Aki cantered happily through the trees, her hooves pounding out a three-beat rhythm. She had heard Xai'Lin and Nailah's foals were due yesterday, so she meant to go meet and congratulate them. Perhaps she might even be allowed to play with the foals...
The air around her called to her, coaxing her to fly with it. Complying, the grey-and-red filly leapt into the air, watching below as she soared contentedly through the air. She loved foals so very much! Her own foster sisters, Liko and Bahiya, were so pretty...She couldn't wait to see the newborns. Xai'Lin's markings were so amazing, the foals couldn't fail to be beautiful.
Spotting the white-red stallion, Nailah, down below, Aki glided down and landed, still clumsy as ever. Though Ioni had taught her all sorts of flying tricks and how to soar gracefully, she still simply could not land properly. Blushing, she straightened and trotted up to the stallion. "Hello...um...sir," she offered awkwardly. "I'm Aki. I heard you and Xai'Lin just had foals." She paused, then continued shyly, "Could I--maybe--see them?"

The sweet-tempered pegasus was taken aback by the yearling approaching him- and even more by what she said. His jaw dropped. "I, uhm. Either you're mistaken, or Xai'Liin hasn't been telling me all that she should. Not that I'm surprised!" He closed his eyes for a moment; clearly both amused and upset. He re-opened them to look down at the pegasus female. "Which makes me wonder how it is you know... I know Xai'Liin doesn't really talk to anyone. Ever, if she can avoid it. It intrigues me that you somehow know I'm a parent- when it's news to me?" He shook his head; the yearling knew, that was all, and she wanted to see the foals, not stand here with him. "You'll have to come back and tell me about it. I imagine Xai'Liin is in the forest- that's where she usually is- but I don't know what she'll think to your proposition. You're welcome to try; but you'll have more chance of really spending times with the foals if she's not around." He frowned slightly. Xai'Liin a mother... And with my foals? I'm not sure she could be a good mother; so cold and distant... Maybe it's good if they have someone else around too.

Aki blinked, confused. "You didn't know you have foals?" She knew Xai'Liin was one of the less social unisi, but she figured at least the father would know... At Nailah's question, she blushed guiltily and looked at the ground. "I--I noticed she was--" Hesitating, she mumbled, "...gaining weight...I was curious, so I spied on her. I really do love foals so much..." At the stallion's advice, she gazed up gratefully. "Could--would you help me find her?"

Nailah smiled gently at her question. "I'm sorry, but... If she didn't want me to know just yet, I had better keep my distance until she is ready to tell me. I'm afraid I'm going to have to refuse, and request you look alone." He pondered over what else to say; before continuing. "It would make my heart lighter to know the foals have a friend, even if you have to see them behind Xai'Liin's back. So I wish you all the best."

Aki thanked the stallion, cantering off again. The forest was shady and cool, a delight though she normally preferred the sunlight. She could somewhat understand someone's love for the forest, but she would never want to live there. Keeping an eye out for flecks of white, gold, and red, she wandered deeper into the forest...

((So I guess we can say that Aki couldn't find Xai'Lin and the foals when she was a yearling, so now she meets Lii'Shun way later... So now they're grown up. )) Aki cantered through the trees, slightly put off by the fact that they were so tightly packed there was no room to fly. You could have started flying before you came in here, she reprimanded herself. You could be flying above the forest now.
With a sigh, she stopped and looked around. Though she knew the sky perfectly, where all the thermal rises and air currents were, she was completely disoriented here, on the ground, in the forest. In the sky...one could go in a perfectly straight line, but here there was always something in her path, forcing her to go around. And though she tried to get back on the same line after circumventing the obstacle, she couldn't help but feel she was going around in circles...

Lii'Shun let out a little whinney as he finally managed to locate that clearing. He had found it before; but not for so long. He lightly pranced around the edges, before lowering his nose into a patch of wildflowers and sinffing deeply. Their sweet scent filled his nose and he nearly swooned with delight.
The trees above parted here; but he had discovered that it was still easier to land on the outskirts and slip through the woods. He knew them well; having been half raised in here; his mother had been cold, at times, but she had taught him well how to find his way.
This place... It was perfect. He pulled at a mouthful of incredibly sweet, juicy grass; closing his golden eyes to chew it down before wandering to the stream at one end of the glade. The sun sent beams of sunlight down, causing dancing reflections on the gurgling water. Lii'Shun bent to drink; ignoring his reflection and focusing on the cool water. His thirst sated, the stallion found he didn't want to really do anything here; so he lay down in the sun, his semi-transparent red wings lying on his back. He didn't feel he was an attractive stallion; but here, it didn't matter. He was alone; blissfully so.

((Aw...I'm disturbing his happiness.... crying )) Aki finally admitted to herself that she was utterly, helplessly, pathetically lost. All these trees looked the same, so dark, so solemn and silent. She couldn't feel a breath of wind through the forest, so dense it grew.
Fighting the rising panic, she wondered if anyone lived around here. What if there was no one for miles and miles, and she would be lost here forever?
She grimaced at the childish thought. It wasn't so bad, she decided. There were plenty of things to eat, so she wouldn't starve. If she could only find water, surely a little stream might help her find her way out. She stopped and pricked up her dainty ears, picking up the distant babble of a stream. Estimating a direction, she resumed walking.

