-It had been a bit of time since Carl was hurt and Trea had heard nothing of him. She had managed to get directions to Donna's house, and so here she was. She looked at the small basket she carried with her. She wasn't sure if he would like what she had brought, but the worst he could say was no. So there she stood, hesitating before moving up her tiny hand and knocking on the door, using her powers to make it as loud as a normal persons knock. She needed to be sure she was heard.-

Donna soon arrived, opening the way. By this time she was used to small visitors, so didn't hesitate as she peered down at the mouse maid. "Hey Trea, I'm guessing you're here to see Carl?" The answer was obvious enough - she wouldn't be here to see her, after all. She stepped out of the way and offered a sheepish smile in lieu of her foolish query. "He's in his room in the back, dear. He's bedridden for the time being, but I'm sure he'll be glad for the company."

-She returned the smile with a sheepish one of her own. Making her way into the house and turning, bowing a bit to Donna.-
Thank you so much.
-With that she followed the short directions to his room, entering slowly and looking around. She shifted the basket to her other arm and made her way over to Carl, wondering if he was awake, she called his name softly.-
Carl?

The boy was where he ought to be. Sunlight filtered through his thin curtains, illuminating the raised (velvet sized) bed. Even from beyond the platform it sat, the wounds were still visible. They would heal, no doubt, but the scars would probably never fade.
However, his spirit was recovering. He smiled once he realized she was there and shifted to sit up. "Trea, it's good to see you. What're you doing here though?" Not that there wasn't the slightest look of knowing hope to him. He'd been wishing for some one to come check on him. Well, besides his mom and uncles.

-She grinned wider, seeing him. Moving closer she lifted the basket up a bit.- I wanted to see how you were doing. I never really got to find out what happened to you. I passed out at some point, so remembering much of the night is hard.

Lucky girl...she hadn't had to witness his fall from grace. Carl looked away momentarily as he recalled downing Kae. It was far from pretty...thank gods she may not remember. Yet, his lapse had come after being wounded. No one would tell him what had happened! ran a hand through his headfeathers as he looked back her way. "I don't remember some of it either. I got hurt and LP came, but that's where things get fuzzy. No one wants to let me in on whatever joke happened after that."
(( sorry for the delay! Dinner called ))

-She sat the basket on the end of the bed and climbed up on it, settling next to him. She thought back to that point and grimaced. Now that, she remembered.-
Well, maybe it is best that you don't know. I mean, some memories are just, best left. You know?

Carl looked crestfallen for a moment. "Why is everyone so secretive? Lp wouldn't stop snickering when I asked... Did I do something bad? It's not like I went stripping around the shop...right?" He hoped he hadn't! Gods, he didn't know if he could live that down. He winced at the mental picture. "Please tell me my clothes stayed on at all times. I woke up in different pants than I remember going in..."

-She snickered at the thought. That would have been most amusing to think about. She reached to the basket and pulled out a ham sandwich.-
Here, I know you like meat, so I was hoping you would like this. If not, I brought some fruits and stuff too.
-She looked over his wounds and frowned.- You let this happen all to protect us? Anyway, yes your clothes stayed on.

"Thanks!" He gratefully took the sandwich and nibbled on it. It was good...so good. His mom hadn't been letting him eat more than a little at a time now, so he was well hungered. Once he'd managed half of it, he set it on the nightstand for later. He then settled back into a comfy position and nodded in response. "That's my job...to protect my subjects. More importantly, my friends, and you. I just..." He paused, perhaps it was best she didn't know. Than again, telling half truths wasn't his style. The rest came quietly, almost a coldness to it. What had happened had definitely had an effect on him. "I killed her...didn't I? I don't even know if she was breathing when Nay took her...but I'd do it again. I'm sorry."

-She smiled, happy to see that he enjoyed it so much. For herself she pulled out a PB&J, munching it slowly while she listened to him. Near the end of his words she slowed and set her sandwich to the side.-
I have no idea. I was well out by that time. Or I think I was. Anyway, Carl you did what you had to. I have seen things similar. There really was not much of a way around it. She had no intent to stop.
-She wrapped her arm around his shoulders lightly, hugging him very tender, afraid to hurt him.- You kissed Rogue, by the way.

The explosion of feathers was nearly instantaneous against the girl. Carl fluffed up to maximum fluffy-ocity and looked at her. "I DID WHAT?!" A million things ran through his mind at that moment. What was bad about it was that none of them pointed at any distinguishable feeling about it. He couldn't remember if he'd liked it...but he didn't know if he hadn't liked it either. "Oh my gods..."

-She pulled her arm back and turned to sneeze, his sudden erruption of fluffy causes some of his feathers to tickle her nose. She stayed looking away from him, thinking back to the scene. She decided to say nothing for the time being.-

The feathers didn't seem to want to settle. Carl tried to calm himself down, but seemed to be failing miserably at it. How had this happened? When did that even occur to his brain to do? What would everyone think of him?! What did Trea even think of him? He wondered if she'd answer that. If his prior gaze was not sincere, these were. Big, sad, birdy eyes of deep blue peered up at her in question. "Trea..."

-She looked over as he spoke her name. Her own, large, soft brow doe-eyes locking onto his. It took her a few seconds to gather her own emotions and settle herself enough to keep her voice from waivering.-
Yes?
