crack
A twig snaps, echoing into the night. The dark figure jumps with a soft eep, jerking around in a panicked fright. Her emerald eyes pierced the darkness with their green glow, the moon was rather absent this night. A new moon. It had been four moons now, if there was one, that she had been gone from the white guardian of hers. At nights, she was cold and alone, afraid of the things that went bump in the night. She was never afraid of teh dark-no, she was afraid of what lurked in it. The white markings on her body were the only symbols that ever gave her away and she was soften times finding them the reasons why she was located so easily. Just the other night, she ran into a ambush group. She nearly made away with her life if it weren't for the majority of her body was black. Now, she was just wandering around for the next location to sleep.
"Who would have thought a short hunting trip was going to get me lost... again."
Yorik sighed softly and looked up at the stars. With so many stars of magnificent light, why wasn't there any allowing her to see more clearly? It was a pain to walk in the dark, she often bumped and tripped over things, but she was progressing quite well. With Iorek gone from her side, she was getting more lonely as time progressed and the cold nights was insufferable. She was almost ready to find just about anyone and stick with them before looking for her brother again.

Who would have thought that this murderer would end up being part of a traveling group bent on survival made up of the most strange kind of lionesses any would ever come across. It didn't help that he was the only male, outnumbered by females which meant he really couldn't win. The black male with white tripes upon his pelt, and runes upon his forearm had contemplated getting away from them, but Kyra, she had found him after he had left her once, and he bet she'd be damned if he got away again
He probably wouldn't be able to get away from the other two females either...strange they were, though strong, but they did have their own quirks.
Stopping and crouching down, letting his claws sift into the soft earth beneath his weight, his sensitive eyes picked up a figure not too far from here, female, but none of the three he was with currently. he grinned to himself, was she that bold to go out on her own on a night like this? Was she not afraid of the dark? Perhaps he could test it...

She sighed softly to herself and sat herself down. Around this time of moon cycles, it must have been about the time she went into heat again. A soft smile crossed her maw thinking back to when they were younger.
Being together all their lives and without anyone to tell them what was what and how things were done, things got questioned. She questioned why Iorek was different from her. She questioned why he had mane and she didn't. She found it weird when she smelt funny and he acted strange. It was until they ran into a blue snake that taught them everything in the span of a cycle or two. They learned the difference of males and females. They learned about the gist of mating and how heat worked. Ever since then, Iorek became very, extremely, utterly, absolutely, strangely overly protective over her, even more so during these moments. He would always ground her in a den and he would sit outside and attack any idiot who came near.
What frightened her now was if she came into heat without Iorek around. With a beat of determination she stood up with a huff.
"Who does he think he is!? I can take care of myself, everyone likes me, I can get by without him!"
A soft pang made her murr a little.
"Though, I do miss the company..."

Her voice was soft but stood out against the other whispers of the night. His eyes could pick up on her form, different shades of bright colors from the night's shadows. flicking his tail he crawled forward, silent and deadly, if he was going in for a kill, he would have struck already, playing with your opponent could be fun, but only if it was a damned merc, but no others, they were just for fun if they by chance annoyed him or unsettled him. This one though, nah, he'd just test her.
"Your not afraid of the dark are you?" his voice called out, deep, like a rumble of thunder, and he sprung himself forward, forearms jutted out and he grabbed her sides, forced her to the ground in one fluid motion, but kept his claws retracted so he wouldn't slash into her dark pelt, her warm flesh.
He pushed his weight on hers held his paws on her shoulder and grinned down at her, "It hurts my eyes..."

"H-hey! What are you-umf!"
She managed to call out before the incoming attack. She had little time to react and the time she did have, she spent it talking. Yorik had little to no experience to fighting and any that she did have was useless in this sort of combat. With a slight panic, she wiggled her shoulders and saw that there was going to be no escape for her this time. Oh well, she did nothing to be harmed so there was no need to worry, right? Emerald eyes, geaming trough the darkness, glanced up at her attacker and her lips pulled to a smile.
"Nope, I am not afraid of the dark," She purred softly, moving her paw to touch him the best she could. "I'm only afraid of what may be lurking in its dark depths. And it seems I found one that was far too handsome to hide for long."
She could not help but be that flirtatious, bubbly self that she normally was. Even to strangers, she acted as if she already knew them. She would always act kind and polite, but her manners were nothing like it should be for someone of her status. However, that never stopped her from having her fun, even her older brother could do nothing to prevent her, let alone be immune to such actions.
His last murmured question baffled her and only caused her to question.
"What hurts?..."

Not afraid of the dark? he grinned at her with pearly white fangs that glinted in the dark. He could see her eyes, green, Kyra's used to be green, least he thought so, but they had changed just as she had changed. Shifting his weight a little bit so she couldn't move her paws (he wasn't one that liked to be touched, be vulnerable to be touched) he watched her. She didn't seem afraid, which was awkward, but also good, though also bad if she had come across any other male in the night, she was small compared to his size, and to others, easily to be taken away in the night.
Why was she alone anyway?
He quirked a brow and stepped away from her, pulled back, watched, head held high, and he grinned, "The light, it hurts my eyes...whats' your name?"

