Ukoo was handling the new lifestyle pretty well-she thought at least. She was not as mopey and for some reason her dreams were becoming less and less hazardous to her health it seemed. She was sleeping now-something she hadn't done successfully back home. She as releived by this-her horrible nightmares of blood and pain-seased to sting her mind for a while.
In return, she was not so slow and mopey... she had even started to play with little Edom and the other children a bit-seeing that she was taking the place of caretaker for now. She really didn't mind all that much... it kept her mind from straying to the cold-hard facts of this new life.
No more family-sisters and brothers gone-cousins... Mom and Dad.... grandparents... all gone.
She was sitting in the moonlight, not able to fall into slumber. She missed the sun-but... she was trying to fit into their lifestyle the best she could. She had tossed herself over a fallen log, her legs tucked up under her, red eyes blinking out into the moonlight. She started to hum-a slow and sad melody... one of a song her Sister had sung with her at one time. She shut her eyes... Remembering.

Toshiro was handling the new lifestyle of living in the shadows of night far better than Ukoo. As his tail curled, he padded amid the trees. Now and then, a leaf or branch brushed a healing wound, but he ignored them.
As his dark forepaw stepped into the clearing, he emediately noticed another. He sniffed at the air, mind processing who it was. Familiar scent... Ah, right, one of his five cousins. A light growl entered his throat, but he didn't let his displeasure show.
"Taking a break from your duties?" His paws moved without him thinking much, and he was soon beside the log, green eyes looking down almost boredly at red. "Or are the royal cubs too much for you to handle?"

Ukoo sighed to herself, she only wished her dreams had shown her something true. The white figure named Moses had played in her dreams-over and over-and she was sure it was fate... not one like this but-something more. She shook her head to herself, not hearing the approach of Toshiro. Before long-she was not alone-but her night senses were keen now-and she turned to watch him approach.
He was familiar looking-but strange. A memory of her cousin Melhor but... not him. She blinked to him-not catching his words at first-but she blinked quickly and searched for words quickly. "Er... They are all acounted for-I am not needed as of now... but if they need me-they will call." She said, looking down at the log for a moment.
She gazed straight at him-her thougths racing... she knew him but... she did not. "You seem familiar to me..." She said simply

Letting out a scoff, the piebald male circled the log. "Good, good... I'd hate to see my mistress missing a cub..." Even if at least one was a strange hue of pink....
As he stopped in front of her, he tiled his head. "Oh, I feel insulted... Ukoo, Ukoo, Ukoo... How do you forget your own FAMILY?" Sitting down, he placed a paw over his heart. "Me being your oldest COUSIN..." He stood, circling again.
Jumping on the log, he stretched out. "Tell me, are you worth my time to talk to? I do enjoy a good conversation... And few lions seem capable of that to me..." Flopping down, he allowed a paw to dangle. Even as an adult... He wasn't too much bigger than she.

Ukoo watched him, her red eyes intent. She didn't know his intentions. Since she came to live here with these lions-she became more and more careful around them-watching them... her dreams began to be more vivid and gave her head aches at times-and she still avoided the topic when asked about them-she didn't want them to know she was a seeress. She nodded at his words. "I would also hate to have a child missing from my Mistress as well." She said.
Her mistress... was she her mistress? She blinked slowly, her red eyes softening... as she imagined her family quickly for a moment, her mother... how she missed her. His words caught her by surprise. "W-what? Cousins..." She cocked her head, standing up on the log, front paw raised. "I-I don't... I never met anyone in my family other than my mothers side... and a cousin named-named Melhor..." She said, looking at him for a moment, taking him in.
"Yes... I am worth it... Please Toshiro... Please grace me with your presence... so I can... so I can get to know a family member-that I can actually see again..." She pleaded, her body lowering submissivly.

At the mention of Melhor, his face darkened and his claws dug into the log. "Third cousin..." His tail curled. "Melhor's father, Shin, is my own son..." He tilted his head, regarding her. "But we... We are direct cousins... Your father is my mother's brother..."
Rolling onto his back, he rubbed it against the log. "I suppose family makes it worth it... You're stronger than my son, anyway." He couldn't help smirking, upside down, at her. "You live here, after all. That takes some strength."

