During World War II the Japanese army forced as many as 200,000 Korean women into frontline brothels, where they were repeatedly raped. In a 1998 Japanese ruling the surviving women were awarded the ewuivalent of $2,300 each in compensation.

American citizens of Japanese heritage were forced from their homes and businesses into concentration camps, on unsubstantiated suspicions of espionage which later proved to be entirely fabricated by the military. Forty years later, after a lawsuit, when many internees were dead, the court chastized the government and awarded reparations.
Their homes and businesses had been taken by their jealous california neighbors.
