Adventurers are based in the city of Lidrin Port. This is a major coastal city, the shoreline progressing on the east, with a great deal of ship travel. A ways off coast are barrier islands that can take anywhere from 4 hours to two days to reach, and they come in varying sizes and terrains. To the north of the town lie some foothills that progress into mountains the further west one goes, eventually leading to dwarven lands and the lairs of giants, among other things. The immediate lands to the south and west of the city are filled with plains and farmland, riddled with roads that are so numerous they are hard to defend from brigands and monsters. The further one goes out to the west, the more numerous the trees become until one reaches the Forest of Ehlonna, a place once filled with beauty, but now filled with elven ruins and strange beasts. Southward also bears trees, but it progresses into swamplands so close to the sea. The place is largely avoided due to the inhabitants.

The city itself is a large and populous place. Many adventurers have made their way there in response to the growing monster population in the recent years. Despite the growing resistance to these beasts, they seem to be growing in force rather than declining, making many wonder why so many disparate forces are gathering under individual banners, so to speak.

The governing of the city is done by a council whom many suspect to be corrupt, but fairly efficient. The response to crime is somewhat weak, as the inhabitants of the city tend to be able to look out for themselves and any potential thieves don't know if their mark is capable of hitting them into next week. The end result is a low crime rate with many organized crime rings making large strikes as opposed to small day to day crime. Still, illegal substances and services are easy to come by in the city.