She watched his fangs carefully, nice, clean, and bright. Weird for anyone really, but she supposed everyone had their priorities. She sat herself up on her side, looking out around them. No one was around. Looking up to the moon less sky, she was rather curious why that this night had drawn attention to her. Was it something that she did not know? She was sure that it was nearing her usually heat cycle, but she wasn't going to let that on to anyone, and if she realized it first, she had to find a place to hide herself as her brother had taught her to.
So the light ailed him... something to remember. If light hurt his eyes, then he wasn't going to like Iorek too much.
"My name's Yorik Kougar. That's pronounced 'coo-gahr', mind you. And what is yours? I suspect my attacker has a name at the very least."
She gave a slight smile before turning her head from him. It had been a while since she ever gave her full name, usually it was Iorek's job to do that. Though, this one seemed nice enough and she was seeking some sort of company while Iorek was away.

"My name, if you really want to know, and you aren't afraid, perhaps you'll know in time Yorik..." his deep voice rumbled as he grinned at her, eyeing her in he dark, watching her perfectly, the strange hues of whites and pinks and reds all mixing together amongst the rest of the terrain. "Though a couple I know just call me Big Evil, so its up to you."
Flicking his tail he made a circle around her in the night, sniffed the air, smirked, oh Kyra would smack him for the thoughts that crossed his primal mind, he was a warrior, fueled by survival, unable to convert to any other desires or wants of others besides his own, fury filled his heart and soul, he was one of the last, if not the last of his kind.
"Now why would you be all alone Yorik? Your definitely asking for trouble. being alone, its not safe.."

"I refuse to call anyone by any name unless it is their own. And I am down right sure that Big Evil is not a suitable name for someone as big, dark, handsome, and strong as you. You don't look anything that could resemble evil from what I can see, though ain't much in the dark."
Her eyes remained on him as he moved. Green against his, watching ever so for the slightest of movements. What was he up to? In her life, she had never seen any male do this, she had seen females do it during hunts, but never else. Confession; she had a habit of spying on females as they hunted when she was younger, though, even now she was a horrible hunter. Thinking over his words, she was sure that she will get his name sooner or later. If not now, she planned to get it.
"Funny you should ask that." She raised to her feet and turned with him, walking beside him in a circle like him. "I was off hunting, because my... friend was far too lazy to do it himself. So I went off to chase a herd of gizelle and I ended up getting separated from my friend. Soooo little ol' me's been wandering around alone for the past couple of moons. This would be my fifth one, but as you can see, not even the moon desires to give me company this night."

"Really?" he asked as he stopped, narrowed his eyes then calmed himself, calmed his blood, he didn't like giving his real name right off, even those females he traveled with now, Kyra knew his name, the other two did not, yet. He let his claws slip against the earth momentarily before holding them back again. This female was strange, intelligent, not as strong as Kyra, Karndess or the strange wary female Rellik, but still...something.
"Not much of a hunter huh? Well then, Yorik" he said with a grin, taking a step closer, her scent taking him again, "I have a proposition for you," a smirk, a lick of his tongue against his maw, "I'll try to convince those I travel with now, to let you stay with us until you reunite with your friend...if, now here's the important part, if you would do what I say, and what others say, they of course would have to go through me first, pass it by me of course...though all decisions, would have to be run by me..."
He grinned, flicked his tail, "Say yes, and I'll take you back with me, and I'll give you some company tonight, and other nights..."

What an offer? He sounded like he was in charge of something to have orders and requests passed through him. Also, he is the one who implimented such requests and carried out the orders himself. He reminded her a lot of Iorek, the one in charge and took care of absolutely everything. If she had anything to do or wanted something done, he was teh one who did it. Amazing.
However, it was the offer at hand that she had to think about. Yorik stopped where she was and turned back to him. Her body, lithe for a lion, but strong enough to hold her own against another. She was quite capable of fighting and such, but it was a matter of experience, something she had little of. Her emerald eyes glew in the darkness like a light refracting off them. To have a company for this night and possibly other nights until she found Iorek again. How could she possibly pass up a chance like this?
With a smile.
"If I say yes, would you give me your name, stranger?"

He grinned, and it didn't fade from his maw, ah yes, this was turning out well. However, he knew he'd have to watch out for Kyra 'cause she'd most likely try to shiv his tail when he wasn't looking, he'd have to explain it to her though, she'd sulk for a while, hate him, but...it was life, and Kyra had made the same promise to do what he said, give all the decision making to him. Kyra, and the others wouldn't have a choice.
Flicking his tail, he thought over his options, Yorik would find out about things, but what she didn't know is that if she agreed, that was it, she'd be bound by words, he nodded, and took a step, "If you agree, walk with me, and I'll tell you my name..."

Iorek would understand, this was the best for her. She would not be alone and utterly defenseless. He would be glad for that she made a decision that ultimately led to her survival. Oh, won't he be surprised to know that she was with a male that was just like him! ... just bigger. perhaps stronger. heavier. a lot more handsome, if she said so herself. One gets the idea.
She happily took the steps to come to his side, smiling up at him, the rune upon her forehead being revealed in the starlight as her fur moved away from it.
"I agree, I will come with you."
Little did she know, the one thing she sought out to prove to her brother was about to be met. And worse off, she was in over her head.

The dark male grinned as she walked over to him, walked with him, their paws tredding against the earth like low drums in a continual beat, even, calm, he smirked to himself, looked at her, her rune, though of the own on his leg, and looked up to the stars, the sky was beginning to change, daylight would come in severl hours and they would have to take shelter somewhere before they got back to the other.
Oh the beginnings and troubles he started.
"Riddick..." he said simply, his name, she knew, even before the other females, well, besides Kyra, Jack...she knew already.
Oh his tail was in for it but...Yorik, just something about her.
