A corpse was sprawled out under the tiny speck of shade. But this corpse was not rotting...at least...yet. Loud gasping could be heard as a dusty colored lion basked with his face shielded by the tiny shadow from the tree. The rest of his body reflected the sun's harsh rays, making him pant like a dog. It seemed as if nighttime wasn't coming quickly enough. His eyes, the color of the sun, squinted off into the distance. Hoping a river would magically appear in front of his eyes. How the hell did I get caught out here.
The poor lion felt utterly stupid for wandering around the night before, and not realizing where he was at before he collapsed under this very same tree. Of course, the smart lions always were aware of their surroundings and knew to stop where there would be plenty of food and water.
What a terrible day...

 What....is that? Dubwana'dubu blinked and lifted his head slightly. He could hear...well he wasn't sure what it was, but it was loud and sounded very odd. Do I really need to know? The black and white lion thought for a moment and then sighed, yes he really did need to find out what that sound was. Curse him for being so damn curious
With a groan he slowly shimmied out from the dead brush he had been using as his temporary home. Once he was up on all four paws he stretched languidly, his front paws reaching out and his claws dug into the dry ground. His stretching ritual completed he took off at a comfortable walk following the loud sound.
After a couple minutes he spied a dead tree and heard the sound getting louder. As he got closer to the tree he squinted, his gold eyes glimmering in the harsh sun. Ah, yes there was something under that tree. And whatever's under that tree is probably making that sound.
Bwana stopped walking as his body blocked out the sun and threw his shadow over the other lion's body. Now that he was close enough he could tell that it was the lion panting that made the sound he heard. "Hey...you're not dying are you?" Oh yes, Bwana was smooth. Reaching out with a black paw he nudged the body of the lion attempting to rouse him.

The sun was slowly sinking towards the horizon...slowly. The sun was still high over the savanna. Scorching everything it's sight. It had no remorse, so it continued to cook the young male under the dead tree. No remorse at all.
"Hey...you're not dying are you?"
Where was that voice coming from? The dust colored lion hadn't even realized that another lion had approached him. His drowsy eyes squinted up at the other male standing over him. It was nice the way he blocked the sun for him. Then the other nudged him in the ribs.
"Wha?" Gouta grumbled. "Dying, yes. Me, no."
Not even Gouta was sure of what he said. It probably didn't make any sense. In fact, he felt like he was dying. But he certainly was as chipper and healthy as a cub. Except, this heat was debilitating him. Panting, still, he managed to round up a smile on his face.
"You wouldn't happen to know of a water hole 'round here, do ya?"

Bwana was just about to go and nudge him again but then the sandy lion spoke, well more like grunted but it was close enough for him. The black and white rogue blinked at the other lion's words, That....didn't make sense "Are you sure about that, buddy?" He leaned down and sniffed the other male, scenting for any disease or infected wounds. He didn't know much about healing, he actually didn't know anything at all about it, but what he did know was that sickness and untreated wounds could kill a lion. His mother taught him so well. After a moment he lifted his head, nope there was no smell of disease or infection. He scrunched up his nose not being able to figure out what was wrong with the other lion. Bwana wasn't exactly the brightest crayon in the box.
His Sherlock Holme's gig was cut short by the sandy lion's question. The rogue blinked and then looked around trying to figure out exactly where they were. It took him a moment but once he had oriented himself he nodded. "There's a water hole not too far from here, but....Can you even walk?" He wasn't sure if the other male would be able to make it to the watering hole, he looked pretty exhausted. His tail curled and flicked out behind him as he thought, and he thought, and he thought some more. Suddenly an idea dawned on him. "I know how to get you there." Bwana was always one to think more with his brawn than his brain and it showed as he crouched down next to the other male. With some difficulty Bwana managed to work himself underneath the other male and then push himself up on his paws, the sandy male on his back. "Ouf, I wouldn't suggest moving." While Bwana was built bigger and slightly stronger than most other rogues he was still having a bit of difficulty not collapsing under the other male's weight.
Glancing downwards between his front legs he realized that the dehydrated lion's back side was hanging off his back. Ah With a couple shakes of his bootie he manged to get the other lion's legs on either side of his back. That of course made the load more balanced and easier to handle. "And we're off." He headed off in the direction of the watering hole, moving as fast as he could while not dropping the sandy lion and not bringing on heatstroke. "So, how'd you end up half dead out here?"
((And yes, I totally stole the scene from TLK2 where Kouvu saves Kiara from the fire >_> xD))

Gouta's eyes blinked slowly, as he heard the other male talk. Now the other male asked him a lot of questions, but the poor sandy lion had all his brainpower soaked up by the sun. Before he could even respond, saying that he could try to walk, this guy thrusted him on his back and didn't seem to even think twice about it.
Gouta was pretty slender for a male lion, in fact, you could count his rib bones. It wasn't really that this lion was starving, he just couldn't hunt worth s**t. He mostly scavenged with hyenas, and even resorted to eating bugs. So the weight that was put on the male lion below him wasn't very much at all.
Now the sandy lion wasn't too sure about this guy's plan. He almost felt like he was the girl in this newly formed relationship. Pretty embarrassing to have to have a lion to carry you. Might as well just shave his mane off. However, the lion didn't complain. He needed water, he could feel the world was turning white. He didn't want to pass out, christ, this was embarrassing enough already.
"Um. Well."
Well, he had just fallen asleep under the tree, pretty boring, eh? The sandy lion didn't like boring stories, so he decided to tell a little white lie.
"A herd of elephants were chasing me last night so I climbed up in that tree to hide."

