This is the story of the Doctor. If you have seen the show then you know all you need to. If not a few over views.
The Doctor- He is a Timelord from the planet Gallifrey (The timlords home planet). He is around 950 years old. The Doctor travels throughout time in his TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space). It is typical that he always has a companion or companions. As of now he is in his 10th regeneration and rumors to regenerate on the show again.
Timelord/Timelady- The Timelords lived on the planet Gallifrey and are all but extinct. The Doctor is rumored to be the last one left of his kind but the Master (the Doctor's smartest enemy) has shown up and it is rumored the Timelady the Rani is still alive as well (another renegade Timelord). Timelords cheat death by regenerating. All have appeared human, but it is mentioned that they could look slightly different. The Doctor jokes, "I could have two heads or no heads. Imagine me with no head..." Each knows the fabrics of time and space no how it all works. Though the Doctor being the only one left, he is the only keeper of the vast knowledge.
Gallifrey- The home planet of the Timelords. It was destroyed during the last great time war between the Timelords and the Daleks.
TARDIS- The TARDIS is a space and time traveling ship. In all actuallitry a TARDIS, while it is a vessel, is a living creature. They are not build, but they grow. Each TARDIS has a chameleon circut which allows it to blend into the surrounding environment. "If we were in anceint Rome, it would make its look like a statue," -The Doctor. The Doctor's TARDIS however constantly looks like a blue police box from England in the 1950s because the circut broke. The Doctor has tried to fix it, but it has broken again multiple times in his returns and therefore he just leaves it as the police box.
Daleks- The Doctor's everlasting enemies. They are a race that is horrific and ugly. The generally look like octopi or squid with one eye and an exposed brain. You rarely see the true Dalek, but rather its shell. It is a dome like machine with an eye stock to see, a sink plunger looking arm that functions as a way to enact with machines, drain intelligence and life from victims, among a few other uses. It also has a gun stock that fires a laser-like beam. The beam pretty well destroys living tissue and almso seems like a pure-concentrated beam of electricity. The Dalek shell is made of Dalek-anium and nearly impenetrible itself. Over the centuries they have upgrade to be able to levitate, fly, and gain a forcefield. They're ultimate goal is universal supremacy and to exterminate all inferior creatures which is anything that is not a Dalek. They were created by Davros.
The Master- An evil Timelord. Truly his title is The Master of Everything (the Doctor's is The Doctor of All Things). The Master seeks universal conquest and is extreme smart and cunning. He has come close on mulitple occasions by manipulating others and since his life span is nearly endless he has literally all the time in the world. With a TARDIS he owns time only to be stopped by the Doctor having the same ability. He was destroyed at one time but ressurected by the Timelords during the Time War with the Daleks and fled when he saw the emporer in the citadel taking the essence of a human with a special technology. He is now assumed dead as he was shot and let himself die instead of being the Doctor's prisoner.
Cybermen- These are part human and mechanical creatures. They are controlled by the cyber-controller which is a designated cyberman leader. These creatures are in essences a human brain in a metal suit with all feelings removed. They look to "upgrade" the universl in their image turning all into cybermen. In one dimension they were created on another planet but in an alternate one, they were created on Earth. They have changed looks minorly throughout time.
Davros- Davros was a scientific genious and main hope of the Kaled people. He worked on creating the Daleks to find the final evolution of the Kaled people. Seeing their ultimate fate, he worked on a transportation unit. This was all during a war on the Planet Skaro where the Thaos and Kaleds fought a war over dominance and survival starting with weapons of the future and degraded to less and less as supplies have been running out. Hence the science division and Davros to work on ways no long to win, but survive. Davros came up with the Daleks, originally to be for the survival of his people, but removed the emotions and placed a powerful weapon upon them. He was later betrayed by his creations as he was inferior and has returned multiple times.
