*clears her throat* subforums people, subforums! this has sat in its proper subforum unnoticed for the better part of a week.
(will move back later).

My neighbors have their TV up to 375 decibels and as such I can clearly hear the dialog to The Never Ending Story. Of course I'm just a bit too old to have that as one of my "childhood" favs, (my personals would be The Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and Cinderella) but hearing that brought up some pleasant memories. I think J must have seen that movie at least 3 dozen times.

Some other favorites include; The Dark Crystal, Dumbo, and The Rescuers Down Under.

How about yours?

There are a lot of movies that I really loved when I was younger, but I will tell you all the story of my favorite Disney Movie.

The year was 1996. I grew cynical of Disney movies after the horribleness of Pocahontas.

Even earlier Disney epics like the Lion King were getting boring. And I was getting into Puberty at the time, so I needed to watch stuff more for my age group, hence my old love for Dragonball Z and other hot-blooded Anime.

So, 1996 rolled around. Heard that Disney would be adapting Hunchback of Notre Dame. I didn't think it would be good.

But goddamn. It was. Sure, there were some deviations to be a bit more family friendly, but...Frollo...hair-sniffing...the soundtrack.

BRILLIANCE.

It was Aladdin all the way for me. That and The Sword in the Stone, but that one was recorded I think. So I could never find the damn tape it was recorded on; otherwise I'd have watched that a bunch.

When I was a small child, like 3-4, I liked "Lady and the Tramp", because of the girl dog heroine, Lady. But when I re-watched the movie in 2006, I realized it sucked because the movie was way too conservative. (Hey April, I also like Sleeping Beauty as a 4 year old).

People pushed the "Ariel" movie and merchandise on me a lot because of my name and everything.. but I actually did not like that movie. I liked it even less because of the associations people were pushing on me.

My parents were poorer, we didn't buy movies.. we would record them from the TV to vhs or would rent them occasionally. So we probably didn't get to watch everything under the sun.. even still... I really can't pinpoint a movie I liked so deeply that I remember the name still. Watching a kiddie movie, simply, was a treat.

edit: oh wait, some of you have spurred some memories.

I liked ET, gremlins, home alone, Johhny 5 (some cool robot dude), the wizard of oz, and most disney movies were a general crowd pleaser (mind you, I was a child. I don't feel the same way now). A disney movie was considered a way better movie experience than bargin-bin, old, black-and-white, public domain warner brothers cartoon clips they would show in the theaters (from the pre-1950's) *shudder*. As a kid, I generally liked cartoons/animation. For you people who hate disney movies so much... gawd you just didn't know how bad you had it! xp

Little Shop of Horrors! XD Feed me Seymour!
Universal Soldier, Battlefield Earth, Dune, Weird Science..

I cried when Tom Cruise took River Phoenix's place in Interview with a Vampire.
I had the biggest childhood crush on River ^^;
He was the lil boy in the flight of the navigator movie btw.

And I didn't hate them Ari, they just really, REALLY irked me.
That and my niece watched the lion king so much I can ******** monologue it word for word which isn't cool at all...
That and there's no such thing as a happy ending in real life like Disney almost always tries to portray.
There's only struggle to survive and making do to be content until death.
I'm a horrible morbid creature I know lol

I like some Disney films, and the innuendos in the films (non intentional ofc) make me laugh so ******** much. But the same could be said in most childhood films not just Disney movies.