it was all to good to be true... A family member. Through her father... oh... she could feel blood rush to her face in excitement, though she tried to keep herself calm outwardly. She lifted her paws back and forth for a moment, a smile on her face as he crimson eyes shown. Her blood eyes and drew Shaitani to bringing her here... "Wow... Really! Wow..." She said, blinking wildly up at him. She hadn't seen Melhor in so long, and at the mentioning of his name made her not notice Toshiro's obvious dislike for him.
"I played with Melhor for one day... and promised I'd see him again really soon... but... I am afraid he may not see me again.." She said quietly, looking down at her gloved paws, flexing them. "I never met anyone else on my fathers side of my family... just my Mothers... Since I lived with my grandmother and grandfather... and my parents of course... And my Grandparents had cubs at the same time... so... I had a big family...
I am glad I have someone of blood with me here in my new home." She said, blinking slowly. In a home-that she felt un-natural in... but would not leave. Her dreams told her in one way or another, that this was home... Moses.... her dream of moses... and love... she'd find it... someday.

He let out a sniff, rolling back over. "Weakling from weak blood... You're better off without his like." Stepping off the log, the male circled the juvenile. "Know this, Ukoo... I will be a bit easier on you than the others - After all, we ARE family." He pulled her close in something of a hug, smiling darkly. "But being family does not mean I will be TOO kind to you." He used his claws as he tussled the tuft of hair on her head.
He paused, regarding her. "And your family IS bigger than you think. Shin has three brothers and two sisters, I myself have at least five brothers and eight sisters..." That he knew of, anyway. Only Sairin would know otherwise... And he wasn't about to ask his brother anything. "Who knows how many children any of THEM have..."

Ukoo stared up at him, her crimson eyes blinking slowly as she took in his words. She looked down, her face showing her displeasure at the thought of-never seeing them again. She would ever see herself as higher than others, let alone better off without them. She reached up and rubbed her nose with a gloved paw. "I will take your word for it then." She said simply, knowing in her heart it would be best to forget Melhor... and her old home. She had her duties here.
She counted in her head-her family was getting larger and larger, and who knew what was happening back home without her... did Pya have cubs with that female? She smiled, looking up at her cousin. "I know it may be irrelevant... but my mother and father-back home... they may have more cubs by now." She said with a silly grin.. the thought of more cubs rolling around... It made something in her heart stir. She looked confused for a moment.

Smiling, he ruffled her fur again. "That's a good girl." He stood up, stretching out again. Unlike Ukoo, Toshiro thought very little of his old home. He didn't even consider it a home, really. Since he'd struck out as a cub, he'd never stayed in one place long. He was, in essence, a shadow on the land, constantly moving.
He gave her a dark look, scowling. "Cubs are a waste of time. They steal attention from older sibblings, who are then ignored by their parents." He examined his claws on his darker paw, then swung, smashing a branch off of the log. A growl rose up in the male's throat as he glared, thinking of his mother toting around cubs. It made him sick and angry. One day... He'd teach her..
Looking at Ukoo, he practically glared. "If I see any of the little furballs..." His fur rose up on his back, though he didn't finish the sentence. He'd leave that to one's imagination.

Ukoo looked to him with a sullen look, though she smiled a bit when he patted her on the head. She really felt more comforted with someone who was related-it made her feel less alone. She sighed, looking down at her own feet as she could hear his voice grow more-dark and angry. She looked up at him from the corner of her eye, watching him take a swing and she could not help but wince at his fury. She was glad that was one thing she did not share with him-family feelings. She kept her gaze away from him. "I wish I could see some of them again..." She said quietly, looking at her feet.
In reality, she thought that the idea of cubs was a wonderful thing-little furry thins running around. She had grown with over ten cousins and siblings at once... and she missed it.

Letting out a grunt, Toshiro looked at his cousin. "I doubt you'll see them again. If they haven't come looking for you by now, they're not going to and not worth your time." Padding around the female, he gave her a dark, sweet smile. "Just do me a favor and stop worrying, okay?" He reached up, pinching her cheek and giving it a little shake. "You're part of the darkness now, and there's no escaping it." With a flick of his tail, he turned and padded off into the trees.

These were all words Ukoo had been expecting to hear. But his words hurt her hard-and she glared up at her cousin with tears starting to brim. They loved her-they had to have searched for her! Sure, uncle pya had tried to kill her as a baby but-it didn't matter. She pulled her face away from him with a choking gasp-not wanting to hear his words anymore. She stood there, watching him walk away and hated him for being so cold-but perhaps coldness was what made him belong here.
She stood there, now alone in her misery and sadness... She dropped down to the ground in one slow motion-as if the weight of it all was to much for her to bear. She lowered her head, covering her head with her gloved paw.
