Was it only my family and I, or did anyone else notice that she said absolutely nothing about what she would do during her whole campaign? We heard her say multiple times "For the future..." and such, but what would she do for the future? We left with more questions then we got answers.

It's just another sign of a falling political world, to make contentless politics with phrases grabbing for the majority of people. "Lower taxes for middle class manufacturers" would only aim for the middle class manufacturers, so a "For a better future for everyone!" works better on the masses, because everyone feels contacted by this message, and they do not promise anything.

Dismantling a bad politician and a bad image campaign is easy, just vote for another one who promises more things to you personal, than to a major mass.

you also have to consider the fact that they are promises and can be countered, if elected, that promises are always easy to keep. after all look at gov genifer granholm, she actualy said she would not cut schools funding during her governer race. and after she got elected in the midle of the school year she announced she was cutting SOME schools funding.
and you also have to consider that ALL polititions lie, its just a matter of finding who lies the least and what their are trying to tie you into

The two party system you have in the USA is anachronistic, anyways. There is either Republican or Democrats. It's not about to choose the right party and build up a working government, it appears to me that the american elections are just a voting about which candidate is clothed better. I wouldn't say politicians are all liars, in my country there are several politicians, who have good ideas, but due to the politicial environment they'll have to make compromises.

I did not deny the fact of lying politicians. Unfortunately, there are politicians who lie and thousands lose their life.

It's all a matter if you believe it or not. I myself go to elections, just to verify that I am still allowed to disagree with politics.

I simply try to step behind what those politicians say and calculate the effects of decisions. I live in Germany, it seems so much easier to find the right party since we have ~10 big ones and more than 1000 smaller parties. But that makes it also complicated, to find the carrier of your voice. Most of the smaller parties are somewhat like funclubs, having no serious frame they move in.

There are still guidelines in the bigger parties, keeping the heads in line and follow the original political idea, therefore "disordering" members of a party get banned in a short time.

Sure, several head politicians in Germany are also lobbyists, and I don' want them, so I use my choices and vote for another one.

There is a big difference between european and american politics, so I can only admit general things about it. I only worry about the fact, that the european politics become more and more american, politicians here also try to pull the votes on their side with generic phrases like "For the Future".

It's better to go and give an invalid vote, than simply sit around and shut up. That makes your vote not counted to the wrong one and you are still allowed to argue about politics in my eyes. (I know a lot people who always try to argue with me but do not go to elections, that's a political crime in my eyes)
