"Com'mon Uncle! Com'mon!" The small foal urged, bouncing around the white and blond stallion, nipping at his clothing and hair in an effort to make him move faster.
Krad snorted and ruffled his wings in annoyance, lip curling slightly at the exuberant foal that bounced about his legs. He'd had a feeling this was going to be a bad idea from the moment it had been proposed. But Rajiv, the eldest of their dysfunctional herd, had insisted that blond should take his nephew out to explore, that it would be good for both of them. It didn't have to be very far, at the very least, out to the lake to enjoy the nice weather. And so Krad had gone, leading the newest member of their group, Dark's first and hopefully only son, over the worn path that led to the lake. But at his own pace, which the young foal didn't like at all and wasn't shy about voicing his opinion. Quite loudly.
"Come onnnnnnn!" Dreyden whined, head butting Krad and promptly falling back onto his behind as Krad was unmoved.
"Patience youngling. Bouncing around like a squirrel on sugar will not make me walk any faster and will only serve to fray my last nerve." The blond warned, tilting an ear back as he glanced down at the violet-haired colt.
Dreyden calmed for all of the space of a few heartbeats before bouncing around once more, hurrying down the path a bit before hurrying back. He may have wanted to get there in a hurry, but he wasn't about to lose sight of the blond. Who despite being so pale in coloring, had the uncanny habit of managing to disappear even in the darkest of nights. Dreyden should know, since there had been quite a few times he had tried to sneak out late at night, only to have older stallion appear out of practically nowhere to chase him back to the teepee. As much as it had spooked the foal, it hadn't stopped him from trying again a few nights later.
Krad sighed, giving up on trying to calm down his young charge and continued to wander down the sun-dappled path. They were almost there anyway. Just a little bit further wasn't soon enough really. Watching Dreyden rushing to and fro, the blond had the fleeting hope that the other youngling was giving Dark just as much, if not more, trouble.
Dreyden made it there first, which was unsurprising. What was rather startling was the yelp the foal gave when he broke through the tree line. "Uncle!!" It was unexpected enough that Krad picked up the pace, trotting through the tree line and looking around for the foal, looking for the danger.
Dreyden giggled off to the side and Krad's head swiveled in that direction, ears back and wings slightly flared, which only made Dreyden giggle more. "Gotcha!" He crowed, prancing around the blond, looking pleased with himself.
Krad rolled his eyes and resisted the urge to smile at the foal's show of mirth. Doing his best to look strict and irritated, he narrowed his eyes at the foal, lip curling. "Why you....Come here!" Krad threatened, kicking up sand as he lunged at the foal.
Dreyden gave another yelp and tore off down the beach laughing, Krad close at his heels, nipping at the foal's purple tail lightly with a grin curving his lips.
Maybe it had been a good idea after all.