Once Bwana had gotten the male lion settled on his back he realized that he really wasn't all that heavy. Actually, after taking a couple steps he was able to feel the sandy lions ribs digging into his back. It didn't feel all that pleasant but instead of saying anything he just grunted and kept on walking. The black and white rogue didn't like to admit when anything bothered him, because well, he was big and strong.
It didn't occur to Bwana that he might be emasculating the other male, he just figured he needed water and probably wasn't going to be able to walk that far since he had....been chased by elephants? The rogue blinked and stopped glancing back at him, putting them much maw to maw. "So....you fell out of the tree?" As he talked his long whiskers waved through the air and he was able to feel the other male's breathing separately from the very light breeze that was around them.
After a short moment he began walking again, while the other lion wasn't heavy it was still took some effort to carry him around. He also figured that the other lion needed to get to water sooner rather than later. Luckily for him it didn't take that much longer to reach the watering hole.
Walking to the edge of the medium sized pond Bwana careful crouched and then laid down, rolling on his side so that the sandy lion would slide off his back. "And we're here." He smiled and then dipped his head to the waters edge, carrying another lion to the watering hole in the scorching heat made him pretty thirsty himself. After he drank his fill the rogue sat down, ignoring the water droplets that were dripping from his whiskers and maw.

The sandy male rested his head on the other's black mane. Everything seemed so surreal at the moment. It was pretty weird that this guy was nice enough to do this for him. As the male turned his head to ask the question, Gouta gave him a friendly smile. Woah, their noses almost touched. As if Gouta hadn't already been feminized enough, all he needed to now was to engage in a moment of lust with this guy and life would, of course, be complete. Gouta took all his thoughts lightheartedly. Of course he would never have feelings for another male. Pfft. He certainly hoped this male didn't swing that way. He wouldn't be sure how to react.
Responding to his question he stated: "The elephants charged the tree, and knocked me out of it, thankfully they didn't kill me." Hahah. Gouta was pretty sure this guy wouldn't believe him for a second. But it made for a nice story, right?
As the carrier came to the pond, Gouta was gracefully rolled off his back like a piece of luggage. With all the strength he had left in him, the sandy lion crawled towards the water and sunk his face in. Drinking, and waking himself up at the same time.
"Ahhhh...." He said, now refreshed as he lifted his face from the pond. "I would have surely been dead without you. What's your name, kid?"

Feeling the other male's head sinking into his mane he smiled to himself a little. He supposed that the happy little feeling in his gut would be normal if the male on top of him was actually a female, but he wasn't and so Bwana ignored the happy little feeling. It's not like he was into males , he totally dug females...He was just constantly nervous around them and never actually felt comfortable with them. Yeah, he was totally straight. He was distracted from his thoughts by coming nose to nose with the other male, seeing his smile he returned it after asking his question.
After the male answered his question he chuckled softly, "Ah, yeah...those elephants can be a bother." Yeah, he totally didn't believe the other male but he wasn't going to say that. He was nice enough to let the sandy male believe that he had fooled him.
Once he let the other male off his back at the watering hole and quenched his thirst he glanced around with his gold eyes. His observing stopped when he heard the sandy male's voice. "Don't worry about it, just doing the right thing." He grinned, but then wrinkled his nose as he was called kid. "Dubwana'dubu....but most lions find Bwana easier. What about you?" He laid down, close enough to the water's edge that he could stretch his head out and lap at the water. He rested his head on crossed paws, golden eyes looking up at the sandy male.

Gouta snorted, as he believed that he had tricked the other lion to think his story was true. This guy was certainly gullible, any other lion would have at least expressed disbelief. The sandy lion rolled onto his back, his head turned facing the black and white guy. Yawning softly, the lion was tempted to take a nap. But he couldn't in the presence of company.
"Bwana, eh? Well, I'm Gouta." His voice was crisp, despite how hot it was.
They made eye contact. Not the first time this lion has stared into another's eyes, but this time it felt a little different. Attempting to ignore the odd feeling, Gouta rolled back to his haunches and stood on his still wobbly legs. His golden eyes gazed over the waterhole, watching the birds that waded in it.
"So why you out here all alone? Don't you have a family?"

Catching the other lion's name he Bwana smiled, it was a nice name. He wondered if it meant anything, but he wasn't going to ask. That might seem weird.
When they made eye contact the black and white rogue felt a stirring in the pit of his stomach, What the? He'd never felt this way while looking at another lion or lioness and frankly it scared him. Quickly he looked away, not watching Gouta sit up.
He did look back towards the other male when he spoke though. His questions made him tilt his head to the side, his mane shifting with the movement. His family...he had a family, when he was a cub. As he grew up though he drifted away from his family so now he had no one.
"I'm pretty much on my own, no family or friends really..." He trailed off realizing how sad that sounded. Clearing his throat with a gruff sound he pressed on. "But it doesn't bother me much. What about you?" He rolled on his side now, staring up at Gouta with just one golden eye. "Got any family?"

