Dusk touched the earth sending a brilliance of red and gold across the earth. The winds were starting to grow cold as the warmth of the sun was shooed away by the dark night. The moon lifted to replace its brother and the night creatures began to call one another in an onslaught of music only they could understand.
The male lion lifted his head and shook his green mane. He lazily got to his feet and stretched, careful of his broken leg. The splint was working well and so far he could manage with it on. Still, it wasn't good for hunting and he had to rely on chancing across small prey.
He opened his jaws and let out a yawn that ended in a small roar. He needed to keep moving. Staying in once place too long meant a rival lion could come across him and without a good leg to stand on, well, that wouldn't end well.
Nyack looked toward where the sun had died and headed toward it. Sure that it would bring him to where he needed to be. he limped but showed none of the pain on his face. Taban had taught him better then that. He had to be poised. Show no weakness and veil the truth.
But none of it quelled his loneliness. He drifted off into a daydream, walking aimlessly in his set course. The only noise being the steady 'thump' as the splint touched ground when he stepped.
Finally, after what seemed forever the male slumped down to rest his leg and closed his eyes. The grass was cool here. Now if only he knew where he was and where his group had gone. He pinned his ears back and sighed, glaring at the grass beside him. Stupid leg.... stupid water buffalo... stupid... him.

Vi yawned as she slipped away from the watering hole, her body light and crouched down in a defensive manner. Her bright blue eyes flickered over the grasses, keeping an eye out for danger. It had been about a week since she'd last seen her mother and she had been with Ushaufu, she was beginning to wonder if it'd been a mistake. No matter, she'd find her mother soon and they'd head back to the pridelands, all would be well again!
Her ears twitched every few steps, because on those every few steps the general night noises around her were accompanied with a thump of something heavy, and it was getting her agitated. All of a sudden though it stopped, and her head jerked to the left and her body froze. Was the thumping something going to attack?
She stalked carefully forward, her eyes narrowed as she wondered just what it was that had been following along side her. She relaxed when her eyes landed on a male, adult and pathetic. Like all males, in her head. "Well... well.." She said outloud, head tilting as she gave him a skeptical look. "What have we here.."

The male jumped and glanced around for the source of the voice. It sounded like a snarky female... just what he needed. He gazed over at the rather bright yellow adolescent and put his ears back. Was he in another territory?
He pulled himself up carefully and flickered his tail, watching her carefully. He didn't see or smell another males. So it was just her... What was she doing all alone?
"Hello..." He said slowly, keeping his voice light and friendly. "Am... I in your lands?" He asked, gazing about him almost nervously. He took a step steps toward her, limping slightly. "What's your name?"

She sighed slightly as her gaze took in the slight limp, took in his condition and anything she could see about him. He seemed friendly, which Vi didn't like that much. Oh sod it, she had no clue where she'd last seen her mother and she was feeling a bit lonely. "Rogue lands.." She answered, her brow furrowing slightly. Everyone knew these were rogue lands, didn't they?
She slowly sat, her tail curling around her as she laughed slightly. "I doubt you expect me to give my name so freely when you've hardly offered your own.." She said slowly, her tone not as friendly as his but it was also not unkind, which was rare for Vikali most days.

He seemed to relax considerably once he found he was still in the Rouge Lands. Still dangerous, but safer then facing up with a male who thought his pride was in danger.
He ducked his head and smiled sheepishly. "Oh, right... My name's Nyack..." Despite her cold attitudes he was too glad to find someone else to talk to to really take it to heart. He kept far enough away not to intrude on her face but close enough to get a better look at her. He dropped down in the grass again and nudged at the splint. Still sore but getting slowly better...
"Are... you alone too?" He asked slowly, keeping his gaze off to the side.

Nyack, that was much better. She wondered what it meant, she always liked knowing name meanings. She and her sisters were all named from elements of strength, both of her parents believed they would be quite capable when fully grown. But what had Vikali accomplished? She'd seduced a male and she was pretty sure she could feel the barest tendrils of life brushing inside of her, fluttering and making themselves known. This scared her, even if it had turned out how she'd meant it to.
She needed to find her mother, needed to get home and needed to speak with Koy, who she felt would understand this much more. She could only imagine the look on her sisters' and fathers face when her mother told them the news. Well, she didn't care. She was free, but she did not realize she was placing herself into a different cage. Was it bigger or smaller? Only time would tell.
"Good, glad you remembered your manners." She breathed out, trying to sound friendly. Her words were teasing, they weren't meant to hurt his feelings but her jokes could sometimes be a bit harsh. "My name is Vikali, but I much prefer Vi." She and her sisters had shortened their names with each other drastically, only using the first two letters until it had become more normal than her full name, which mostly only her parents used. "I am not alone, I am just not in the company of my mother." She stated cautiously, her gaze on his splint. He was harmless, or so she felt.
"In fact I've become seperated from her, I don't know where she is but we were closer to the pridelands than not." Her homelands... she doubted he'd be much help in locating them, he didn't even know he was in rogue territory. No matter... "So how did such a strong looking lion hurt his leg so horribly... and what is that weird thing around it?" She'd never seen a splint before, so she wasn't sure why she knew he was hurt.

He gave her a grin to indicate he got the joke. He was to good natured to take anything to heart. "Well mom always said to be nice to pretty lionesses..." He answered lamely but with full confidence. He nodded at her name, green man jostling. "A pleasure to meet you Vi."
Nyack's head tilted. Not in the company of her mother? Was she lost? "Do you want me to help you find her? Or I could walk you home?" He offered. He didn't believe her weak, he just rather she was safe with her mother before he continued his journey again. If she was lost, he didn't want to continue on his journey only to have her not finding her way home.
So she was lost and he was close to... His ears went down. The Pridelands... He seemed almost nervous for a second, tail lashing like a whip behind him. "Well maybe I can help you find her... I'm pretty good at finding others." he glanced back at his leg and shifted it slightly.
"Tried to take on a male waterbuck by myself..." He said slowly, only a part of a lie. He was after a calf had to face off with the bull. "Its called uh.... I think a splint... I broke my leg and this is putting the pieces back together."
