Letter was inside the old cotton mill. It was rather early in the morning, and a beam of golden light shone through a gap in the wood of a part of the wall onto the floor. This would be a good place to begin decided Letter. She scanned the large room with all of its cotton machines and other pidges walking around at the start of the early morning.
Eventually her eyes rested on a small reel of red cotton. It was perfect! She leaned down and began to push it forwards along the floor with one of her feet towards the light shining brightly through the gap in the wood and onto the floor. It became slightly unraveled, but that was no matter to her. She pushed it up-right with her beak and the shuffled backwards slightly to admire her new story-telling stand, looking dramatic in the sunlight. That should grab some attention. Thought Letter rather pleased with her result.
She stepped onto the cotton reel and found it was wide enough to balance on carefully. The sunlight shone brightly on her feathers and warmed her back wonderfully. She smiled as she tapped of the cotton reel with one of her small talons. "Who'll hear my tale of wit and daring, the value of friendship, loves fateful pairing?
Who'll take some time an' hear my tale, of a young grey pidge, the foolish Gale?" She said out aloud for all to hear, spreading her wings out wide in the sunlight and ready to do one of her favorite things. To spin a tale for all to enjoy.

Pound fluttered over interested, he had a soft spot for a good entertainer and a tale was always well recieved. So he settled himself down, he could afford to take a break he'd spent all morning seeing expectant mothers with eggs wanting him to try tell them the day they should expect hatching.

Letter smiled happily as she Pound A Pint settled himself in front of her. She already had pound and knew others would follow, so she continued to keep the rhythm of the story going and to immerse everyone in it's world.
"Our tale begins on one stormy night. Clouds filled the night sky to block out the stars, an' lightning was crashin' down all around like fury." She began, using her wings to express herself. "There was a young pidge in the middle of this beast of a storm. 'Is name was Gale, a fledgling who still hadn't found his wings properly. The storm roared angrily all around, and gale had started ta wish he hadn't left 'is flock from the warm and welcoming train station.
'Yer can't go out on yer own Gale, it's too dangerous.' 'is father had said. 'Now ye may be in love with that pretty girl but I 'aint gonna let ya flap outside to give her that human shiny thing on a string. Stay here with ya flock Gale.' But wot did Gale do? He disobeyed 'is hawk sized father and braved the storm.
He was now sittin' in the middle of the park all alone, frozen to the bone, wind howling like mad dogs an' his wings heavy with rain. Still the human shiny on a string stayed in 'is beak because he would never let go. He loved that girl. He thought all was lost as he sat frozen laying on the sodden grass, 'till he 'eard a voice." Said Letter slowly, trying to really create the atmosphere with her voice.

He happily fluffed hiself up in his feathers, it was like a bieng in a big snug nest. As he listened to Letter spin her tale he could just picture the scene in his mind. It was so easy to get lost in a good storytellers tale.

The ever young and ever restless Red Light had plopped in in the start of Letter's tale, eager for a distraction from his mind numbingly monotonous task of patrolling. What was better than a nice early morning story before going out to patrol?

Red ran a pale beak through his brightly painted feathers and trained his eyes on Letter. She was certainly a pretty young Pidge and she had a way with her words, that was for sure.

User Image"Oh, I do love a good romance," Drum said as she sat down next to the other pidge, looking to Letter expectantly. She had caught the story starting in the middle of her work, and looked a bit silly with several strange containers piled up in her wings.

She had gotten a bottle lid, a plastic bag, a gum wrapper, and a few other odds and ends, thinking to use them as the packs for the predator repellent. She had yet to try them out yet.

But a story was much more important!

Glo was leaning against an old can of something, eyes closed, making sure no one thought she was paying the least bit attention of Letter's story. Stories were for the deluded, those who could not see the grim face of the future, or those who could, but decided to turn their backs on it.
But even if she tried, Glo couldn't help but wanting to find out what happened to little Gale. So she snored a bit too loud for it to be believable, and peeked with one eye.

Letter smiled widely as she saw her audience was growing. Her net of her tale had finally captured some listeners, and now to continue what she loved to do and worked for. She continued her tale. "'What on Earth are you doing down there boy?!' shouted a voice from the other side of the park. There was a flappin' of strong wings, and a dark figure landed in front of the dazzled Gale. In a flash of lightnin' he was lit up, and what an impressive sight he wos! If not slightly intimidatin'. He wos a royal blue colour, with spirals of gold linin' his mighty wings and tail-feathers. His body was handsomely built, except his face grizzled with a scar running along it, and a shriveled up socket where one of his once gleamin' eyes had sat.
'You will catch your death of cold out here. Come fledgling, come quickly." Said the surprisingly smooth voice of the half-grizzled pidge. With the help of the old pidge pushing him, they reached a dry doorway to rest in.
Gale was breathin' in and out shakily. The royal blue ridge eyed him with 'is one good eye. "Now what were you doing out there lad?" He asked Gale curiously, leaning close to the breathless pidge. "And what is that human thing you're holding?"
"It, it's... It's for Bell... Church Bell." Breathed Gale.
The deeply coloured pidge drew a sharp breath in and took a few steps back as if studying Gale. "You mean my daughter?" He asked raisin' his voice."
Letter made sure to voice all of the pidges differently, to make the characters seem more real.

The young gard couldn't help but to chuckle. "H'oh dear!" He abandonned his preening and sat down to turn his full attention on the pretty young Letter. "That rascal's in for a rough time." He kept his voice soft, as to try and not disturb the other attending Pidge, but he couldn't help but to comment.

Sitting back in the next, having been screeching for food all day, Auria was suddenly quieted by a story she heard being told. What was this? What was it all about? Quieting herself, she sat, snuggling closer to the next for warmth, and began to listen.
Closing her eyes, and the world that Letter was spinning began to take shape before her. She imagined herself that fledgling, lost in the awful weather. Oh she couldn't wait to grow up!
