I have been in Gaia since the dawn of it has been made. Actually I have been on gaia since, June 28,2004. I was not a frequent user after for a year and a half but I have noticed great changes in gaia now that I am back and a frequent user.
In this topic I'll talk about the noob treatment. I have seen many changes in it. In the past, members started from scratch with only peasant clothes to wear. Now, there is a thing called "Starter Outfits" and it's getting better and better as they keep creating a more updated outfit. Sure, they first allowed us to have a choice with the starter outfits like the noobs now. But they created a newly updated one. So, why aren't they giving out starter outfits again?
Another thing that has changed is that Gaia Gold (GG) has been given to them on the spot while in the past it was scratch.
There are other things I disapprove with the changes in Gaia and the Noob treatment is one of them.

I understand how you feel, the idea of the clothes, i'm 100% in agreement, let them pick from the basic peasent clothes again; let then earn/save gold for better looking, more complex outfits. They shouldnt get something that looks realativly good looking, just something extremely plain and simple. The thing about the gold though i disagree. If they're given a 500 gold head start, instead of a 100 gold one(which is how much i remember getting when i first started) it's due to the inflation of the market place in gaia. They can't really control the market very well, so noobs that have no idea what they're doing will probably spend the gold on something extremely cheap and wothless without realizing that they should have used the gold for something else, either investing or saving.

If you look at the marketplace and notice what the prices of the items are, you notice that there is a large difference in the actual price found in the stores and what is sold in the marketplace. That difference is... The price in the marketplace is relatively higher than the store price. I think that's just weird and I do not know why some users actually purchase there.
The control of GG always decreases though. It decreases from 50 Gold First post to 14 Gold than lower and lower. Afterwards it's only 4 GG per post (I think...)
The only ways to get better gold is to go gaming. Even the polls for GG isn't great too. It's only 14 Gold. If I am a frequent user, I might (maybe) get 1K in one week. If I'm very frequent and all around the place with my posts.

But how do you know the noobs are the ones ACTUALLY spending their GG on cheap worthless items. Maybe they need the items for something in the future like a quest?
