Welcome to The Japanese Translation Game, folks! I'm your host, Bob Barker!*
In this game, you will give one phrase, however practical or ridiculously stupid you would like, for the person after you to translate. It can be anything from asking where the toilet is to explaining how to assemble a rocket ship.
Now, this may sound very difficult to regulate. What if, you say, a beginner gets stuck with translating a line from some writer of florid sensational novels? On the other end of the spectrum, what if an advanced student is given a line from Everybody Poops? Well, don't fear, because there's always a solution.
In your post, you will translate the phrase given to you, and then post three phrases of different levels for the next person to translate.
Like this: Quote: ある朝、僕は店のおじさんとけんかして、海に逃げ込んだのさ。 One morning I fought with the old man at the shop and ran away to the sea. Beginner: Captain Underpants is my favorite book. Intermediate: My older sister's boyfriend is a 40 year old otaku who lives in his grandmother's basement. Advanced: A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing. And the next poster would pick the phrase most suited to their skill level, translate it into Japanese, and add three more phrases for the person following them to choose from.
Simple, right?
So let's get to it! I'll start off with the three I used above.
Beginner: Captain Underpants is my favorite book.
Intermediate: My older sister's boyfriend is a 40 year old otaku who lives in his grandmother's basement.
Advanced: A cynic is a man who knows the price of everything but the value of nothing.
Go!

Ah, sorry, the general meaning was the same. ^^; If you translate literally, some things sound very strange; as with all languages, there are ways to translate some things but not others. I can tell because I'm a native speaker.

Beginner: I'm hungry.
Intermediate: My term paper was due two days ago.
Advanced: I'm excited to go back to Japan, but I don't want to pay for the plane ticket.
