I was wondering, if someone wanted to go to school in japan, to do the Japaneses as a second language courses, what would they have to do before they went there? You would be going to school to be a translator, or something like that.
What degree would you need to get from a junior college or university?

I don't know for sure, but I would assume that you would want to pass the proficiency tests. I think I've heard that you need to pass all level one (the hardest one) in order to go to a good school. But like I said, I'm not really positive.

Generally they are plotted as part of your Degree.
Most colleges that have Japanese offer semester and year courses where you'll go to study japanese and usually take other courses (in english) so you don't totally fall behind in your main degree plan.
As for prerequisites often a minimum GPA, minimum/maximum credits, or japanese level are used in some sort of combination. The most important factor though is MONEY. If you don't have a few G's laying around you'll be pulling out a loan because even normal scholarships aren't going to cover the cost entirely.
There's also some highschool programs, but they're a bit less common and I haven't uch experience.
It's easiest to go through a college stateside, although it is possible to directly apply to schools in Japan however. The main benefit being that they'll assure the credits actually transfer and you don't waste a ton of money on something you don't need.
>>What degree would you need to get from a junior college or university? Well, to go to a Japanese University you don't really need a degree persay as most of their programs are meant to fit into an undergraduate level year.
If you wanted to say, go to a graduate program it'd still be easier to organize it via a school here, but you'd probably need an undergraduate (Bachelors) degree in Japanese with good to excellent grades.
Just for reference, Konan University (fairly high end) needed a 3.5gpa, and 2nd year+ Japanese for their year programs when I applied.
