 Name: Kaimi (Kah-ee-mee) Name Origin: Hawaiian. Means "The Seeker" Species: Kupua Age: Teen Likes: Jellybeans. Playing dress-up. Jewelry!! The color blue. Dancing! Kaimi has taken to dancing everywhere. Helping Naomi garden. Most everything. Peanut butter! Warmth and sunshine. Dislikes: eating meat. Kaimi is apparently a vegetarian. "Uncle" Leeward. Cold, wet, wintery weather. School Overview: Kaimi is still sweet, but no longer quite as naive as she once was. She now knows that the good guy doesn't necessarily win all of the time and she's more thoughtful and withdrawn than she used to be. She loves to dance, particularly belly dancing and hula dancing and is a graceful and petite girl as she moves into teenhood. The flower in her hair and around her neck never wilt and exude a strong exotic fragrance depending on her mood. When Kaimi is sick or hurting her body naturally takes energy from plantlife around her, which can leave said plantlife withered and dead. On the other hand, when she's happy or energized flowers and plants tend to grow anywhere her bare skin touches. Kaimi is entering that strange period of hormones and crushes and doesn't seem to differentiate between men and women when it comes to her affections. However, after her experience with Leeward and his coven she sometimes finds herself craving types of physical encounters that have slightly darker undertones, which confuses this gentle girl. Active *Strength - disproportionate strength. A classic trait of the kupua. Inactive *Smell - Kaimi smells unnaturally and noticeably wonderful! Like all sorts of beautiful flowering tropical things. Active! *Communication - Kaimi, being kupua, has not one but two ancestor spirits that commune with her directly.  Name: Naomi Name Origin: Hebrew, meaning "pleasant" Species: Human Age: Adult Likes: Soup Dislikes: ??? Overview: Naomi came to Gaia from Earth. Nobody is quite sure how she got here... because she doesn't really talk about it. She's completely human, but has been in Gaia long enough to be used to the strange people and ways around here. She is a trans-personal psychologist who keeps a practice on earth and commutes back and forth from Gaia. She has a close but often frustrating relationship with her parents, adores her dad and is exasperated by her meddlesome but well-meaning mother. She loves to garden and to read and enjoys classical music. Personality: Naomi is a very down to earth and easygoing person. She's easy to talk to and people often find themselves confiding in her. She can be bluntly honest, though, which can make one uncomfortable. Often she doesn't offer opinons unless asked. She is very independent and self-sufficient, she doesn't like to feel as if she has to rely on anyone but herself. As a parent, Naomi is more of the sit-back-and-watch sort, believing that a person can only be who they are and that a child's job is to discover themselves. So she isn't terribly fussy or overprotective. She's not much of a disciplinarian either, preferring to sit down and talk an issue out, getting to the root of bad behavior, rather than smacking or timeouts. It's her opinion that if a person can understand the reasons behind their actions, they can address the core of any issues they may have. This being said, while she exhibits confidence and self control at all times, there is a vulnerability stemming from a deep past hurt that she avoids confronting. Naomi has her own demons that she runs from, just like the rest of us.

-opinions currently are all in progress while Kaimi gets to know everyone.- Bishop - Such fun! She can play pretend like nobody's business. Kaimi's first and best friend. Todd Faustus - Fox boy! (full opinion in progress) Delilah - The prettiest girl Kaimi has ever seen! Kaimi wants to be just like her... Madison - Kaimi proclaimed her the Butterfly Princess, and in turn was given the title of the Butterfly Champion. A grand adventuress and a Very Brave Girl. Ophelia - Kaimi met her briefly in a surfing shop and helped her find a board. Though she didn't get to know her well, Kaimi is looking forward to meeting her again and learning how to surf! Keres - Kind of crazy, but also really cool! She knows how to catch crabs, which is a talent Kaimi finds baffling but spiffy. Merroth - He's fascinating in a weird kind of way. Kaimi doesn't really understand him, but is under the impression that it's because he's a boy, not because he's Merroth. Nataya - Kaimi likes Nataya. And she's absolutely fascinated by the girl's wings. Kashmira - Definitely a pretty girl, Kaimi could go into spasms of jealousy over her hair. Nice enough, though not a big risk taker upon first impressions. Kaimi likes her. Chris - Kaimi didn't get to know him very well, but what she does know she likes. She hopes to get the chance to hang out with him again. Cascati - Casca flew Kaimi home and thus found his way into her list of Totally Awesome People. Also, he's nice which helps too. XD Galleai - On the one hand, Galleai lives with Leeward's coven but on the other hand, she helped Kaimi to escape their clutches. Kaimi isn't sure quite how she feels about this strange girl. Josh - An absolute sweetheart. He cheered Kaimi up when she was having a lousy day. Levi - He seems like a good guy. They swapped sob-stories over ice-cream and he's going to teach her how to be a better swimmer.

Microkinesis - Kaimi's microkinetic ability will be limited to plant matter. She has the ability to manipulate living vegetation on a cellular level, which can go one of two ways. First: Kaimi can extend her own energy to plants, causing them to grow or bloom, etc. When she has a great excess of positive energy, any viable place her bare flesh touches will cause grass to grow or small flowers to blossom so that it may appear that she is leaving a trail of greeness in her wake. (example: flowers blooming in her foot prints, etc) As long as a plant is living, she can effect it on a cellular level. This is generally a subconscious or even unconscious action, however, directly proportional to her positive energy. Second, Kaimi can sap the energy from plants to supplement her own energy. This, of course, causes the death of the plant more often than not, especially with smaller things such as grasses or flowers. When her energy is very low, ie after a traumatic or life-threatening situation, any living plant matter that her bare flesh touches will instantly wither and die as her body steals it's energy to supplement her own. Again, generally on a subconscious or unconscious level. Currently, Kaimi has no real access to her microkinetic potential. The kinesis will be triggered by some sort of highly traumatic event which will leave her drastically weak both physically, mentally and emotionally. After that, she will have limited access to her kinesis, though primarily on a subconscious or accidental level until she learns how to control it.
Ancestor Spirits - Kaimi has two ancestor spirits that are guiding her. Legend of the Kupua generally involves animal or plant spirits. Therefore Kaimi's ancestor spirits are a ficus (fig) tree and some sort of flowering plant (species undetermined).
Her microkinetic abilities are primarily a side effect of the ficus spirit (more specifically, the spirit of a banyan fig, or "strangler" fig) These fig trees begin with a host tree that they eventually grow over and kill, sapping the life out of it, as it were.
Fig trees appear often in various mythos and religious texts. The World Tree of the Hindus is a ficus, for example. It is also believed that Siddhartha Gautama was meditating beneath a fig tree when he reached enlightenment, and thus many Buddhists still meditate and build shrines beneath fig trees. In Christian teachings, there is a well known story in which Jesus curses a fig tree because it does not have any ripe fruit. Because of it's rich ties in mythos, the fig tree was selected as one of Kaimi's ancestor spirits. The fig tree can be considered a symbol for happiness, prosperity, longevity and good luck.
Kaimi's particular sweet odor, which increases when she has strong emotions, particularly positive ones, is a side effect of the flower spirit. Fae is still currently researching tropical flower lore to discover which one specifically is a guardian spirit to Kaimi.
