Actually, last year as a senior I co-taught a Bible study for freshman girls and I still keep in touch with them even though I like 300 some odd miles from them now that I'm in college. They're doing the Bible study right now... I'll be finishing it off with them when I head home since they'll still be meeting for a few weeks.
Personally, I'm a fan of the 36 week Disciple course. Awesome, if you ever want an in depth group Bible study. They also have Disciple II, III, IV, I think maybe even V now.

Rick Warren is preaching a different gospel. Where God becomes the means to an end instead of being the glorious end that He is. So much of modern-day preaching just makes God a means to get whatever the listener wants. This sermon explains what I'm talking about.I'd also recommend here to take a deeper look at his theology. I loved it!!!
My whole church did it together and ended with it on Christmas a few years ago... it was probably the best Christmas I have EVER had! It really focused my life.

I agree! I would love to read this book! I think Borders might have it, and I have a gift card for there... so that'd be awesome!

Dude, it's theological tripe.
Here's one of the problems: he uses so many different versions of scripture in one five-page devotional. When someone does that, they're trying to force scripture to say what it wants to.
He does have some good thoughts, when modified to be more...well, bible-adhering. When you read the devotional, read with your bible. Look up every scripture he references. Whenever he uses the message, bible gateway it and read the verse he references at least in its paragraph for context. Even better, read the whole chapter.
He isn't very careful with his exegesis.
Another problem: he makes it more about us than about God. With the first chapter, it made it seem God-centered. The next 40 days were spent learning about me. Not cool. As we learn more about God and His glory and His kindness, He will teach us about ourselves and our purpose. Why? our purpose is to display His glory and kindness.
