It was a glorius day in Bryhild, Riley was in a field of flowers, stalking butterflies. She followed a particular specimen, a tiger swallowtail, with her eyes, occasionally making little leaps at it in mid-air and not paying any attention to anything else.

 Lucari breathed in the spring air with some apparent enjoyment, feelin the sun on his face as he, unknowingly stalked the same butterfly. There was little need for real game at the moment, so he had contented himself with butterflies to sharpen his skills. But the swallowtail was too good for him; he could not get at it with simple jumps. Taking a ruuning start, Lucari pounced upon the butterfly. He caught it in his paws and fell back down to the ground... right upon a dark-pelted female with striking violet eyes.

Riley let out a squeal, as a male fafner with silver stripes and emerald eyes fell on top of her. She leaped up, leaving the mysterious fafner on the ground, she whirled around looking at the sky, with several questions on her mind. Who was this fafner and where on earth was the buttefly? She glanced back at the fafner, rushing back saying "Oh god are you okay?"

Lucari nodded and blinked in surprise. He cocked his head to one side, appraising the female. She was rather beautiful, and clearly energetic. Had she been chasing the butterfly, too?
'I'm sorry' he mouthed, hoping she would understand. He hadn't had any sort of decent communication with anyone in so long, he didn't know what he should do. Lucari leaned down to write something in the dirt with his paw.
'What's... your... name?' he scrawled, and then looked up at her questioningly.

She blinked, then her expression softened slightly. "Oh.."she murmured softly"He can't speak "It's alright, my name is Riley. And you?"

'Lucari' he wrote, smiling shyly.
'Riley's a nice name'
Lucari looked at Riley wonderingly. 'Oh?' he wrote, curious to know what she had meant. Had he alarmed her?

"It's nothing" she said with a slight shake of her head. "I've never met anyone named Lucari before. Were you chasing the butterfly as well?"

Lucari chuckled silently at Riley's comment. 'Well, I've never met anyone named Riley before, either' he joked.
He nodded and grinned. So she was chasing the butterfly, after all. 'Tiger swallowtail. Kinda like me. Sometimes I wish I could fly, too.'
'Where are you from?'

Riley gave a slight smile "I've wanted to fly as well sometimes. I'm from Bryhild and you?"

Lucari raised an eyebrow in surprise. He knew a lot of faces from his home clan, although it was impossible to memorize the 40 or so names. And yet, it seemed as though he'd never even seen her before.
'Brynhild' he wrote, then thought for a moment and added, 'how come I've never seen you before? I've got a good memory for faces'
It wasn't like her face was easily forgotten, either: she had beautiful patterns all over her pelt and striking eyes alive with energy.
'You remind me of my baby sister, you know'

Riley blinked, she knew that Bryhild had several fafners, about 40 or so, but had never seen him before. Perhaps it was because she was somewhat withdrawn except to her friends in other clans, and her godfather.
"I'm not very social, I'm afraid" she said softly
"You have siblings?" she said, blinking.

Lucari looked solemn for a moment, then frowned and wrote a single word in the dirt.
'Had'
Staring down at his writing, he decided to elaborate a bit. Lucari bent down once more.
'A sister and brother'

Lucari shook his head vigorously. 'No, not at all' he quickly wrote, managing a weak smile. Lucari looked around. He found a large white daisy, which he proceeded to pick and, with a flourish, stuck it decoratively in Riley's mane of deep purple hair. Cocking his head to one side to appraise his work, Lucari nodded to himself and wrote something again.
'Don't feel bad' he scribbled, smiling in earnest now.

"If you say so...", she said with a sheepish smile. She glanced at the daisy, now in her purple mane.
