Nyack flexed his hind leg and winced. Still sore... At least the splint was off. Hopefully it had mended properly. The male dropped down by a water hole and started to drink. Where was he? He didn't know anymore. He could smell the scent of a pride nearby but as for caring? He just didn't anymore.
A stronger male could take him down easily with his wounded leg but he didn't think it would happen. He lapped up the cool water and searched for anything to eat along the bank. There was something...
His violet eyes narrowed as he approached it, body tensed. This was a dangerous animal but so was he. A porcupine. He was told only the smartest lions could catch and eat it without getting hurt by the quills. He gave it a wide birth, circling around it. His stomach clawing at him with hunger.
Maybe it wasn't the smartest... Maybe it was the most desperate.
He studied it in a way the rather dimwitted lion had never done before. He was far too hungry to take in to consideration that the quills held poison or that the pain was extreme enough to rival his broken leg. Only that it carried meat somewhere under that mass of spines.
He waited, watching as it went to drink. So it was unaware of him, good. His eyes landed on a rather large rock and he gazed at the creature again. A grin spread across his face as he placed his head against the rock and began to push.
It gave and rolled toward the creature who gazed up in surprise as the rock hit him dead center. Pushed onto his back, his legs waved helplessly to to flip himself over. He wasn't quick enough as Nyack dove done on him and picked up up his his jaws but the soft under belly.
The male moved back to where he was laying down and started to eat. So what if he wasn't smart? He survived.

Tari'alla Mila wandered through the lands, her gentle steps making hardly a sound as she walked. Her throat was parched, she had been walking for a while now, something she found herself doing more and more often. She would get up, speak with her family, then disappear for hours on a long walk to... anywhere.
The adolescent lioness approached a watering hole she had never seen before, and her pale eyes gazed curiously at her own reflection for a while. She hadn't noticed the lion with his kill, until the smell of blood hit her nostrils. She looked up quickly, her gaze scanning the area.
Her eyes fell on the lion, munching his porcupine. She wondered how he had killed it, since she had seen those creatures walking around herself. She had never dared try and kill one though, or perhaps she had never been hungry enough for the task.
She waded into the pool of water, quenching her thirst, her eyes still on him. She knew not to go near another creature while they were eating; that was something she had known since she was a child. She waited patiently to see what he would do, her tongue lapping up the cool liquid into her mouth.

Nyack paused, meat dangling from his mouth as he watched the female. His tail jerked to the left and right as he focused on her. Should he great her? There was no reason not to.
He looked at his kill then picked it up in his mouth. part of him wanting to show off as he laid it near the shore where she'd waded out. It was obvious he was favoring his right hind leg which had some sort of odd combination of sticks and things around it. A gift from a Goddess.
"Hello..." He greeted as he dipped his muzzle into the water to wash away the blood. His voice practically bursting with friendliness. "My name is Nyack... I hope I'm not intruding on your lands."
He was fascinated by her coat. He found it very beautiful and he lowered his head, giving a sheepish grin. He hoped this one was snarky and rude like others he'd met.

Tari looked up at the male, her pale eyes blinking softly. She watched his words hit the ground, a mixture of gold and brown hues, that sunk down slowly and softly. She was glad that the male wasn't angry or sad, the colors told her he was amiable and kind. Tari had a special ability; she could 'see' words that others and herself spoke. They appeared to her as clouds of color that disappeared moments after leaving the mouth, causing her to usually look right below the creature's head, rather than in their eyes. In her later years she grew to teach herself to look in their eyes more though, since it was only courtious.
"Hello." She replied, her light voice chiming softly. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Nyack. I am Tari'alla Mila, but you're welcome to call me Tari." She bowed her head low, with respect. Her eyes lingered only a brief moment on his leg, more out of curiousity than anything else. "And no, there's no intrusion. My fmaily's den is far from here, though I'm not sure about other lions. It seems there's always someone coming or ging around here."

He smiled brightly when she returned his kindness with some of her own. "Its a pleasure to meet you as well Tari..." He said shaking his head after he was clean to remove the water. His green mane fell across is forehead and he brushed it back with a paw.
"As long as I'm not bothering you... I can leave if asked to." He lifted his gaze passed the shore of the water and over the grass. A pride... He wondered which one. He walked a bit closer, carefully lifting his leg in the water and making sure he didn't trip over an unseen rock. "Would you like the rest of my kill? I'm finished with it... and I'd hate for it to go to waste... Are their crocodiles in this water hole?"

