First of all, what program(s) are you using? If you don't have Finale or Sibelius, I suggest either, but they are quite costly (you do mean a program for writing music, right?). If you use Finale, there is a way to make it go faster, but it's pretty complicated, and the help file doesn't help very much. It's best to be shown in person! sweatdrop Why do you have to write the piece(s)?

Transcription and transposition is i big part of jazz. If your doing it freehand or by computer. It may be tedious but it helps you understand the music itself. There's no easy way to do it in my eyes, but the more you do it the better and faster you get.

there is something you can do to help a little: go to a music store and get a few manuscript papers; photocopy as many as you need, and sketch it, then put it in the program. MH is right--it ain't easy. Is there someone you can ask for help (in real life)?

Do other people really need to see it?

Lol, some people can write stuff down SUPER fast. You can't really understand it afterwards, but thats not really what matters.

Half the pieces I have written down involve a few chords, a few notes, and the words 'diddle' and 'hold'.
Other times they might include some rhythms that I KNOW I must follow.

I learnt this technique at school in the Jazz Band. So chances are, you should be ok with a few scribble on paper (lots of arrows)
