I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'll repent! After this meeting I'll put up the past meetings. So if you haven't joined in on one of our Gmail chats yet, you're really missing out. Once again, my Gmail is mormoneagle86@gmail and Lucentas's is surfersquid@gmail. Even if it's not for the meeting, you can always talk to me or ask me questions.

Sister Gryphex: You've been invited to this chat room! Elder Garcia: Hey Sister Gryphex: Hi. Sister Lucentas: Hey Sister Gryph.
Sister Gryphex: Okay, I'm not sure how long I'm going to be able to be on here, but I'll stick around as long as I can. Sister Lucentas: Okay. That's fine, I have to leave at 6 anyway. Elder Garcia: What's up? Okay so Sister Lucentas has our meeting today Sister Lucentas: I do? Elder Garcia: Na. I was just joking The result wasn't what I hoped for though lol Sister Lucentas: Lol. Gee, thanks. Elder Garcia: No problem So let's talk about truth What is truth?
Sister Lucentas: Well...I think it's reality. Everyone can believe whatever they want about anything, but that doesn't make what they believe into reality. The only reality is truth. For example, if I decided to start believing that the sky was purple, and everyone else who says the sky is blue is wrong because obviously since I think the sky is purple, I must be right.
Sister Gryphex: Woah, you hit it right on the nose. I looked it up in a dictionary and it says truth is reality.
Elder Garcia: That is just way over my head Can it be simplified even more? Sister Gryphex: "a fact that has been verified" "a true statement" Sister Lucentas: Truth = reality = the way things are. Elder Garcia: But the whole sky being purple thing?
Sister Lucentas: I was getting to the adverse of that little story. My thinking the sky is purple in no way lessens the truth of the reality of the sky really being blue. No matter how hard I may try to convince others that the sky is purple, it's not. I can write books and give talks and go on TV with my life-changing message about how the sky is really purple and give some convoluted reasoning about why everyone but me sees it as blue. But it's still blue. And no matter how much I deny it, I'm the one who's wrong. This goes against the thinking of several prominent philosophers, I can't really remember the name of their overall movement, but they thought something along the lines of "Only the things we ourselves see and experience can be proven. Nothing else exists outside of our personal experiences." Of course, that's just rediculous. Just because I've never been to Antarctica doesn't mean I can say with utmost authority and finality that it is not cold there. And there was a new species of rodent discovered in the jungles of Indonesia a few months ago--did that rodent just not exist until the very moment it was discovered? Truth is truth whether we know about it or not. The ancient Egyptians had two terms for the universe. Translated, the terms are "that which we know" and "that which we do not know". They recognized, far more than most people do today, that there are fundamental realities that do not require us to know about them for them to exist. All right, I'm sorry, I'll let someone else talk now. <_< Sister Gryphex: Wow... that was great! biggrin
Elder Garcia: I'm speechless Sister Gryphex: Elder, I do believe we have been enlightened. Elder Garcia: I have been dumbfounded Sister Gryphex: Well, however you want to describe it, sure. Elder Garcia: When I understand this more is when I will be enlightened lol
Sister Gryphex: smile Elder Garcia: Okay, so I will associate three things with truth Can anyone guess as to what they are?
Sister Gryphex: I'm out on a limb here, but... Gospel, Scripture... Priesthood?
Elder Garcia: Not quite what I had in mind Sister Gryphex: Eh... I tried. Elder Garcia: Knowing truth, living truth, and speaking truth What do all these three things have in common besides the word truth Members/Missionary work
Sister Gryphex: We are all setting an example by doing those things? Elder Garcia: We are always the example We know that others watch us whether we know it or not We know the truth That is a given by us being here We should strive to live the truth If we don't live in truth then we live in lies and our examples will draw others away from Christ Next is to speak the truth Because we want others to know the truth as well And how do we speak the truth? By knowing the truth We know, therefore we live. We live therefore we speak. We speak, therefore we know
Sister Lucentas: I see. Elder Garcia: How do we find the truth?
Sister Lucentas: Prayer. Sister Gryphex: Scripture study. Go to church. Listen to the Prophet!
Elder Garcia: lol Sister Gryphex: smile Elder Garcia: seminary answers
Sister Gryphex: More like primary. Elder Garcia: How do we know if what he hear or read is true? Sister Lucentas: Sometimes we'll be able to feel it in our hearts through the Spirit. And sometimes we can pray about it and ask if it's true. Elder Garcia: Exactly
Sister Lucentas: Heya! Sister Puppy: hi Elder Garcia: What do we know to be true? Sister Puppy: the gospel. Elder Garcia: elaborate
Sister Puppy: what Jesus taught, and what we are inspired to do by the holy ghost. Elder Garcia: Okay Anything else? Sister Gryphex? What about Sister Lucentas? Sister Lucentas: Well, the truths that have been revealed to us by God. Elder Garcia: What truths?
Sister Lucentas: Well...everything in the gospel. Everything Christ and the prophets have taught. Sister Puppy: the book of mormon. is a book of divine truths. Elder Garcia: Yes I know that the Book of Mormon is true I know that Jesus Christ took upon him the sin and troubles of the world, died on the cross for our sakes, then rose again I know that President Monson is a prophet of God and is lead and directed by Him Truth Speaking what you know to be true
Sister Puppy: like missionary work. just saying one little truth can help somebody see the right way.
Elder Garcia: yep I think that it can also be classified as bearing a testimony
Sister Puppy: yes that is true. i don't think it even has to be that just being who you are and acting the way you do people will ask and then you can bear your testimony.
Elder Garcia: So if you speak on what you know to be true, is it so hard to bear a testimony? Sister Puppy: no not really.
Elder Garcia: What about the other two? Sister Gryphex and Sister Lucentas?
Sister Lucentas: I don't really have anything more to add. Sister Gryphex: Same here. Elder Garcia: Okay then, I have a challenge for everyone I challenge everyone to bear their testimony sometime before May 4th And then share what you bore it on in that meeting It can be to an entire congregation or to one single person Will you all accept that challenge? Sister Lucentas: Yes. Sister Puppy: yes.... but i might forget. Sister Gryphex: I'll do my best. Elder Garcia: Okay If you might forget then write it down
Sister Puppy: i'll write it in my agenda. Elder Garcia: lol kay So I'm going to end today's meeting a little early I haven't eaten anything all day and I'm really hungry sorry lol Sister Puppy: it's ok. go eat. have fun. see yah later. Elder Garcia: Okay Well, you three can keep talking if you want I'll see everyone later Well... I'll talk to everyone later Sister Gryphex: TTFN!