Lii'Shun heard a noise at the edge of his consciousness. He ignored it for a moment- but then he realised, it could be someone lost or in trouble. It would be terrible for him to ignore them...!
The slender stallion stood up with a grace he was entirely unaware of; and tilted his head to one side. It was nothing more than common courtesy to announce his presence; so that another could choose to avoid or approach him, depending on their needs. Forgetting completely that he had been so pleased with being solitary, he let out a small whinney; nothing overly loud or exuberant, that wasn't his way. It was literally just to help the other unisus find or avoid him.
That done, he resumed his enjoyment of the clearing. The sun, he noticed, caught dancing specks of pollen, giving the air a mysterious atmosphere. He smiled; flicking his mane back and taking a mouthful of grass, as he listened to see what the other unisus would do.

Aki jolted slightly at the sound of another unisus. With a slight hesitation, she turned towards the sound, pricking her ears again. It came from the general same direction of the water, which meant if she was mistaken she wouldn't be lost.
With renewed confidence in her step, she whinnied back and trotted towards the voice.
"Hello?" If someone was there, surely they would answer.

Lii'Shun's ears flickered at the sound of the other's voice- a female, who wasn't entirely sure he was there. Presumably, however, she wanted to find him. He frowned slightly; his delicate wings shivered before lying down along his back.
"I- uh, I-I'm over here!" He immediated cured himself for stammering; she hadn't even come face-to-face with him and he'd already made a prat out of himself. He sighed; he'd try to be talkative, if that was what she wanted. He'd be polite- that wasn't even something which crossed his mind, as he was always a gentleman and the very epitany of chivalry and courtesy. But whilst he focused on how socially inept he believed himself to be, he behaved as such.

With an inner squeal of relief, Aki kept following the voice. Perhaps he could help her find her way out of these horrid trees. She usually didn't mind trees...but they seemed to be closing in, stifling her.
She soon emerged into a lovely little clearing, and there was a young faerie stallion. For all his bright colors and markings, he couldn't be called the most handsome of unisi, but his eyes held such gentleness and care that no one could ever have noticed that he wasn't stunning.
Aki found herself staring for just a fraction of a second before she caught herself. "Oh, excuse me for barging in here," she apologized. "It's just--I'm lost."

Lii'Shun's biggest problem was that he had such low self-esteem; and that whilst he was focused on how ugly he thought he was, he appeared more ugly than he was. When he thought he was graceless, he would trip; but when he forgot about it, he was very graceful- as much so as his mother. When the mare said she was lost, it was as though a veil had been lifted from him- he knew how to get out of here, he could help her. With that simple thought, he stood straighter, his tail higher; his eyes sparkled and his ears sat up. He looked like a different stallion altogether.
"Oh, well, I know these woods well!" He was focused on how pleased he was to be able to help; the easiest way out of the woods, how to show her to find her way out. And as he wasn't focused on what he said, he didn't stammer; the words came out smoothly, naturally, in a way which, if he were listening to himself, he wouldn't have recognised. Of course, that was the problem- as soon as he listened to himself, he would have stammered and sounded unsure.
"If you follow me, I can get you out of here easily!" He turned lightly and trotted towards the edge of the clearing; not even aware in his eagerness to help that he hadn't even looked at her properly. "It's really easy once you know the way- come on!"

Aki noticed a subtle change come over the stallion. Though nothing physically really changed, his eyes grew more confident and he carried himself in a fine manner. He seemed almost noble, which matched his the politeness she'd already noticed.
Like a knight in shining armor, she thought to herself. How she loved human books found lost among the forests outside the valley. She smiled happily and followed him out of the clearing.((Short, horrible post. crying ))

"Did you end up going round in circles?" Lii'Shun chattered. "It's so easy to do- but, if you look at the trees, moss grows most on the north side, because it doesn't get as much sun! Of course, that doesn't help so much if you're in really deep, but if you are, you probably had to trample loads of undergrowth to get there, so you can see where you've been. So if you remember that, you won't get lost in the trees!"
His hooves splashed in the stream as he skirted a bush; and it occured to him that he had no idea what her name was. He felt flustered; should he have asked first? What if she was offended, because he'd chattered on about the woods without an introduction? He looked at her and felt even more self-conscious; he'd not taken her in before, but she was beautiful; full, feathered withs, and stunning fur markings. He stammered, trying to speak; but he was so pre-occupied with his speech that he didn't stop to think of how he was physically; so he lost none of his unconscious grace.
"I-I, uhm, I d-don't know what your n-name is." He looked wildly around the forest; avoiding looking at her eyes. Oh, he was making such a fool of himself! "M-my name i-is Lii'Shun. I-if. If you, uhm, if you want to know."((He makes me giggle. <33 ))
