protect them if this had happened with them nearby. She didn't understand why this was happening but she knew that it was just a part of life. That her journey had finally come to an end. She might die at the hands of this creature but she was sure that her spirit would live on, ever watching her children and waiting until they could be reunited once more. She would not beg for life, even if she could speak. She would not give the monster the true satisfaction he was looking for.

Her body didn't even hurt anymore. It was as if she had gone numb. She was staring at the creature before her but yet, staring through him. As the light finally faded from her eyes, she smiled as memories of her children played out in her head. In that moment, she was gone.

He did not like that smile. It infuriated him. How dare she smile at him and then die on him. It was too soon. This was not the way it was supposed to be. Angrily, he tore at her face with his paws. He did not stop until even he was unable to recognize the mare that had been under that mess. How dare the b***h smile at him.

The stallion was pissed. He was absolutely pissed. He circled the mare several times before he let loose on his rage and tore at her body with his claws and teeth. He wanted to leave no part of her behind. No part of her recognizable to another. He wanted to set an example, letting others know what would happen if another dare smile at him in their moment of death. It ruins the entire thing!

He did not stop until his body was physically tired. Only then did he lower his head and begin to eat from what was left of the carcass. The more he fed, the better he felt.

It hadn't been a complete waste.

Meera could not move. What she had just witnessed from under a crop of trees was so terrifying. Never had she.. never could she...

It brought back memories of her own attack, only this one was much worse. It was fast. So fast that there was no way that anyone could have helped that mare. The creature was pure evil, he did not even stop. The mare had been given no chance to survive. She knew what the creature was. She recognized it the moment he had changed from a wolf into a soquili. She had heard those kind of beasts whispered along with that of her father's name. But this creature.. he was worse than she was sure her father ever could be. Her father hurt her, toyed with her surely, but this one.. he simply wanted to kill.

She did not know the mare. She wish she had, at least then she could contact the family or do something. She felt horrible that she could do nothing but watch. Never has she felt more lost or afraid. She wanted to turn away from the creature, she didn't want to watch him eating that poor mare, but he was so fast! She was afraid if she did, it would be her own neck clamped between his fangs. She could do nothing but watch until she knew it was safe to leave the woods. She needed open land to take flight and she knew that would be the only course of action to guarantee her safety. If he could just wander off for a bit.. increase the distance between them. Please go away, she silently pleaded.

The amount of blood that was causing that scent made Reaper too curious to resist. He scanned the ground from the air above, looking for what was behind it. It didn't take long for him to spot the cause and the sight below him was even shocking to himself. He could only guess that the body was once a soquili though it was hard to tell what kind or what gender. Hell, the only thing that even gave it away was the size of it. Though he was a good distance away, he could still see what a horrible mess it was.

The stallion near the body didn't seem to take notice of him. In fact, he still seemed to be eating parts of the kill that was in bits and pieces. His intuition told him that this was not something he wanted to get involved in so he turned to leave. Truth be told, he would have expected the same to be done to him if he had been the one on the ground with the kill.

Wyrm was unable to smell the two soquili nearby because of the blood of the mare. He was however, aware of the one that was flying above. He paid little attention to it and would unless it happened to land. The ones with wings always had an advantage that he did not. They weren't worth messing with unless they were close enough so that he could damage their wings.

He found himself wondering what other creatures might be attracted by the blood. Perhaps another Skinwalker would chance to get close. He'd love to rip them to shreds too. From what he had heard, most were a joke in these lands anyway and the ones that weren't.. well, he hated them too, to be honest. Everything deserved to die at his feet, there were no exceptions.

Meera had to try something. As the minutes dragged on, her body began to stiffen up. She wanted to move and she knew that she would not be able to stand still for much longer. The creature didn't seem to know she was around and he still had his back to her. He was too interested in the mare he had killed. If she could step out quietly enough, she could take off at a run and be in the air before he had a chance to spot her.

The first few steps she took were quiet enough. She tried to avoid anything that might make a sound but it was hard and eventually she found herself in quite a predicament. She wouldn't be able to take another step without stepping on leaves or sticks as the ground was covered with it. She could try to take a jump and clear it but even that would make a bit of noise when she landed.

Of course.. she could keep running once she landed. When she had made up her mind, she took a deep breath, stepped back and leaped over the batch of leaves and twigs. Then she kept running as fast as her little legs could carry her. The clearing was less than five feet away and she could make it as long as she had enough room and speed to take flight.

It was in moments like these that he cherished his heightened senses. He heard the hooves hit earth before the mare even managed to make it out of the woods. Reflexively, he took on the form of a wolf once more and leaped back in the air, twisting his body around so he could run after her. She had just left the woods so if he aimed it right, she should be easy pickings.

A twisted grin came over his face as she started to take flight. She was merely inches off the ground when here leaped into the air and clamped his jaws around one of her wings. He wasn't sure if it was the bite or his added weight that did the trick, but her body came crashing back down into the ground. The blow knocked him to the ground as well but he was much smaller and more agile than her and was quickly back on his feet.

Something beckoned the large pale stallion to turn. It was a strange call and when he saw what was taking place a short distance away, he knew that it couldn't have been coincidence. Something told him. Something wanted him to see.

Even at the distance, he knew exactly who the mare was. There was no mistaking it as he had her memory still etched into his mind from their last encounter. One in which he had similar intentions as the Skinwalker below. But now things were different. The Skinwalker was encroaching on his territory and one simply did not ******** with what was his. Without further thought, he turned his body and flew towards the upcoming fight below.

"I had no idea that when I came here, two lovely morsels would practically jump into my mouth," the wolf teased as saliva began dripping from his mouth. Though his appetite for food had been appeased, his thirst for the kill never ceased. "Cheer up. I'm only going to make it as painful for you as possible."

She wanted to stand up but she couldn't. Her front right leg was hurt in the fall and when she even put the least bit of weight on it, she was overcome with immense pain. Was she to suffer the same fate as the mare before her had?

Wyrm had no idea what danger he was in. Even with his heightened senses, he was still enveloped with the scent of blood all around him and his attention was on the female and no other.

So when he found himself wincing as a sharp kick came at his back and he was rolling forward on the ground, it took him a moment to realize he had been attacked. He pushed himself up on all four paws and turned to face the creature that had dared to attack him.

It was no ordinary horse, that was for sure. The creature was covered in sharp spikes and Wyrm knew it would present a big problem. He would have to stay in wolf form. He was more agile and smaller so it would be eaiser to dodge the spikes and attack him where he was unprotected. The idea of going up against this stallion excited him. Perhaps this would actually prove challenging.
