If asked, Rashidi himself couldn’t really explain why he had started traveling around with Rana. If asked, he would have given his boredom as an excuse and left it at that, but he knew from personal experience that things were rarely that simple. There was always a bigger picture to explore. For once, he was content to leave this proverbial picture alone. The odd-eyed lion yawned and stretched on the sun-covered rock, eagerly soaking up what rays were there. For the moment, Rana was off doing… well, doing whatever she did when Rashi wasn’t looking, which left Rashidi alone to enjoy his privacy. Good of her to do that, considering how much the lion liked his privacy. But, more and more often these days, he found himself actually enjoying Rana’s company…
He snorted and tossed his mane slightly before licking the thick fur down to soothe himself. The sooner they got to the ocean, the better. Otherwise, he might find himself getting just a bit too attached to Rana and that sort of thing never ended well. Sure, she was a good-looking lioness, but she didn’t deserve him. Besides, he was happy on his own, without cubs or a mate to slow him down. Shoving all thoughts of other lions and cubs and company from his mind, the musty-green lion rolled over on his back to try and soak up the sun’s rays.
At least there were plenty of those for now and the rock provided the perfect perch to enjoy them. All around, all he could see were fields of golden grass waving lightly in the soft breezes. In the distance, there were a few hazy shapes that might have been elephants or possibly wildebeest. Not a sign of another soul…

Panya happened to be traveling through that area. She wasn't even paying attention to where she was going. She was letting her paws take her wherever they wanted to walk to. She wasn't even paying attention to what was around her. Her current goal was to find a particular lion. He had a pride he was started and she wanted to see if she could join it. Though she may seem weak, she was still useful when it came to protecting young cubs. That was her calling and she wanted to answer it as quickly as she could. Despite her searching she couldn't find Trigger anywhere. Where could he be? Near the edge of the Pridelands or perhaps near another Pride's borders?
It took her a while to catch the scent of another lion. Instantly she stopped in her tracks. Was it Trigger? She sniffed the air gingerly and noticed that it wasn’t Trigger but another male’s scent. Curious of this new lion, she slowly started to wander in the direction of the unknown lion. Could he know where Trigger was? If so, was the new male willing to let her know where he was hiding?
Stopping about a mile away from the unknown male, she glanced around until she spotted him. He stood out like a sore thumb, but she didn’t care about his coloring, even though it was rather odd. Whoever heard of a green lion? She didn’t but there were even odder lions out there. Carefully, she et out an introduction roar and started to approach him slowly, not sure if he had caught her scent or if she was downwind of the male.

At the sound of a roar nearby, Rashidi’s ears went straight back. Oh, joy. More company. If he had any more company, he may very well combust with pure joy. Languidly, he lifted his head and looked over at the red lioness. Huh. Why hadn’t he seen her before? That red surely didn’t blend in very well with gold, not any more than his green at least. His initial idea was to simply ignore her until she went away. That generally got rid of others pretty quickly. But, alas, he had already responded to her roar by looking up. If he ignored her now, she would probably just rant at him, which would rob him of his naptime. Best at least talk to her, since that would get rid of her more quickly.
“How clever. A roar. Tell me, did it take you long to learn how to do that and walk at the same time?” he asked peevishly, clearly annoyed at his naptime being ruined. Actually, aggravation was, more or less, Rashidi’s ground state of being. If he didn’t have anyone to abuse, he’d probably abuse himself. Either that, or grass. Whichever one was more responsive. “Do you have an actual reason for interrupting my nap or were you just bored?” Perhaps lost, he figured. For the past day or so, he hadn’t seen any other creature besides himself and Rana.
Great. Just what he needed. A lost lioness who needed directions.

[sorry about the delay. X.X]
She ignored the gaze the other lion was looking at her with and continued to walk towards the larger male, unaware of what might happen in a few moments. She was just happy that she could at least strike up a small conversation with him before she went on her search for Trigger, and his pride, again. She was also unaware that the lion was napping on the rock.
When she heard the lion's rather rude comments she stopped in her tracks and pinned one ear back against her skull. She didn't know that Rashidi was napping, but a tiny voice in the back of her head told her that she didn't really care. Shaking off that thought, she flicked her tail against the grass that was brushing against her ankles. "Actually it comes naturally, unlike some lions," she said dryly to him, totally unlike Panya. "I was thinking of attempting to have an intelligent conversation with someone of my own species, but it seems like that isn't going to happen." She continued to stand where she was, gazing at the lion with a curious gaze on her face. What else did he have up his sleeves?

“No, indeed, it is probably not going to happen. To have an intelligent conversation, one must be able to contribute to the discourse,” Rashi sniped right back, inwardly pleased at the lioness’s snappy response. Traveling with Rana, while very soothing in some ways, was boring as far as the insults went. Stretching out luxuriously, Rashidi took his time with carefully stretching out every last muscle, just to prove that he wasn’t in any rush. He would deign to speak with this lioness, but he would never put a conversation before his own personal pleasure. At least, that was what he was trying to convey through his body movements. Showing off? Pfft… of course not! He simply wasn’t the sort to ‘show off’ for anyone, male or female.
Once he was finished, he looked down from his lofty perch, idly curious about just what sort of conversation this female wanted. “You’ve come a long way just for intelligent conversation. Although I suppose it’s been getting harder and harder to find since I’ve been wandering further and further away.” Still… not many came out here, especially not those just looking for ‘conversation. Aside from Rana and himself, Rashidi hadn’t seen any other lions. Clearly, this lioness was looking for something besides conversation. Or perhaps she was running away from something.