Gouta's eyes flicked over at Bwana curiously. He didn't really have a family either, they kicked him out a long time ago. The poor lion had never even learned how to hunt. But did he want to admit that? No.
"My family died in tragic fire." Gouta's face contorted to a fake frown. "Been alone ever since I was a wee cub."
This sandy lion was quite the liar. Surely Bwana would notice this, one would have to be pretty dumb not to. Facing the waterhole again, Gouta couldn't help but smirk a little. Perhaps he might even be trying to impress this guy.
Advancing slowly, Gouta placed one paw into the water and swished it around, stirring up the mud. Soon enough, both forepaws were wet and he continued to sink himself into the water until only his head was visible.
"The water's fine! You should come in."

Hearing Gouta's sad life story Bwana frowned, that was a depressing thought having a family and then losing them forever. Dubwana lost his family as well but, at least to his knowledge, they were still alive. Poor Gouta on the other hand had no family anywhere. He didn't even think to consider that the sandy lion was lying, the loss of family wasn't really something you lied about. At least in Bwana's mind. Eventually, if he spent enough time with Gouta, the black and white lion would realize that he lied quite often.
Gold eyes watched the sandy rogue, for all of his story's sadness he was surprised that he had managed to survive on his own since he was a cub. Bwana himself had been alone since he was a juvenile but he was bigger and stronger than most rogues so it wasn't such an impressive thing.
Bwana's head tilted to the side watching Gouta wade into the water. Bwana himself had never swam for pleasure. Once he chased a baby gazelle into the water as he was hunting and had to go after it to kill it, but that was different. He hesitated a moment before a smile broke out over his maw. "Alright," Getting to his paws slowly, he dipped a paw in the water testing it. His tail flicked out behind him and a shiver ran over his pelt right before he charged forwards jumping into the water with much splashing and floundering. Oh yes, he was graceful.
After much sputtering and paddling he managed to get his head above water, his mane soaked with water and slicked back random strands sticking to his face and ears. He floated, his paws treading water lazily now that he was in the water. Looking over at Gouta he smiled sheepishly, he had a feeling that all his splashing had gotten the other lion wet. "Sorry if I splashed you." His tail skimmed the top of the water like a white snake.

Truthfully, Gouta felt bad that he had made the other lion frown. It kind of was rude to be lying like this, but sometimes, Gouta couldn't help it. It was just in his blood, his father must have been some weird guy to give him this gene. It would probably make Gouta second guess what he would lie about in the future. No more dead stories for him. Nope. Only silly ones of him being chased around be various animals. That would be it.
The young sandy male paced around in the water, waiting for Bwana to join him. It had been a while since he took a dip, and it felt wonderful. Yet under his mane it was sweltering hot still. Why in the world did the gods give males such thick fur around their heads?! It was a mystery to him at least. Just when Gouta was about to sink his head under, Bwana made his grand entrance into the water.
SPLASH!
Turns out, Gouta didn't even have to go underwater to get water to sink into his head, Bwana had done it without even asking. If Gouta's head could sizzle, it would have as the cold water trickled through the thick fur of his mane. Laughing, hardly able to see, he paddled himself closer to Bwana.
"Hahah! Excellent timing, Bwana! I didn't know you had that big of a splash in you!"

Hearing Gouta's words Bwana grinned, happy that the other male wasn't angry that he splashed him, in fact he looked happy. This was giving him an idea, his grin grew and he paddled closer to the sandy lion.
I can do more than splash!" And grinning deviously he jumped on Gouta, pushing him underwater. He laughed and then realized he was laid perpendicularally on top of Gouta's back. It was a switch from earlier.
Definitely not wanting to drown his new friend Bwana wriggled himself off the other male, the movement causing his stomach and underside to drag across the other's back. Once he was off he turned to see if he had surfaced yet. "Gouta?" He started to wonder if jumping on the other lion wasn't the smartest idea ever.

The sandy colored lion was not expecting what was about to come, especially this time! One moment he was happily above water with his friend and the next he was underwater, having no idea what was going on. The pressure on his back obviously said that Bwana was on top of him, but why? Playing? Gouta wasn't quite sure. Struggling a bit after several seconds, he was relieved that the other lion had shimmied off. A bit less, startled now, he closed his eyes and let himself float a bit under the surface. Until, his nose hit something hard. Wondering what in the world it was, he opened his golden eyes, only to see two other eyes, reptilian eyes staring back at him.
Being nearly out of breath already, Gouta let out a yelp underwater and quickly stuck his head up from the surface. "THERE'S A ******** MONSTER!" He yelled, his eyes dilated and crazy. "GOTTA GET OUT!" Gouta quickly paddled his way to the shore and glanced back to see if Bwana understood the severity.