Tari smiled at him, her eyes watching the words fall from his mouth. They danced slowly around in circles and patterns that entranced her, before melting into the earth. She had never seen someone's cloud-words do that before, and she wondered what it meant.
She pushed the thoughts aside as he spoke, and she looked back up to meet his eyes. "Oh it's no bother at all. I always love to meet new people." She said with another smile. "Oh thank you very much, but I already ate. I wouldn't want to take your kill from you anyway." She said, looking at the porcupine.
"I don't believe there are crocodiles, but I've never been to this one before." She said, frowing at the water. She took a few steps back out of it, making sure her feet were firmly on land. Couldn't be too careful.

Nyack grinned at her and feeling slightly embarrassed. "Me too..." He replied then batted at the water with a paw. "No its fine I'm done..." He gazed around the water hole before deciding it was probably too small for crocodiles.
"Never been here? So it must be a bit of a distance from your pride..." He said looking skyward, tail flickering. He walked out onto the shore and shook himself, sending water droplet unintentionally at her. "Could I get you to show me around..."

Tari smiled at him, intrigued by his shy demeanor. She had never really met anyone who acted that way. She wondered why he was so shy, she had never been shy herself. She always just asked what she wanted, said what she wanted, rarely thinking of consequences.
"Oh sure, I'll show you around." She said with a nod, standing up and turning to go towards her den. "It's a lovely place."

The male moved beside her and started to follow. "A lovely place for a lovely lady." He said with a small smile and a blush. He hadn't really meant it as a flirt. He just thought she should know she was pretty.
His tail flickered quickly he ducked his head. "Thank you for showing me around..."

Tari smiled at him, a light blush touching her cheeks. "Oh, well thank you." She said softly, looking ahead and feeling her heart flutter. She wasn't used to compliments, and she wondered for a little while what she should say. Should she compliment him back, or just move on? She decided to move on to another subject as they walked slowly through the savanna.
"Have you been traveling long?" She asked, wondering where he was from originally. She had always been nosy, though not meaning to pry. She was just always curious.

He smiled at her then took in everything as the walked. It was nice, for once, to have company that didn't try to drive him off or make fun of him. Someone who wanted to talk to him and was nice herself. He enjoyed that and he couldn't help the smile that reached his eyes all the way to his tail.
"Long? Yes... You see I was part of a group... and I decided to go off by myself for a while and got lost. I know they kept moving so I'm traveling until I find them again... A water buffalo broke my leg and hindered me a bit but I'm sure I'll catch up."

Tari nodded as they walked, coming up to an extremely large rock formation. It was her landmark, so she always knew how to get home. She had always had a horrible sense of direction, usually relying on one of her family members to travel with her so she wouldn't get lost. But she had practiced and she only got lost a few times a day now.
"Oh my, that's terrible. I do see you're on the mend though, that's good." She smiled a little, then looked up at the large rocks. She used to play there when she was small, there were hundreds of crevices a cub could squeeze into, only a few large enough for her now. The thought made her sad, and she didn't know why. "I couldn't bear to lose my family, we may not get along all the time but they're all I've got."

Nyack nodded and smiled. "Yah it'll be good as new soon."
He paused as she looked at the rock. She seemed... sad. His ears went down as he studied it. What could make her so sad? Nyack gazed over at her then back at the rock. Only her family... So maybe she was lonely too.
The male needed to cheer her up! He gazed up as thunder rumbled in the not so distance. The rain trying to put a damper on his plan! The violet eyed lion bumped her shoulder then jumped onto the rock formation. He gave a wince as his sore leg buckled under him, making him lay down where he was.
There was almost a hissing noise as the rain started over the them, hard and unforgiving. He pulled himself up and glared skyward. "Come on, we'd better get out of the rain." He stated, pulling himself into a crevice that seemed to small but opened up inside. A lucky guess as this was probably the only one the two of them could comfortably fit in.

Tari looked up at the sky, her pale eyes taking in the clouds. The rain hit her coat hard. She gracefully leaped up the rocks, moving from one to the other quickly. She followed him inside, looking around at the small carven with interest.
"I used to play here all the time, I don't remember this crevice. Maybe something dug it out, or a wall broke down between two." She was thinking out loud, and she glanced over at him, looking at his leg. "Are you alright? It looked like you may have hurt your leg." She said with concern.

"Lucky for us...." Nyack commented then dropped down and nudged at his leg. "I don't care much for rain..." He muttered then looked up at her, ears going back.
"Well I... uhm... It'll be... alright..." He licked at part that was still exposed. "I just forgot it was... hurt when I jumped." He gave her a sheepish smile and sighed, staring out at the rain. "What do we do now?"
