 Kynan raised his head sleepily, blinking at the rays of sunshine that reached through the trees. Savi still lay asleep at his side, so he sighed contentedly, unwilling to disturb her. Glancing lazily around, he realized with a jolt that he had no idea where they were. He had been running so blindly yesterday...he must have gotten them lost. "Savi..." He nudged his friend gently.

Savi nuzzled into Kynan's side, relishing the feel of anothe warm body against hers as she slept. At the sound of her name in a voice that was not her mothers, Savi came around to consciousness. She yawned, "Good morning Kyn," she said with a smile.

Kynan smiled, nuzzling his little friend. "I hate to say this," he said with a nervous laugh, "but I think we're lost." Somehow, though danger lingered in the back of his mind, he wasn't too worried. What could go wrong with a little blue bundle of luck here with him? He got to his feet, stretching his legs out happily. The sun was warm, but the shade from the trees kept it pleasantly cool down below. "Think we should try and find our way back?"

Savi tilted her head, thinking. "Probably, your parents must be worried about you..." she said, somewhat dejected, reminded of her own lack of family. She shoved it to the side for now with a slight shake of her head. She rose to her feet, following her companion in a nice morning stretch. "I can fly up above the trees and see which way the valley is, then occasionally I'll go back up, to make sure we stay on track." It was a strategy she herself had often used, since she was not particularly skilled at flying long distances for an extended time.

Kynan looked down, trying to think of a way to cheer up the filly. "It's not a huge hurry," he assured her. "I just think we ought to get back before dark." Perhaps we could stay and explore a while..." He just didn't want to be caught alone in the dark again, despite Savi's company. Especially with Savi, because of the danger it meant for her as well. Picking a pink flower, he placed it in her forelock.

"I'd like that." Savi said with a smile at the thought of spending most of the day just her and Kynan. She wore her pink flower proudly, partially bevause she liked it, but mainly because Kynan had given it to her. She couldn't help but feel comfortable around the older colt. He helped her relax and be the filly she was before her uncle had gotten hold of her alone that first time.

Kynan smiled, tugging a stray wisp of his companion's mane. "You're a pretty little thing, did you know that?" he whispered, though no one was anywhere nearby. At first, Savi had seemed so lost and despondent, but she had blossomed in such a short time into a lovely filly, so delightful to be around. He envied her, for being able to recover from her past so easily.

Savi blushed brilliantly, turning around quickly with the intent to begin exploring, but the awkward purposeful 'natural' feel of her movements made it obvious that she was embarrassed. She seemed to have become very interested with a nearby flower bush as an attempt to draw attention away from her reddened face. "This is quite a lovely little white flower bush," she said, her voice a little strained.

Kynan laughed softly. "Don't be embarrassed, Savi," he told her. "If you get embarrassed when someone says you're pretty, it's like yelling out loud and clear that you don't believe him." With a grin, he took one of the "lovely white flowers" in his teeth and ran off ahead.

 ((I don't think I've gotten it yet... but thank you for the offer anyway edit: I got her uncert and made one myself, whatcha think?)) It was true. Savi, due to her past experience, had trouble believing she was worth anything at all. She considered herself to be little more than average looking, if even that, but she wasn't about to admit that to herself, let alone to anyone else. For the time being, she ran after Kynan who had stolen one of the flowers she had been looking at, anything to draw the attention away from herself. "Come back here with that!" she called out with a laugh, chasing after him.

((Ooh, it's pretty! One thing though--it's just a suggestion. Maybe cute off some from top and bottom... 4laugh ))
Kynan glanced back over his shoulder, laughing. "Guess who has the prettiest little fluff of mane in the valley!" It felt nice to be complimenting someone instead of feeling sorry for himself, or getting depressed. Stopping and looking back at the filly, he nuzzled her gently. "Savi..." He dropped the lily. "I think--I'm growing to..." Wrong words! he told himself nervously. "I believe I...love you."

Savi blushed slightly at his first comment, but managed to slow down as she saw him come to stop up ahead. She nuzzled him back, but then froze at his next statement. She wasn't sure what to say, she was still so young herself, she knew she really liked Kynan, but did she love him? She knew she felt comfortable around him, and he helped her relax in a way that no one else ever had... "I- I think I love you too," she said quietly, nuzzling him back warmly.

Kynan blushed a little, but somehow, he didn't feel as awkward as he'd expected. It just felt...right. "Savi, I know we're still young, but foals can fall in love, can't we?" He carefully helped her sit in the cool grass, watching her eyes the whole time. "Because I am sure I love you."

Savi sat in the grass and as she looked into Kynan's eyes, she knew what her answer was, "I do love you," she said with a small smile, amazed that what she said was true. She raised her head and nuzzled him, nipping him gently around the base of his neck. She'd never met anyone who made her feel like this.

Kynan's ears flicked back and forth, betraying his happiness though his smile was replaced by a thoughtful frown. The sensitive skin where Savi nipped him twitched slightly as he gazed affectionately at her.
A raven cawing overhead startled him out of his relaxed state, sending the characteristic unease flooding back into the colt. Kynan looked up at the sky, which had grown dark. Was it that late already? It had seemed like such a short time... "We should probably get going," he said reluctantly, standing with a small smile.
